What if Rex and Ahsoka Convinced Jesse in The Clone Wars Finale?

  • In today's what if/theory video let's explore the events to lead if Ahsoka and Rex were successful in convincing Jesse and the rest of the 501st to disobey their orders of Order 66. With reason and logic, I think Rex could have bought some time to get them all to the medical facility and take out their inhibitor chips. This would give Ahsoka a massive clone army all to herself, and begin the Clone uprising, changing the fate of The Mandalorian, events on Malachor with Vader vs Ahsoka and more.

I used to believe that being a good soldier meant doing everything they told you. That’s how they engineered us. But we’re not droids, we’re not programmed. You have to learn to make your own decisions.

I think Jesse kind of hesitated when Rex told him, but seeing Ahsoka made him realize he should follow his orders, maybe if there were no Jedi there Rex would be able to convince most of the Clone Troopers that it wasn’t right to betray their masters. Seeing Ahsoka there reminded Jesse what his orders were.

    • @yunting9503
      @yunting9503 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@rexex345 Really depends if you’re looking at Legends or Canon. Legends Clones are arguably non-sentient, feel little to no hesitation in committing atrocities and follow orders almost as closely as a droid. Therefore, in Legends Cody simply shoots Obi-Wan with no remorse because it’s an order.
In Canon, Clones are given much more personality. They’re bred to serve and die fighting for the Republic, but they have thoughts and emotions too. As seen in the Umbara Arc, the 501st can disobey orders they believe they are wrong. However unlike Rex Cody has very little characterization besides being a good soldier who follows orders. It’s completely possible he felt no remorse while shooting his Commanding Officer down. Maybe he even felt glad, ridding the Republic of a traitor. Then again, this is Obi-Wan Kenobi, the highly-competent General he served beside for 4 years, who just took down Grevious, the face of the Separatists. So perhaps he hesitated, realized this was illogical. Perhaps he fought the chip even as he was giving the order. It’s your interpretation to pick and choose.
Fanon Cody absolutely hates himself for (as he thinks) killing his General and wants to throw himself off a cliff.

Honestly, I wish that could have been enough to damage the chip in Jesses mind and help save him. He was my favorite clone and i wish they could have done him a little better than they did.

I like to believe that Rex was able to fight off order 66 more than any other clone was bc he connected with anakin ahsoka and obi wan more than any other clone with their Jedi general. Ani ahsoka and obi were really the only Jedi to show feelings, emotions and personal interests and was able to form a true friendship. In the clone wars show, all other Jedi were devoted to the code and were basically mindless drones following the code without a second thought and their clones were just warriors fighting along side them.(besides yoda, he was a nice guy but brainwashed by the corrupt order for 900+yrs)
Random thought but I accept it as cannon in my head

    • @joshuaschreiber1914
      @joshuaschreiber1914 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Pre warning: There’s pretty much a story here. Skip to the last 4-6 paragraphs for a much shorter version. Sorry lol I got way into it
I’ve wondered about that as well. I feel like the council would see that and tell Anakin about it. This is Anakin as he’s telling Windu about Sidious. Windu then thanks Anakin for the information and tells him the same thing as he did before, only this time instead of sending him to the council chambers he sends him after Ashoka, after informing Anakin of Ashokas collaboration with Maul.
Now Anakin is left with a crossroad dilemma:
      1. Save Palpatine - the only real father figure he’s had
      Or
      2. Save Ashoka, the little sister he never had.
Tbh I would say he would ultimately try to find Ashoka. I say this because he had lingering doubts about Palpy, but when Ashoka was in question before he didn’t hesitate to help her. He also would know it would be what Padme would want, that being a huge difference, whereas before he felt he didn’t need to worry about Ashokas ability to defeat Maul and therefore his focus was entirely on Palpatines lie.
      Moving on.
Anakin is now in pursuit of Ashoka, grasping desperately at any information he can get. As he does this, Windu has already raided the senate office and ex exited Palpatine. Maul had already seen that by luring Anakin away, this would happen, and the galaxies largest threat would be eliminated. He then attempts to turn Ashoka to the dark side, little by little. But Ashoka is resistant. Eventually Anakin catches up, and in a great spurt of emotions - rage and confusion being the most prominent - Anakin approaches the Sith Lord and his prior apprentice. His saber is lit as he glances at Maul with an icy glare, then turns his gaze to Ashoka.
“What are you doing? Do you know how worried we are about you? Why did you go with this monster? Your job was to capture him!”
Ashoka replies, “He told me of a conspiracy - a man playing both sides of the war - and you. I had to do this.”
“Who is this man?” Anakins mind flashes to Palpatine, now reeling from the implications, which were becoming far worse than he had imagined. Even Maul - the bane of Obi Wans existence - was so afraid of that man that he was willing to join his enemies to defeat Palpatine.
Anakin turns to Maul: “Tell me everything you know.”
Maul was shocked. He was expecting a fight on a massive scale, but instead opened a dialogue - albeit a tense one.
He explained everything to Anakin, as the Jedi listened intently.
      There was silence.
      Finally, Anakin spoke.
“Master Windu has already raided the false senators office, and with other masters, I’m sure. If what you say is true, however - though I hate to admit it - I owe you for saving me from my blunder,” he said to Maul. “But things should be over now. Release Ashoka and I’ll allow you to leave - and even throw off any ensuing pursuits - as thanks.”
Maul replies, “My old ‘Master,” he spat the last word out with venom, “will not fall so easily. Do you REALLY want to risk your pathetic Jedi order failing to destroy such a terrible threat? Is it worth the risk?”
      Anakin paused.
“… I have faith in Windu and his fellow masters, but…”
“But you aren’t sure if that faith is misplaced. You are trusting mentors who never really cared about you because they feared you. And now, now you are doubting if they really can defeat Sidious - as he is properly known.”
Anakin wanted to speak out, but he found he couldn’t deny the truth in Mauls words. Maul, seeing the doubt cross Anakins face, began to tempt him into joining him.
However, Ashoka also saw the indecision on Anakins person.
“Anakin!” She shouted. “We can’t trust Maul. And more than me, YOU can’t trust Maul. Master Windu will succeed. Have faith. I have my problems with the Order, but they are powerful.”
Anakin was shaken, but she was right. But he replied to her, saying, “then what about you? What are you planning to do? You know I can’t just let you go with Maul. The Order won’t allow it.”
Ashoka responded by saying, “I don’t plan on turning to the dark side or joint Maul. I’m only using him to save you. But now that Master Windu has dealt with Sidious, maybe we should consider what we are going to do now.”
“You sound as though you have a plan? What are you thinking now, snips?”
Ashoka began smiling ever so slightly, pleased at the pleasant return to pet names.
“We are going to go with Maul back to Coruscant and face Sidious together.”
Maul looked at Ashoka, shocked at her bold statement.
“And why would we do this? Why would I - the foremost Lord of the Sith aside from Sidious - risk my plans just to see you and your foolish allies fail?”
“Well, if you’re so sure Master Windu and us are going to fail, then why haven’t you left us yet? You don’t sound very convincing, you know.”
Maul glares at her silently for some time, Ashoka staring back with a knowing look, Anakin - for the first time in his life - unsure of what action to take.
Finally, Maul spoke. In a voice filled with disgust, he told them, “very well. I will follow you to Coruscant. But our deaths are on your head should we fail. And you -“ he looked at Anakin, “I expect safe transportation away from you fools, as promised, after this ordeal is over.”
“You have my word,” Anakin replied, finally having been convinced of a course he could take.
So to avoid confusing turning this into a story, they head to Coruscant, find Windu killed Sidious, and ended up at odds with the Jedi Council.
The Council wanted Maul and Ashoka arrested for crimes against the republic, but Anakin refused to hand them over, on account of his promise to Maul and feelings for Ashoka. There was an uproar which ended in the trio being joined by a percentage of the Jedi who were fed up with the Order, including Obi Wan, who felt that though Maul deserved punishment for Satines untimely death, it was ultimately the republic who failed to take action in time to save her.
Thus a new Order consisting of Grey Jedi was made with a more efficient system of governance, with Anakin at the forefront.
The old and outdated Jedi order eventually fell apart after the separation of the two Order’s, the Republic - now lacking the backing of the Jedi - merged with the remaining Separatists to form a new union and a stronger system.
And Maul turned to the light side, at long last, and became the first Grey Sith, an equivelant of a grey Jedi, but holding true to his origins.

It’s a good theory, however I feel like Mail would throw a wrench in that plan. Even if Rex was able to reason with them, I feel as though they would revert to their crazed state when they saw Maul. Maul would still be trying to escape the ship, as he knows that he is still the enemy regardless of order 66. The only way that wouldn’t happen is if they were able to remove the chips of all the clones before the Venator crashed which they would not have time to do.

If they were able to remove the chips and Join Ashoka it could have set up a crossover with the Bad Batch very easily. Where Ahsoka’s 501st infiltrate Kamino and convince most of the other clones to remove their chips. That could set up the battle of Kamino we were looking forward to. The new Stormtroopers could attack alongside the chipped Clones while some of the out gunned and outnumber clones might resort to wearing the phase 1 armor as they get ready for a final defense of Kamino. Just like it was a powerful moment when the clones realized they unknowingly were fighting each other on Umbara, this battle could be a callback to that while they know they’re killing their brothers.
It could end with chipped clones resisting their chips after realizing that after killing so many of their brothers they must be on the wrong side despite what their chip is telling them. This would lead to the Star destroyers (filled only with TK troopers) opening fire on the cities and sinking them with all the clones still in them. We could see some escaping while others rush to save the tech and baby clones still in vats. Could have been arguably the most shocking and heartbreaking moment of the entire series. Finally ending with Ashoka flying off world with the few remaining survivors of the 501st as they fly off to next fight against the empire.

Looks like too many cooks in the kitchen at Lucasfilm because the way I understand Order 66 is that it applies to Jedi only and since Ahsoka is no longer a Jedi it wouldn't apply to her or any other non-Jedi Force user. Since it did, it should apply to Vader, Sidious, Inquisitors, and all other Force users regardless of affiliation. A simple line of dialogue in "Revenge of the Sith" would've taken care of this problem.
From the dialog in "Revenge of the Sith" about Order 66 there was no mention of non-compliant Clones or other scenarios that retconned the original meaning in the last season of "The Clone Wars" and "The Bad Batch."

    • @manofmercy1500
      @manofmercy1500 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Think that Order 66 Targets are pre-chosen by Palpatine like some sort of mental list of current Jedi at the time to identify & execute later on. Hence why although Ahsoka is technically no longer with the Jedi, she still counts as one since the chips were planted while she was still a youngling & unless Palpatine had a way to update the chips programming (then again he probably wouldn’t even if he could since she still posed a passive threat to Anakin’s turn to the dark side), there’s no real way to update the chips to identify her status as “civilian”.
