Soobin Chun Honestly… Why would you want to use 50 steps of make up to make it look like you don’t have make up on when you can do that by putting the correct foundation on and a blurring powder, Touch of blush the same things on your eyelid as you put on your face and then going to your shadows if you want shadow. A shadow that’s a shade darker than your skin gives your eye the Deppe it needs to look like no make up make up and you could even use two shades there, but don’t use any shimmer on your eyes because that is a giveaway. Tight lining and or close lining of the lid and the best mascara combo of benefits brown primer and they’re real mascara will definitely give you eyelashes but they will never clump together. This was my first try with the primer and mascara and then I went and bought thrive which I loved but it is way too clumpy for me now and I can’t wait to go back to benefit even know it takes meet twoProducts to get my eyelashes to look long but not clumpy. I have would be lashes and they are so visible when I wear this mascara and primer. I promise you you won’t be disappointed. My sister turned me onto it and her friend turned her onto it and her friend turned her onto it and so on.

It might be one of those 'glass skin' Korean style makeup trends! I swear half of the steps are just skincare products before the makeup goes on.

@@ChrissyGrace2611 Because there is no reality in which, "putting the correct foundation on and a blurring powder" results in my face looking like I don't have makeup on, never mind the other steps you mention. So yeah, I'd love to see someone who has apparently put a lot more thought into the process share their methods, even if it takes 50 steps.

Miss Sam... I am now one of your subscribers because Stephanie Marie touted your wonderful skills on the reverse foundation! First let me say you have taught this 55-year-old aesthetician make up artist model a new trick!
Secondly let me say to you this... I had to stop your video and cry because of how emotional you got about your skin and I’m still struggling to get through this. You are the era of my daughter she is 26. I would no more want to be in my 20s in this day and age with all the emphasis on Instagram beauty filter’s, fillers and plastic surgery. Precious Sam ..in my day I read vogue magazine‘s and I turned the picture is upside down so I could see where the make up artist had contoured and learn their tricks. I watched beautiful old movies with Hedy Lemar Audrey Hepburn Claudette Colbert. These glamorous beautiful icons. Sam you are one of those... you are a trendsetters and you have the opportunity to shed light for your generation by just being you. Sweetheart in 2 to three years it’s not gonna matter what’s growing on your chin... it’s what’s on the inside and that’s what I saw in your video ...a beautiful, intelligent, tender woman with braveness, transparency and truth in her make up bag. When your 55 all of the wisdom, knowledge and soul making that you have gone through in your 20s will be all the beauty that you need...💋💋🙏🏻💋 I love you sister

The reason that I like seeing your natural skin is that I think you’re so gorgeous, and you having breakouts doesn’t make me thing you are any less gorgeous. And yet when I would look at myself during a breakout I would think I am the ugliest person in the world. Seeing you and realizing how gorgeous I think you are no matter the status of your skin has helped me to realize my acne shouldn’t affect my opinion of myself either.
    So, seriously, thank you.

On your point about women being expected to be naturally beautiful all the time... when I was in high school some guy told my best friend he liked her hair because it was so straight and she said is that a good thing? And he said yeah unless you woke up early to straighten it. I just remember being like ??? You like it unless she put effort into it? So if it’s not natural then its no longer beautiful? At that point I was like ok we can’t win (this was 10 years ago)

Darya As someone who truggles with really bad eczema I know exactly what you mean. The eczema has cleared up on my face (still can't walk out the house with no makeup on) but it's still all over my arms, thighs and neck. I'm so jealous of people with clear skin. They don't have to go through multiple outfit changes just to ensure their neck and their arms are covered. Skin issues really do a number on your confidence levels because essentially your body is all you have. It's you. It represents who you are. It's the first thing people see. Idk. Never really had a lot of confidence since I've been struggling with eczema my whole life, but sometimes it would be nice to just look at myself without completely hating myself.

I have a hard time not wearing any foundation or concealer out, and I have been extremely depressed at times when I felt less than because of my acne. I have kept myself from doing things and have gotten so upset over it. And while a still get upset today, I know that it is just a part of who I am and videos like these have helped me grow in confidence and become a better version of myself. I would rather have been through shit and been stronger and better for it than to have gone through nothing at all. So thank you for all that you do, it takes an unknown level of strength.

So happy to see videos like this. There are so many "gurus" I enjoy to watch for entertainment, but not to learn makeup tips from because it is just so caked on. Tons of shape tape thickly drawn in massive triangles, baking the face with a ton of powder, obviously unnatural looking blinding highlight, sharply drawn on brows etc just doesn't do it for me. It seems like it is made to look good under the lights and on camera, but looks very full on in real life. I see a lot of young teenage girls who grow up learning makeup from TH-cam and so to them what they learn is "normal" is so different to what it was for me growing up. Most of the women I know (late 20's and older) want that "skin-like" makeup where it doesn't look so "makeupy". Your look is exactly the kind of makeup I want for myself.

Sam, you’re jarringly beautiful. Clear or not, I think you’d stop me in my tracks if I saw you in person even totally bare faced. I also adore your humor and attitude, and you seem like a very thoughtful and intelligent woman as well. You’re a badass, lady. I want to tell you not to stress too much about your skin, but instead I’ll wish you luck in getting controlling it again for your own comfort.

I think seeing your natural skin texture is SO important as to seeing how a product ACTUALLY performs. If we cant even see how your skin looks and how a product applies on your skin, why should we believe anyone in what they are claiming? Love what you're talking about in this video and you are beautiful!

Your finished skin looks beautiful and effortless, good job! It’s all about layering the right amount and placement. I wish more beauty gurus actually taught about this..

I was always a tomboy, but even I wanted to look "pretty", "cute", etc. particularly during my VERY awkward adolescence. Then, as a young mom in my early 20's, make-up became almost a necessity to cover up the effects of sleepless nights and busy days.
Time went on and as my kids were growing up, I entered a new phase of being a "good-looking mom", always in attendance at school functions, games, etc.
My health took a crap when I was only 41, so bady that I wound up unable to work at all. I wound up being medically retired and fought a five-year battle to receive SSD, which FINALLY happened the summer of 2014.
For a long time, I couldn't have cared less about makeup; I felt like a shlub and I looked like a shlub.
Well, I'd always kept my nails nice, so I found myself getting more and more into nail "art", to the point I even began a TH-cam channel...
But I never showed my face.
Finally, I had a day, at age 51, where I'd gotten upset by some private messages and I did my first "face video".
Oh, I did NOT like how I looked - AT **ALL**!!!!!
So, that's how I got back to the makeup again.
      And today... I see this.
      Eureka!
Along with some great tutorials about dealing with crepey, hooded eyes... Yeah, I think this is well-worth my time and effort to try.
      Thank you!
Now, next question: what's your skincare routine? What are some of your more inexpensive products? (I'm on an über-tight budget!)
      💖Love & Peace☮

Hey Samantha, I love your videos, sorry I never comment. I just want you to know how pretty you are ! When you started talking about crying about your skin, my heart completely went out to you. I've cried so much about my acne over the years. It's so so hard. I don't think anyone who has never had to deal with it understands what it's like to wake up with multiple new zits on the daily, and have to apply concealer over so many bumps! If you gotta leave the house in a rush, forget about it. Or if push comes to shove, concealing the zits always takes importance over .. eating breakfast for example. Oh and the unwarranted advice from strangers all the time, like 'change your pillowcase' or 'don't touch your face with dirty hands'. OR the best - 'what are you eating?' Duh, I've tried all that! Changed pillowcase every two days, eaten vegan, gluten free, dairy free, whatever-free, haha none of it works. But the worst of all, is when you go to get a facial, or buy some new makeup or something relaxing as a treat, and you get the comment, 'wow, your skin is really... complicated.' Ok, I was trying to relax and feel good about myself for once, but thanks! Well, I just want you to know that you're great, doing all the right things, and I admire you so much. Your personality shines like hardly any other beauty youtuber out there. Keep up the amazing work. It just keeps getting better!

It's so refreshing to read this comment amidst the "have you tried this or that" and "you should/shouldn't do this or that" comments bombarding this section right now. It's annoying me for Sam, so I can only imagine how it affects her. I'm sure most of the comments are made with good intentions. But you verbalized so well how it can affect that person.
I know many are newer to the channel so don't know as much about her journey... but ... arg I'll just say a couple more words, then hush: Unsolicited advice, man.

I have the same issue with bronzer and blush application, I’m just compulsive about layering more on even though I don’t want a heavy look. This is gorgeous, and I can’t wait to try it. I’ve applied my cream highlights this way, but never the whole face. To be honest, it’s probably a better technique for skin with acne (which I have) because then you don’t risk disrupting your base when applying products on top.

Your skin is beautiful. You notice your blemishes more than we do. BUT I know exactly what you are feeling. I used to be so depressed about my acne. I am NOT a Dr. BUT I had acne in the exact places you do. NOTHING worked topically and changing my diet only slightly helped. Look into taking a DIM supplement. I used one by Estroblock and took their Liver Detox too. The placement of your acne may very well be from hormones. When our estrogen gets too high it can cause acne in those exact places on our face. And it's mainly Xenoestrogens that mimic our estrogen and it comes from all sorts of things...BPA in plastic, pesticides in fruits and veggies, bovine growth hormones, phthalates in fragrance (glade plug ins, candles, perfume, etc) and even on store receipts. These fake estrogens make us estrogen dominant and cause acne mainly on chin, jaw, neck. After taking this supplement, my acne was gone in a couple weeks but after just a couple days, all the pimples were flattened. I wish I knew about DIM years ago instead of trying every acne product out there and hiding from everyone. Good luck!

I love your raw honesty, your dry sense of humor and how you're just so chill. I don't know why I've never commented before. You know .... we all get busy doing our own things and trying to keep up that sometimes we forget to comment. But I always always hit that like button. Even though I'm like 100 years older than you, 😜 I relate to you in so many ways. (I really hate putting stuff about my own channel/videos in comments b/c it feels spammy. But it's relevant here. Please please know I'm not trying to spam your channel!) As I was watching you go through this, it seemed like this technique would probably work perfectly for the demographic that watches my channel so I had to try it out. Most times, I see a video that strikes me but am not compelled to jump on it right away. But something about this struck me immediately to where I had to film it the morning after I watched it. I so feel you. I too was cocky about my clear near perfect skin (& my hair). Then almost two years after giving birth my period came back (perks of breastfeeding, just FYI) and with it insanity. Actual acne for the first time in my life, and other horrors like panic attacks. Then to make matte s worse I was put on a medicine that made me photosensitive which I thought was no biggie bc I shun the sun. But I forgot to reapply my sunscreen at the lake and I developed brown spots. My face is now darker then the rest of my skin. Fortunately for me when I had to change my diet (bc I also got really f’ing sick with chronic fatigue syndrome-such a massive bitch) my acne improves quite a bit. Apparently my skin doesn’t like gluten and sugar. I also added acids and retinols and I suffer from very few breakouts now. But I have scars and sun damage from that day at the lake. And my hair started falling out. My two greatest vanities were stripped from me. Well I still have hair but I have to take a bunch of oils and other shit that costs to much freaking money. But I’m so sad about my skin. I wish I was different and less vain and I’m working on it but its hard. So anyways now my skin life revolves around acids and punching teeny tiny holes in my face and trying to get this shit under control. Such a pain (more then a pain, it’s a deep insecurity and sadness) and costs so much money. So I feel you.

Helena * thanks! I have heard of it but didn’t know it would help with the rosacea! I’m going to give it a try! Right now I’m using niacinamide serum in the morning and a hyaluronic acid + B5 serum at night. But I’ll just trade that out! It really only bothers me cause it feels like it’s burning when its flared up and that happens when I’m really stressed out and that could totally be psychosomatic... 😂 Thanks for the suggestion! I totally understand I’m the same way, I’m finishing up a degree in Forensic Anthropology and it’s Bio & Chem heavy.
