    You need to use a adj camgear and advance that K-cam about 6 degr. That way you can make the engine start pulling from lower rpm.
    As for ping: your car has an EZK ign control module. It has a knock sensor input. If the EZK senses knock it pulls timing advance automatically.
    Jou might be able to make the knock sensor to react earlier by increasing the torque on the bolt that fixes the knock sensor to the block. You can find the sensor under the intake manifold between cil1 and cil2. Just tighten it down some more but don't go crazy. You don't want to snap that bolt

    The K cam will make alot over the T cam if it got the fuel needed. It's an overlapping cam, essentially wasting some fuel into the exhaust. So you would probably have seen a bigger difference comparing on lower boost.

      im pretty bummed we did the whole test with a small boost leak , but with that being said i dont think the boost leak had a huge effect on numbers and you can still expect a good gain from the mbc

      @@TheAussieRod Yeah, heck for anyone still in doubt, look at it this way: Most peeps who gets a Volvo to hoon around and learn to mod, doesn't get one with fresh factory engine.
      They get one with engine that has 500k and piston slap that puts a dashboard bobblehead to shame.
      If anything the test is authentic as a small boost-leak replicates a well used B230x(x) driven by the fossiles that owned it all those years before it was destined to go out as a bright light!

      @@ToreDL87 Amen to this! Much more of a "real world" test because you have to account for and trouble shoot along the way. Dyno videos never show the hours of headaches to prep/repair issues before sexy pulls happen!

      @@LucoreAuto my Daily driver hauler 944 has upped boost, springs, full exhaust.... 130horse is so boring in a 1.5ton car when you are used to asian boxes with 130hp and 1tonne 😂

      @@maxpower700 As Hot Rod people we are used to modifying literally everything, from our DDs to racecars to our freaking jet skis! But with this TurboWagon I PROMISED myself I wouldn't modify it... at least for a little while..
      Being totally honest with myself and everyone else there's a good chance boost intake exhaust and suspension will be done at the least on this thing. But trying hard not to!

    this is a good video! can you make more of this dyno comparisant videos? like bigger turbo? of the shelf chips? standalone? I have a setup with a A-cam and a garret gt30 turo running white t5 injectors with a tlao fuel ship and original gold ignition box :D so what I take out of this is that my car are running around 200hp on the rear wheels :P running about 1.3 bar of boost :D

    Awesome videos. I just got a 1989 740 turbo auto that I'd like to swap to a manual but I don't have the skills or resources to do myself.

    My 91 Volvo 740 Turbo sedan auto has bad piston slap and engine knock. Ran it low on oil once damaged it. What's the best Turbo boost controller? Want to swap newer B230FT with squirters next.

    Did you pull the plugs and gap them first for when you added boost? You might find you were leaning out because your gap was too wide and not igniting all the fuel

    1. Why don’t I see a fan blowing on the inter Cooler?
    2. Did you try the K with more timing? The lower dynamic compression should allow that.
    3. I had colt cams in Langley modify my k cam to adjust the intake lobes, more suited for a boosted application. Not sure if they are still around.

    Pull the vac on the bov and youll get choochoodose goodness👍 its still a maf-car and itll die when you let off approaching a roundabout or intersection, but thats no problem for you ii guess haha
    (oh, and excess fuel galore aswell... Pops and bangs brah)

    Hey DnL, if you want turbo flutters you can disconnect the hose that goes from the BOV to the intake hose, mine accidentally blew off the other day and i didnt realize until it fluttered like crazy, itll try to die if you instantly let off the gas atleast for me but if you go into it then let off but keep slight gas youll be fine👌

      Because the ecu doesn't understand where the boost went when you let the throttle off, you can fix this with a mapped ecu, or I've been told you can move the maf to correct this

    Yooooo guy, I think you may want to do a little bit more research on your cam information. When I was going through performance forced induction courses during my Automotive Training at my local Technical College I'm quite sure I remember the lesson on cams explaining for Turbo applications you want the intake valves to be open as long as possible during the stroke to allow the most amount of air possible to enter the chamber to create the most bang.

    Anybody running an IPD cam on their B230FT? I installed one on a fresh OEM rebuild and only saw marginal performance improvement. Maybe I should crank up the boost or install an adjustable cam gear?

    Great content. I haven't watched your channel in a while but was blown away with how big your traps are now!
    PS: IPD T cam not as powerful as K cam.. IPD T cam has better idle but levels out around 4300 RPMs where as the K cam keeps pulling (as you saw on your Dyno pulls).
    Maybe you could look for an RSI Stage 2 or 3 cam and put some good, used White Engine turbo injectors on.

    You should try e85 in it (you’ll have to use injectors that are at least 30% larger) e85 is 108 octane and you could probably get away with stock timing with that much knock resistance

      they dont come up as often for cheap where im from ! and in all reality they are the exact same car other than the body and interior , i also prefer the boxyness of the 740

    Less Overlap for turbocharged engines u want too build preasure in the cylinder u almost want zero overlap loosing fuel out the exhuast your boost pressure will carry better and start sooner

    Good video looking to do this to my 740 crank shaft position sensor is super stuck in there was wondering if that’s ever happened to you and how to get it out. All the plastic around it has snapped off as well... got it out and boy was it mangled but now I can’t seem to get the car to run. I’m guessing I didn’t get the timing right

    Enjoying the videos! Ive layed my eyes on a particular 740, but its na 2.3. Is a turbo install a possible option or its too complicated and cost-ineffective compared to upping boost on stock turbo one?

      Hi. I can help you with that. Volvo is your best and cheapest option.With the NA you will gane much more power with 14PSI for cheap you will be having more power then a S240 nissan turbo. this is 2.3L stock internl you geth max 300Hp

      karlisb22 hi. I don’t how much money you want to spent. You can use td03 from a evo. Or a aftermarket turbo. Buy your self a microsquirt or chip tune the stock ecu. I don’t know your goal. Evo turbo and micro injector bosch green.arround 65$ micro is 350$ turbo find a offer. For maximum 1000$ you have 300hp if you be smarr it will cost you much less.

    I wonder if lh2.4 is as bad as lh2.2, I'm kind of worried about running my new engine with h beams and hx35 turbo on a stock lh2.4 ecu with chips for big injectors after seeing this video 😣

      ever see my videos from our lh2.4 ostrich chip dyno tuning sessions with goldie back in the day? i had a t3t4 and ipd cam etc etc and a pre made chip from TLAO , the premade chip was freaking awfull and caused it to be waaay to rich and detonate hard on boost onset , dan was able to dyno tune and make his own chips for the car and i gained 40ish whp and like 80ftlbs of torque and it was alooot better to drive

      @@kirb_206rc as someone who tunes for a living dan says premade chips are retarded unless theyre a chip exactly for this turbo this cam this head this intercooler etc. But every setup is different thats why premade chips are shitty

    I just got a '92 940 Turbo and like to start modding it.
    Do you have a list of mods I can do to my ride?
    I've already drilled four 1/16" holes in the turbo waste gate line and put in a boost gauge.
    I'm peaking at 13psi and then it drops down to 11-12psi as I get closer to redline.
    What should I do next???
