      Yes Gozo was lovely, such a chilled-out few hours with that boat trip too. Never been to Malta before but would definitely like to spend longer there next time.

      Hi Dr Gupta. Well many thanks for commenting and please thank your friend for recommending me, it really helps to spread the word 😊 Glad you’re enjoying the content, though I must admit if you go back too far, my early videos are a bit rubbish when it was just me and an old iphone😂 Hopefully, I’ve improved a bit since then and please stick around as I’ll be uploading lots more adventures regularly in the future. I’ve just come back from filming some stuff in Latvia, Estonia and Finland which was an amazing experience! Thanks again for your support, Mark

I’ve just come back from some of the Baltic States today and there’s gonna be lots to come from there, plus more from the U.K. - all trains, flights, bus and ferry journeys pretty-much with a few teams thrown in for good measure. We went in June 2020. The timetable changed on 1st June. The app nolonger worked and certain stops were nolonger in operation. Our experience with the airport bus was the same as yours with the trip to the airport from Valetta even worse. The bus droppedus off 300 m from the terminal and we had to negociate traffic and uneven ground to get there! Such a shame as the buses and people were very good. Just incompetent management I guess.

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stewart, sounds like things had improved somewhat by the time I got there then! I agree, once you’re on the bus the actual transport is good (and cheap) it’s just it can be a bit random at the airport in my experience and that’s where many visitors are going to get their first impression of the service. Cheers, Mark 👍

    Thanks for this one, Mark. It brought back so many memories of a favorite vacation destination... albeit my last visit was almost 20 years ago. Valletta is as stunning as ever, and although the buses are a world away from what they were back then... bright yellow 1960's beauties... it's great to see that timetables are still pretty much irrelevant and that all roads still lead to the capital ☺

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh, my first time on Malta, I thought it was great - so much history, I just couldn’t get round it in the time I had. The main advantage of the new buses was the air-con, that was certainly a godsend! I did see a couple of the old buses, they were being used as historic tour type excursions. A fantastic place that I need to return to one day but for a little bit longer stay 😊

      @@LetsMakeaTrip you definitely need to go back, as do I! The first time I was there, I stayed in Bugibba in St. Paul's Bay and the last in Sliema, opposite Valletta. Thanks to a friend who lives there, I unfortunately know that a lot of the country is unrecognizable now, mostly thanks to the low-rise limit on development, island-wide, being abolished a few years ago. So, a lot of the character and charm is fast disappearing... but that won't stop me going back, one day

    Only just came across this video of yours, another fab vid too, I love Malta as well, I went in April 2019 and it was the one of the best holidays I’ve had, given the size of the island there is lots to do, had a jam packed full 7 days when I went, like you we also went to Gozo on the ferry which was very pleasant, Gozo is lovely, it has this castle I think it is and an animal/history museum which was really enjoyable, watching the sun set on the top of the castle was the highlight of the trip :D defo would recommend staying in Gozo as it’s lovely

    Great video. I went to Malta back in 2002 when my dad won a local radio competition in Birmingham. Went a couple of years ago for my dad's 60th as well. If I go again, I will probs do my own thing all the time as the trips they try to sell you in hotels are a rip off. Prices on the buses and ferries are good. I remember the yellow buses back in 2002. On that occasion, the driver pulled the gear stick out changing gear and just casually slotted it back in whilst driving as if nothing had happened.

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, thanks for the comment. I really enjoyed reading that - especially the bit about the gear stick! The drivers are a bit hit and miss I think. Put it this way, I’d hand over my €2 and I may/may not get a ticket 🤣 this was my first time on Malta, yes I’d like to go again and maybe stay in Valletta next time, I think there’s a lot more to explore there. All the best, Mark

    As I live in Malta, I'd have suggested you to travel to Gozo via the Fast Ferry from Valletta. And if you were in Birzebbuga, you could travel up north with X4 as far as the airport and then catch the X1 service to Cirkewwa. Alternatively to travel to Valletta you could take X4 or 80 (that one is the longest one though). Route 41 passes under my house and has like 70ish stops on the way
    Until 2017, they used to park buses around the Triton Fountain, before they pedestrianised it

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Enrico, thanks for the info and yes it was great to visit your beautiful island. I came back from Cirkewwa via the airport which I think was the X1. Trouble was, the onward buses to Birzebugga either didn’t turn up or they had different route numbers/destinations. In hindsight, I may have gone back via Valletta but overall, it was good fun and very cheap. Didn’t know there was a fast ferry to Gozo but it does make sense I guess. Cheers for the comment.

      @@LetsMakeaTrip the Gozo Fast Ferry is a very good option which they started around one year ago. It works fairly well but often stops in case of bad weather, in which case they will activate the X300 bus route which travels between Valletta and Cirkewwa with only two stops

      @@enricomonti156 Thanks for information guys so the fast ferry can only be caught from Valletta no we're else ?. What bus number will be the fastest to the normal ferry to gozo from Sliema.Thanks.

    • @enricomonti156
      @enricomonti156 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dani-jq6db yes, from Malta the fast ferry can be taken only from Valletta at Lascaris Wharf, near the old customs House. As to get there, the fastest way would be to take the ferry between Sliema and Valletta and from there you can take a shuttle bus that will take you to the Gozo Fast Ferry pier. Alternatively you can take bus numbers 13, 13A, 14, 15, 16 and 21 from Sliema Ferries to Valletta bus terminus, from there you either walk to the ferry terminal or take shuttle route X133

    • @enricomonti156

I know they run a new fleet these days but do you still see mk1 escorts and transits and the odd Lada still in Malta? I'm in sunny Newport South Wales at the minute. Sprinter trains and Gold Stagecoach buses it is 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇲🇹

I didn’t see much of the old stuff in Malta tbh, a couple of classic buses which were red as I recall though they’re going back well before the 90’s. Somebody on here may know? Scott, the old buses were bright yellow and each was individually named too in honor of a wide range of people. I happened to travel on the Mika Hakkinen a number of times when I was last there
