funny because I just bought that same Dell monitor to go with my alienware ultrawide oled lol, basically will just use the oled as a purely gaming monitor or movies, and the dell for basic content consumption, work, etc.. Want my oled too last for years so less static content on it the better! Now I need to set up my cinema display as a vertical monitor too lol, hope my gpu can handle it.

The need for a new GPU is never ending!

The best reason I've found not to do it is in-home streaming. It's a nightmare trying to stream 21:9 to 16:9. Other than that, go for it. I upgraded from a 38" ultrawide to a 32" 4k OLED and don't regret it personally.

Ive been considering going from my 34" oled to a 4k oled but I feel for gaming 4k is still a bit too much for most cards.. It can even make the 4090 look average on games like cyberpunk with raytracing and all that unless you crank the dlss

Agreed, I’ve since definitely come across a few shows with various iterations of black bars. There are browser extensions out there that will “zoom” to the correct aspect ratio, but you’re losing out on resolution by going this route.
That said, I do think the pros outweigh the cons, especially if you use another dedicated screen for streaming purposes.

How’s that Dell screen for gaming? Hear there are some flickering issues with Freesync/G-sync? Is the ghosting okay? Is the screen fluid?
Thanks in advance and nice video!

No flickering issues, but I also think context is important. I’ve never had a gaming specific monitor before, so this is worlds above anything I’ve used and I don’t notice issues with ghosting/sync/fluidity/etc.
If you’re coming from another gaming monitor some of these may be noticeable, but I haven’t had anything but a positive experience on my end. Thanks for the kind words!

Ghosting is great, but there is some black smearing noticeable in all od modes, otherwise it's butter smooth

For simracing and Flightsimming 21:9 or even wider is a must, a true game changer. For most triple AAA open world games or 3rd person action, fps-games (maybe if competitive) it is more of a luxury and I can live without. It is also quite demanding, so I switch to regular 16:9 1440p often if the framerate struggles on Ultrawide. For office work or otherwise, well I do not really do that outside of Words, so not really an opinion about that.

Great vid! Could you play games 16:9 and then use the remaining 5:9 portion for productivity for browser or other apps?

I’m pretty sure you can! You will have to run the game in windowed mode and manually set the resolution to your desired size.

Ultrawides are great but honestly, I feel like 21:9 isn’t worth it the larger aspect ratios though are so worth it

Understandable! Personally, I'm loving the 21:9. But yes, you certainly do lose out on some verticality .

I'd say 32" 4k is better than 21:9 UW but I'd say 21:9 UW is the second best resolution to use, 32:9 is kinda useless for 90% of people @@16ozsetups

Great point! Can’t say I’ve ever experienced an Ultra-Ultrawide (?) in person. Definitely worth distinguishing between the two aspect ratios.

Its definitely worth it. Coming from a guy who has an oled ultrawide and a 42 4k oled, ultrawide is better.

Hi there, please what distance from table to lower side of monitor if you move monitor to max height ?

    • @16ozsetups
      @16ozsetups  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hi! I've now put my monitor on it's own monitor arm, so vertical height is adjustable if needed. Stock mount offers only 3.9" of vertical adjustability, so I would recommend a third party mount if you're looking for a specific height requirement.
