For everyone who has asked, you can find a list of my mods at: christhekey.weebly.com/mods.html The link is now also available in the 'About' section of the video. All public nexus mods are listed, and my unique mods are being updated here as well. Cheers!
My biggest tip would be ARTILLERY ARTILLERY ARTILLERY. I would always use artillery to soften up an enemy base/location then I would go in and clean up with my rifle.
There's no way I'm letting gravy boy and his crew outta the museum to get anything from the minutemen. A worthwhile sacrifice to not have a single interruption about another settlement that needs my help.
Here are some valuable tips that I've learned for survival mode/permadeath: Caps: - Prewar money; weightless, infinite supply at Lexington bank that respawns every 8 hours of game time if you DO NOT go into the Super Duper mart! * Simply setup a bed and sink at the Drive-in just north of Lexington, sleep 8 hours, run down to bank, pick up PWM and return. Rinse and repeat as needed, about 150 PWM per run. - Ammo: save all that you don't use for your preferred guns, low weight and can sell for 1 cap per, getting the Scrounger perk will boost this caps source * Put into a storage container you make at your settlements, store until you are ready to buy stuff - Drugs: I only ever use Berry and Grape Mentats, and sell the rest, they have a high cap/weight making them ideal for selling for caps * Put into a storage container you make at your settlements, store until you are ready to buy stuff - Purified water: heavy, but you can make a lot if you build water generators in Sanctuary (whenever you find Carla in Sanctuary, sell them to her for ammo or materials + all her caps) * Remove every 24 hours game time or it won't accumulate anymore, remove all Aid items and bottles from settlement storage (put them into your own storage) - Caltrop & Poisoned Caltrops: heavy, but you can make a lot of them and they have a high value and you get XP for making them * Same as above, put into your own storage for when you want to use them to buy stuff Food: - Wild Mutfruit is plntiful around Red Rocket & Abernathy farm, as long as you DO NOT go into the Molerat Den, they will respawn every 24 hours of game time making them excellent food source early on - Get the magazine at Sunshine Tidings before killing animals, it will double your meat extraction from killing animals - Cooked Radstag increases carry weight by 25 lbs. for 1 hour real time - Noodle Soup (Razorgrain + Dirty Water) both feeds and hydrates you - At all settlements, grow; Mutfruit, Corn, Tatoes (for Vegetable Starch/adhevsive) and Razorgrain (for Noodle soup) - Collect all empty bottles when going around, use these to produce Purified Water with Sink, Waterfountain or Pump - Put as many water generators as you can at Sanctuary, Drive-in, etc. for free purified water supply Surviving: - Avoid; flying insects (always), feral ghouls (have a safe spot that they can't reach you so you can pot shot them), molerats (especially the unique at Olivia with a mine strapped to it) and mirelurks until you reach level 20+ - Avoid any unnecessary fights --> this is one of the hardest lessons to learn, but don't start anything unless you really know the extent of the fight you're getting into - Learn where the frequent respawn areas are (e.g. the diner just west of Hangman's Alley) respawn enemies very quickly (8 hours of game time?), avoid if you're not ready for a fight - Swim whenever possible, best way to travel with lowest risk --> get Aqua Boy/Girl perk early! - Run/Sneak whenever you aren't swimming, but stay aware of your surroundings, you don't want to get into the middle of a bunch of feral ghouls or flying insects by mistake Rads/HP: - Decontaimination Arch at settlements removes all rads, as soon as you get enough Fibre Optic mats, make one, you'll never regret it - Cooked Mutant Dog removes rads, carry 2-4 with you all the time - Hazmat suit gives 1,000 resisitance to Radiation, you can always find one at Farron's in Diamond City and on the first mission with Deacon for the Railroad (in the room next to where you get Deliverer) - Nuka-cola + Dirty water or Nuka-cola + Nuka Cherry = no rad, high hp recovery drinks --> build a Nuka Cola station in your main settlements and always carry 4-6 with you, hotkey them (they are better than Stimpacks), plus they give you caffeine to offset tiredness - Wild Mutfruit (only 2 rads per), cooked animal meat & purified water for typical HP recovery, plus you make XP by cooking food Sleeping: - Raised beds are "clean" and can be slept in >5 hours, full rest - Mattresses and sleeping bags on the ground are "dirty" and can only be slept in
Damn, I am also playing survival on permadeath but that part of no drugs is crazy to me. I live on a constant 24/7 bufftats + psychobuff + jet fuel combo haha. Thanks for the tip when it comes to the soup, it is just a straight up better way of eating and drinking than what I am currently doing.
@mortenbecksrensen7409 if you like permadeath playthroughs, there is a new mod on Nexus called, "Permadeath" that erases all your saves and writes an obituary when you die. Makes restarting easier because you don't have of those old saves cluttering up your drive. BTW, why do you use that drug combo? I tend to play a stealthy sniper build and never need drugs except in a couple of specific encounters (e.g. Sinjin to save Keny and Kellogg)
If I may add a number 6 tip: Build 2 large water purifiers in Sanctuary immediately. Not only do you get spammable healing items that are actually OP in the early game but any remaining water can be sold for a relatively good amount of caps to vendors which will help you upkeep more expensive ammo types and buy chems or craftables for healing/curing with.
You can still exchange items even without caps as long as your items' value are higher. I used water as currency aside from some crafting or speech that actually need caps.
If you apply bloody mess, it will increase your damage to the 10 mm (read all weapons), plus their is the lone wander perk as well. Life giver is also a good one to max out as it makes up for any damage you get from being over encumbered and you don't die by accident. Sneak maxing is a must as well as you don't set off land mines or any other traps too. Taking the breathing underwater perk is also a quick way to get around parts of the map. I kind of like starting out with full intelligence, go to sanctuary, grab a beer from the basement bunker, and then go to the character's old home. Their I get near the special book, drink the beer, make sure my intelligence is now 9 due to it, then select the special book. Once the beer wears off, I now have 11 intellect for the rest of the game.
One thing I've found to be extremely beneficial in survival is to get the perks "action boy" and "moving target". Those combined with say 4 "Sprinters" gear, and you zoom around the map, which is very helpful considering there is no fast travel except for the vertibird flares (which have a wait time and are dolled out sparingly from vendors). With ballistic weave hat and clothing, plus switching to "Sentinel's" gear in pipboy for bigger fights, you are still tough as hell. The speed you run saves tons of time. Just tap VATS as you speed along to detect mines and enemies since you cover ground so fast.
Honestly having chemist as soon as possible is hella good. Crafting poisoned caltrops gives a lot of early exp, given on how much steel you can aquire. They can also sell for a gooooood price!
I love the Aqua Boy/Girl perks for Survival Mode. Water becomes your get out of jail free card during outdoor combat. More importantly the waterways become your freeways empty of any threats.
Note you can grab Hazmat suit from Polymer Labs at any level, even level 1. It is NW from the bridge leading to Diamond City, with the boat crashed into it. Good alternative for those with low Endurance (i usually start with END1...) ((to safely reach this on low level go NE from Sanctuary to the Robotics Disposal Grounds and activate the Sentry Bot, send it to South Boston Military Checkpoint. Follow from the distance. It goes by Tenpines Bluff, Cambridge (sniper gun on top of the Red Rocket Gas Station there), Covenant, all the way to Polymer Labs. Also this is a safe way to get to Diamond City.))
--Don't clear areas which spawn mirelurks & eggs if you can avoid it. This ensures the area will fully respawn upon each visit. Cutler Bend is a great example. Just travel along one side of the river per visit, collecting eggs & meat. Those mirelurk eggs combined with dirty water yield mirelurk egg omelets, each capable of filling you up from a peckish state with only one serving. They each weigh 0.1 pounds, making them priceless. Stockpile them for long trips where you are away from support, such as forays into the Glowing Sea or Far Harbor. You get as much nutrition from 1 pound of mirelurk egg omelets as you would from 10 pounds of mutt chops or grilled radstag. --Craft and use the Nuka mixer stations! Nuka cola and dirty water become Nuka Free, which allows you to stave off fatigue while adding zero radiation. This can allow you to keep the high adrenaline damage bonus going when necessary.
I don't know about permadeth runs, but Survival Mode is the only way to play 4. I love how everything has a use, from empty bottles to pencils. It's no longer useless junk. Bottles make purified water for instance.
It's funny when I run into people that are surprised at using the 10mm to take down tough enemies. On my last survival permadeath run, I defeated both Coulter & the Nukalurk Queen with the 10mm, and both were very short fights. Also, thank you for including berry mentats! Antifreeze bottle is probably the most underrated junk item.
The Ten is just rock-solid. You get lots of shots, crit meter fills up like a champ, damage is reliable with the Gunslinger perk, and you find ammo on every other dead raider. :)
@@seanrimada8571 it’s good, but not that much better than a normal 10mm. Dealing extra limb damage doesn’t equate to dealing more damage to an enemy’s HP. It just means you’ll cripple limbs faster. So if you use VATS, it can be good for things like stopping high level ghouls in their tracks by targeting their legs. But on a non-VATS build, you probably won’t see much of a difference from using a non-legendary 10mm.
@@seanrimada8571 and with auto receiver and everything else for recoil reduction you get a Kriss Vector SMG. 24 bullets from 20 meter distance, all into a targets chest and purrs like a kitten :)
Survival mode is the only fun way to play FO4 , honestly have a great time playing survival mode , really love the challenge and makes building settlements even more fun and important Imo SV is the absolute best way to play the game
Easy to forget if you are closer to any of your settlements (3-4 square tiles, if near the limit shoot it towards the settlement) call Minuteman with flare. If they win yaay, if they fall more loot. The flares are super cheap.
Here's another tip I found, Fallout Wiki stated that with enough sleep (7 hours or more) you can stay awake for 12-14 hours. But since I always walk in sneak mode everywhere and never run or sprint, I can stay awake for more than 24 hours. Not sure the exact times, I only noticed this when I completed Nuka Worlds Power Play, cant find bed there, so I always watched the timer. Completed the quest after 23 hours without tired when I finally used a bed to save. Another thing for Nuka World, if you let Operator alive you'll unlocked their perk that give straight increase for any weapon with silencer, not a stealth attack, but raw damage.
Another Pro Tip is to finish the Show No Mercy Quest as soon as you can. From there you can atleast use some Vertibird Grenades to use the Vertibird to travel far ass distances
"Talk to Mama Murphy". Ha, nice try but she's staying locked inside the museum along with the others because I never came back after the deathclaw fight. No more bitching Marcy. No more downer Jun. And most importantly no settlements needing my help.
2:23 EXCUSE ME, YOU MEAN I RAN ACROSS THE ENTIRE MAP FROM SANCTUARY TO DIAMOND CITY LIKE A MADMAN FOR NO REASON AFTER GETTING INFECTED. I THOUGHT IT WAS PERMANENT UNTIL A DOCTOR OR ANTIBIOTIC WAS USED
This was in my recommended and I love it, great video and I'm a small gaming TH-camr myself, and I'm your 125th sub, awesome, I'm about to hit 130 myself, and I love me some Fallout 4, and Fallout in general. The sleeping away infection is really useful, I'm definitely going to be using that.
This game also does something to me I love. Makes me LEARN from my mistakes. At least because I don't go doing the same thing twice if I die but like last night. I knew I shouldn't have tried to help oberland station so early in my playthrough but did. I was doing fine and then died randomly to god knows what I never saw it 😂
Just throwing out something I did in my first time and am do run through survival is to sell all the chems u get from diamond city blues quest to cricket a buy spray’n’pray, very powerful weapon for a start, tho fighting trish is a challenge
Safe way to Tenpines Bluff, Cambridge, Covenant, Polymer labs, Diamond city, .45 combat gun, .308 sniper gun, hazmat suit, doctors, etc. etc. To safely reach these on low level (i tested this on level 1) go NE from Sanctuary to the Robotics Disposal Grounds and activate the Sentry Bot, send it to South Boston Military Checkpoint. Follow from the distance. It goes by Tenpines Bluff, Cambridge (sniper gun on top of the Red Rocket Gas Station there), Covenant, all the way to Polymer Labs NW from the bridge with boat crashed into it leading to Diamond City. Covenant has doctor, easy quest if you don't save the girl, and .45 combat gun at caravan. Also you can harvest, have clean bed, and daily Deezer's lemonade! :D Cambridge Police Station the metal guy will handle things, even at the next quest. Loot the Station. The next quest gives lot of loot, and a legendary laser weapon. Polymer Labs has Hazmat suit (no high end aquaboy aquagirl needed), and superb Power Armor chest piece. Easy fun mission, many circuitry (telephones) too. Diamond City has doctors, traders, you can harvest, etc. For me the followed Sentry bugged out at the bridge near Diamond City and teleported back to the Robotics Disposal, to be used again. All of these is way better than instantly self destructing him for 2 Fusion cores. Of course the Fatman and mininuke (kick then you can grab.... kick gently ... KABOOOM) at the gate is added bonus visiting the Robotics Disposal Grounds.
I got an infection from the rad roach near the bridge in sanctuary on my new run today. Ran all the way down to Palidan dances police station because there’s antibiotics there. Almost died trying to get there
Safe way to Cambridge, Covenant, Polymer labs, Diamond city: To safely reach these on low level go NE from Sanctuary to the Robotics Disposal Grounds and activate the Sentry Bot, send it to South Boston Military Checkpoint. Follow from the distance. It goes by Tenpines Bluff, Cambridge (sniper gun on top of the Red Rocket Gas Station there), Covenant, all the way to Polymer Labs NW from the bridge with boat crashed into it leading to Diamond City
i have sum 50 charactors in survival mode i am playing only fallout 4 , best part of this mode i like planning out you game start to get something very high armor or weapon i start with the mini gun ammo from prestins roof then use it as money to fund my adventure , cash it in for caps then i head off to nuka world at level 5 with one jet i use it to get in the subway from the roof behind the park i jump on the roof . (make sure when get in the subway to head left go behind the train hide from the assultron ) do the gauntlet fairly easy once you see the pattern ..use the 21 grenades in the traps to kill overboss i dont go into the room with overboss i stay in the entrance , once he he dead i got super power armor rest of the game failry easy ...then i head off to shovel museum and recover the loot from the battles return to the refreshment stand with the bed and save 12 hours head off to the shovel museum again repeat get good gear and armor for level 5 then at level 13 i upgrade my gunnut to level 2 use the recovered minigun from shovel museum super muntants to covert it too shredder then you got the most powerful weapon in fallout 4 ...minigun shredder without ammo from thier you can make any charactor at level 13 go after any weapon or outfit .
For the ultimate, atmospheric Fallout 4 Survival mode experience, turn off the cross hair's and the waypoint markers, and turn off the music! Oh, and also, turn off any Cyberpunk mods. I love Cyberpunk, but not in a Fallout game lol.
Just assign a doctor in the settlements. Also build water fountains (sink) for faster bottle refills. For guns, get an explosive .38 rifle. Convert it to piercing auto. It will destroy everything, even without any buffs.
Water Fountains require you to keep pushing the button when you take a long drink. Water pump, you just start it then ignore it till it's done, then stop the pump.
I'm doing a survival permadeath run with an entirely diferent strategy/chalange I can't leave my settlements untill I'm lvl 200 and can just shred the whole game by being overleveled and overgeared I can't kill, loot or buy anything outside my settlements I can only leave my settlement to go to another settlement I own, and only walk on the road that leads me to that settlement I have to start on sanctuary and can only claim one settlement every 10 levels Pretty fun chalange so far
I can see a few problems with attempting this challenge. First, what is meant by "can just shred the whole game by being overleveled and overgeared"? Second, how can you start new settlements ? i.e. You reach level 10 and you are ready to go to your next Settlement but you can't go there until you own it and you don't own it until after it has been established. Even to start Sanctuary you have to rescue Preston and his charges, which involves killing outside your Settlements. Third, Settlements that do not have a road going to them at all, like Abernathy, Tenpines, and Murkwater are unavailable to you. Fourth, You better be fond of gourds and melons until you can find other produce on the bodies of Settlement attackers that you can plant and start growing new crops. Fifth, just establishing a Settlement outside Sanctuary, many times requires killing outside the Settlement, which would mean these settlement locations are off limits to you. Following the rules you stated you can't even get started or expand once you are started. You need a new rule number 1. You have to own all available Settlement locations in the Commonwealth and In the cases where a settlement location already has farmers on them you will have to kill those farmers and take over the Settlement, as the farmers have quests for you that are outside the Settlement. Or, those Settlements with farmers are also off limits to you. Question, Will the game even let you start a Settlement in a location where you killed the farmers without doing their quest, like The Slog and Greentop Nursery, etc ? Granted there are a few locations where the quest is to kill the local inhabitants. And then there is Jamaka Plain where the quest requires killing both inside and outside the Settlement boundary, making it also off limits to you. I think this challenge is flawed from the git go, my friend.
the 10 MM is my go to as well. for all the same reasons you listed. I've beaten the game in non survival mode with just the 10 mm in my underwear many times. Might not have even been wearing pants in rl too, come to think of it. lol
fun fact if ur overcumbered, go in third person and be unarmed and keep doing the walking atack, it will make you get to point B faster (doesnt work in power armor and need to be moving forward
the overseers guardian should probably be the first weapon you buy. on my no mod survival run on console I got a plasma infused ten mill under red rocket
10mm: If you can get lucky enough to get a Kneecapper 10mm, using your already listed tips for maximizing damage, just mod the 10mm to automatic and little can beat you. You can take out deathclaws or mirelurk kings, etc. without breaking a sweat.
Wait, gunslinger does work with the 10mm? I had thought that only applied to revolvers and bolt action, and commando was for the 10mm and other automatics.
It all depends on the receiver, if you put a full auto receiver on it it goes with commando but the best receiver isn't full auto so it goes with gunslinger.
@@Shuvvel depends how you play, armour piercing 10mm is a beast, it just chews through ammo. The best receiver could be a light one, with a luck build, some perception and agility you get 16 shots (the max) chance for vats to replenish, huge criticals , bonus criticals. Criticals every 6 shots, (I got a 38. Regular pipe pistol still carrying me. ) It’s practically Never ending vats criticals and shots. One round of that is slightly better than an advanced receiver. Just don’t nerf your potential with compensators, muzzle breaks or silencers. Use light barrels, small quick ammo clips, reflex sight. Saying that, I can’t find a good place or build for using criticals damage receivers. Light one surpass them over time by costing less vats, maybe a “lucky weapon” but you can’t plan for RNG. And 7 intelligence for righteous authority for a luck build is kinda dumb.
@@christinaedwards5084 light receiver lowered damage vs vats fire rate when weighed against advanced receiver vats fire rate the advanced absolutely blows it out of the water. I'd guess that your luck would have to be 15+ to have the faster crit charge from more shots to come close to the effect of the raw damage and fire rate combination from the advanced receiver. I'm sure that somebody out there has done the math. Light is for sure fun early game before you have gun nut 2 though. Either way, luck builds are kinda niche anyway as you'll be able to put out massive damage without vats with an advanced receiver and luck build perk investment is just crazy.
@@Shuvvel more shots = more criticals thanks to four leaf clover and the vats cost is less so you’re almost instantly back into another chain of vats if the perks didn’t proc, cause of the low low AP cost. High luck builds are awesome! You don’t need heavy armour (drifter coat is good enough for a while) you don’t need gun nut ( there’s plenty of guns lying around with upgrades you want) you’re not carrying the contents of the waste land around in your pockets so no inventory management, just lots of Chems you made to use and sell , and tons of food and water. Idiot savant levels you quick. Trash can Carla usually sells a silenced pipe gun if you want sneak attack damage. It’s almost as good as a combat knife, high agility, no armour, sneaky assassin
In real life there are some ill-informed people that call semiautomatic weapons just automatic weapons. Famous at this is the anti-gun crowd that knows shit about anything gun related.
All experienced player will know pistols are super good from the start, fast, deadly. BUT there will be situations where you are forced to ahve longer ranged shootouts. And pistol's max range sucks. Guns have no such problem, but also it takes time to have good ones and ammo. Scavenger perk yields .45 and .308 from level5. All in all personal preference, i like guns more since they are good at close range too, can be modded to be faster/less range, but the perk still the same as for the long range gun. Again the beauty of this game is you can play it in so many ways, combos. :D
Using Deliverer instead 10mm is a better option. You can use VATS and deal greater damage than default 10mm. Normally, my gameplay in survival is using 10mm all modified til I got Deliverer
I like Permadeath, for the adrenaline rush when facing tough odds, or close calls. I’m on Fo3 and FoNV playthroughs. So far always very hard difficulty, plus hardcore mode in FoNV. I haven’t figured out if Fo3 does hardcore, too. I was disappointed to learn Fo3 gives bonus XP in very hard difficulty. Fortunately, FoNV does not. Do you have content that might help with a Permadeath run through Fo3 or FoNV? I was hoping this video offered info I could generalize to use in them, but it was quite specific. Albeit perhaps the notion of using weapons whose ammo type is common is solid in any scenario.
First, thanks for watching the video! When it comes to both 3 and NV challenge runs, I don't have enough experience at the moment to give you a good answer. However, I would recommend checking out Bugsy308. I found him on Twitch, but he's also here under the same name. He does No-Hit runs for 3, NV, and 4. I know that 'No-Hit' and 'Permadeath' aren't the same thing, but I think the strategies could still be applied. Hopefully that helps. Cheers!
Protip: 11 Charisma wins any speech challenge. If you find a red dress (1.5 lbs.), Black rimmed glasses and a hat (Trilby, Formal, Militia, etc) you can swap to them before any convo to reduce prices and win speech checks. With Bobblehead, means you`d need 6 Chr at start to achieve 11. Also, Grape Mentats give a whopping +5 Chr & -10% pricing, should be used before any big purchase to save/make caps/profit.
Before visiting a trader, I change into my Charisma gear (glasses +1, hat +1, and clothing +2 or +3), drink a beer +1 and pop a Grape Mentats +5 for an added 10 or 11 Charisma. When I leave the trader, they have no caps left for a day or two.
Doesn't have to be a red dress....can be any charisma clothes which offer +2 charisma (Or if you get Rex's suit from where you get Strong, +3 Charisma)
Love the fo4 videos. Just curious, is it possible to do unarmed permadeath? Seems like it would be insanely difficult and frustrating and wonder if anyone tried it before.
To be honest I'm struggling through fallout 4 survival mode both because I mobbed the f*** out of it and made it into a zombie apocalypse kind of thing there's literally 140 zombies in Concord and all I have is nine rounds for my shotgun a multiple cocktail no armor and a 10 mm pistol
Build a drinking fountain or sink in every settlement. You can fill up every empty bottle with purified water without a water purifier. Burnt magazines, file folders and pre-war money are worth cops but have no weight. Don't pickup the 7 S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bobbleheads untill the related stat is 10. That way it will be 11.
working on hubologist charactor , and made charactors based on the bosses like tesla and even cito and his ape settlement this game is endless never seems to stop entertaining me i just try to get something hard to get low level on survival mode using careful planning .
I could imagine having a farm set up for enemies and trapping them in settlements, kill enough for a good enough adrenalin boost, and clear a hard quest with stealth and a maybe 200+ dmg sniper with the right perks
If the defenses powered you can turn them off, and when they come "suprise MFers" flip them back on. Cages can be used too. If they lead to water then they can't shoot only swim around...
Here is my tip: Never get a concussion, if you do, there is a small chance that you will get glitched with a permanent 1 per. Also, beware of using med-ex when poisoned, the poison wil not have its effects removed.
My tips for survival 1: get an overseers guardian 2: were power armor 3: lone wanderer with da dog 4: idiot savant and be dumb as f**k until later 5:make all settlments into battle arenas full of gunners. With these five you gonna be broken as f**k for the rest of the game
Maybe because I'm on Playstation and I have the unofficial patch because the glitches are terrible, but I haven't been able to sleep away infections. Os this just for the one called "infection" which gramts periodic damage?
It and Idiot Savant are the first 2 perks i always get in my Survival playthroughs. Hell im starting to go straight from the Vault down the South Eastern Island Settlement just to get the luck bobblehead immediately. Funny thing is, the water ways in F4 are LITTERED with red and green chests. There is 2 chests that I've found thus far in the ocean around that Island settlement.
For everyone who has asked, you can find a list of my mods at: christhekey.weebly.com/mods.html
The link is now also available in the 'About' section of the video. All public nexus mods are listed, and my unique mods are being updated here as well. Cheers!
My biggest tip would be ARTILLERY ARTILLERY ARTILLERY. I would always use artillery to soften up an enemy base/location then I would go in and clean up with my rifle.
But all the loot gets scattered to hell
There's no way I'm letting gravy boy and his crew outta the museum to get anything from the minutemen. A worthwhile sacrifice to not have a single interruption about another settlement that needs my help.
@@towlie710 yeah I do it just for the artillery than send a robot to man each settlement artillery.
If only artillery ever worked
i cannot do any big fight in survival without molotovs or frags (inb4 skill issue)
Here are some valuable tips that I've learned for survival mode/permadeath:
Caps:
- Prewar money; weightless, infinite supply at Lexington bank that respawns every 8 hours of game time if you DO NOT go into the Super Duper mart!
* Simply setup a bed and sink at the Drive-in just north of Lexington, sleep 8 hours, run down to bank, pick up PWM and return. Rinse and repeat as needed, about 150 PWM per run.
- Ammo: save all that you don't use for your preferred guns, low weight and can sell for 1 cap per, getting the Scrounger perk will boost this caps source
* Put into a storage container you make at your settlements, store until you are ready to buy stuff
- Drugs: I only ever use Berry and Grape Mentats, and sell the rest, they have a high cap/weight making them ideal for selling for caps
* Put into a storage container you make at your settlements, store until you are ready to buy stuff
- Purified water: heavy, but you can make a lot if you build water generators in Sanctuary (whenever you find Carla in Sanctuary, sell them to her for ammo or materials + all her caps)
* Remove every 24 hours game time or it won't accumulate anymore, remove all Aid items and bottles from settlement storage (put them into your own storage)
- Caltrop & Poisoned Caltrops: heavy, but you can make a lot of them and they have a high value and you get XP for making them
* Same as above, put into your own storage for when you want to use them to buy stuff
Food:
- Wild Mutfruit is plntiful around Red Rocket & Abernathy farm, as long as you DO NOT go into the Molerat Den, they will respawn every 24 hours of game time making them excellent food source early on
- Get the magazine at Sunshine Tidings before killing animals, it will double your meat extraction from killing animals
- Cooked Radstag increases carry weight by 25 lbs. for 1 hour real time
- Noodle Soup (Razorgrain + Dirty Water) both feeds and hydrates you
- At all settlements, grow; Mutfruit, Corn, Tatoes (for Vegetable Starch/adhevsive) and Razorgrain (for Noodle soup)
- Collect all empty bottles when going around, use these to produce Purified Water with Sink, Waterfountain or Pump
- Put as many water generators as you can at Sanctuary, Drive-in, etc. for free purified water supply
Surviving:
- Avoid; flying insects (always), feral ghouls (have a safe spot that they can't reach you so you can pot shot them), molerats (especially the unique at Olivia with a mine strapped to it) and mirelurks until you reach level 20+
- Avoid any unnecessary fights --> this is one of the hardest lessons to learn, but don't start anything unless you really know the extent of the fight you're getting into
- Learn where the frequent respawn areas are (e.g. the diner just west of Hangman's Alley) respawn enemies very quickly (8 hours of game time?), avoid if you're not ready for a fight
- Swim whenever possible, best way to travel with lowest risk --> get Aqua Boy/Girl perk early!
- Run/Sneak whenever you aren't swimming, but stay aware of your surroundings, you don't want to get into the middle of a bunch of feral ghouls or flying insects by mistake
Rads/HP:
- Decontaimination Arch at settlements removes all rads, as soon as you get enough Fibre Optic mats, make one, you'll never regret it
- Cooked Mutant Dog removes rads, carry 2-4 with you all the time
- Hazmat suit gives 1,000 resisitance to Radiation, you can always find one at Farron's in Diamond City and on the first mission with Deacon for the Railroad (in the room next to where you get Deliverer)
- Nuka-cola + Dirty water or Nuka-cola + Nuka Cherry = no rad, high hp recovery drinks --> build a Nuka Cola station in your main settlements and always carry 4-6 with you, hotkey them (they are better than Stimpacks), plus they give you caffeine to offset tiredness
- Wild Mutfruit (only 2 rads per), cooked animal meat & purified water for typical HP recovery, plus you make XP by cooking food
Sleeping:
- Raised beds are "clean" and can be slept in >5 hours, full rest
- Mattresses and sleeping bags on the ground are "dirty" and can only be slept in

🎉
If I may add a number 6 tip: Build 2 large water purifiers in Sanctuary immediately. Not only do you get spammable healing items that are actually OP in the early game but any remaining water can be sold for a relatively good amount of caps to vendors which will help you upkeep more expensive ammo types and buy chems or craftables for healing/curing with.
Melon is better i think. All Vendors have limited caps.
But dearest Lucy is a rich farmer girl with unlimited caps.
I have made so much money off the water, it lets me just get to adventure...with like a sponsorship lol
Melon is too heavy :/
You can still exchange items even without caps as long as your items' value are higher. I used water as currency aside from some crafting or speech that actually need caps.
Yeah I immediately gathered matrerials to craft 3
Nice, could you potentially have 12 int with the bobble head as well?
That is so smart
Good alternative for those with low Endurance (i usually start with END1...)
((to safely reach this on low level go NE from Sanctuary to the Robotics Disposal Grounds and activate the Sentry Bot, send it to South Boston Military Checkpoint.
And pencils? I'm assuming to kill a man?
@@CharlesVanexXLead used to make ammunition.
@@CharlesVanexX I mean, in a way.
Is the legendary 10mm with the increased limb damage any good?
@@seanrimada8571 it’s good, but not that much better than a normal 10mm. Dealing extra limb damage doesn’t equate to dealing more damage to an enemy’s HP. It just means you’ll cripple limbs faster. So if you use VATS, it can be good for things like stopping high level ghouls in their tracks by targeting their legs. But on a non-VATS build, you probably won’t see much of a difference from using a non-legendary 10mm.
@@seanrimada8571 Gorgeous (with VATS)!
@@seanrimada8571 and with auto receiver and everything else for recoil reduction you get a Kriss Vector SMG. 24 bullets from 20 meter distance, all into a targets chest and purrs like a kitten :)
Survival mode is the only fun way to play FO4 , honestly have a great time playing survival mode , really love the challenge and makes building settlements even more fun and important
Imo SV is the absolute best way to play the game
Easy to forget if you are closer to any of your settlements (3-4 square tiles, if near the limit shoot it towards the settlement) call Minuteman with flare. If they win yaay, if they fall more loot. The flares are super cheap.
I've heard the flares will also draw the attention of nearby BoS vertibirds but I've never tried it
Here's another tip I found, Fallout Wiki stated that with enough sleep (7 hours or more) you can stay awake for 12-14 hours.
Jesus christ I would legit go to sleep in real life if I crouch walked everywhere 😂
Also true for swimming, can go a very long time in game swimming without sleep, food, hydration...
Go to Bunker hill and by the legendary 10mm from the vendor. 50% limb damage on top of gunslinger is an almost instant kill.
You can send Dogmeat out to collect mines since he doesn't trigger them
Good idea. I like to send companions to radiated barrels to grab stuff, to mirelurk nests, and ghoul infected places. After you.... :D
Another Pro Tip is to finish the Show No Mercy Quest as soon as you can. From there you can atleast use some Vertibird Grenades to use the Vertibird to travel far ass distances
That early infection tip was the one I was looking for. Now if I can stockpile some food to last the sleep intervals to heal up.
"Talk to Mama Murphy". Ha, nice try but she's staying locked inside the museum along with the others because I never came back after the deathclaw fight.
No more bitching Marcy. No more downer Jun. And most importantly no settlements needing my help.
You can stay anywhere, and also send Marcy to be provisioner, etc. Also if you hate settlement attacks don't answer them.

Cambridge Police Station the metal guy will handle things, even at the next quest.
Almost died trying to get there

i have sum 50 charactors in survival mode i am playing only fallout 4 , best part of this mode i like planning out you game start to get something very high armor or weapon i start with the mini gun ammo from prestins roof then use it as money to fund my adventure , cash it in for caps then i head off to nuka world at level 5 with one jet i use it to get in the subway from the roof behind the park i jump on the roof .
I was like yeah yeah yeah whatever.. then he said berry mentats.. and I Was like.. shit I thought I was the only 1.
Great video! I’ve never utilized Berry Mentats in any of my runs but I like the idea! Especially with automatic weapons or sneak builds
It will destroy everything, even without any buffs.
kneecapping on my behalf ^^
He was talking about the start of the game and I think you need to be like level 15 or something to start building shops
Water Fountains require you to keep pushing the button when you take a long drink. Water pump, you just start it then ignore it till it's done, then stop the pump.
Surprisingly, I actually learned two things from (#1 & #3) this video!
Rushing the railroad to get the Deliverer early was the best idea I've had so far, the Vats build is top tier in survival.
Yeah, I like to get the Deliverer as soon as I can.
I'm doing a survival permadeath run with an entirely diferent strategy/chalange
I can't leave my settlements untill I'm lvl 200 and can just shred the whole game by being overleveled and overgeared
I can't kill, loot or buy anything outside my settlements
I can only leave my settlement to go to another settlement I own, and only walk on the road that leads me to that settlement
I have to start on sanctuary and can only claim one settlement every 10 levels
Pretty fun chalange so far
wtf is this
@@jackhalbert7893 masochist
@@edmartin875 You don't need Preston to build in sanctuary. Sturges simply offers a tutorial quest for it

I have played A LOT of survival, and I didn’t know about infection and recall code. Thanks.
the 10 MM is my go to as well. for all the same reasons you listed. I've beaten the game in non survival mode with just the 10 mm in my underwear many times. Might not have even been wearing pants in rl too, come to think of it. lol
Hope you aren't saying one should wear pants while playing.
fun fact if ur overcumbered, go in third person and be unarmed and keep doing the walking atack, it will make you get to point B faster (doesnt work in power armor and need to be moving forward
the overseers guardian should probably be the first weapon you buy. on my no mod survival run on console I got a plasma infused ten mill under red rocket
10mm: If you can get lucky enough to get a Kneecapper 10mm, using your already listed tips for maximizing damage, just mod the 10mm to automatic and little can beat you. You can take out deathclaws or mirelurk kings, etc. without breaking a sweat.
HOLY SHIT ITS CHRIS THE FUCKING KEY, *BEARDSLAP*
Thanx for this great video. Just got into fall out 4!

The Deliverer is your best friend in survival
when used In VATS.
The first time I encountered the courser, I accidentally selected the recall code and had no idea what I did and how I did it
Well done CTK!! and yea I didn't know about that adrenaline mechanic, thank you sir!
Regular pipe pistol still carrying me. )
It’s practically Never ending vats criticals and shots.
Normally, my gameplay in survival is using 10mm all modified til I got Deliverer
the infection one is one that i did not know
Doing survival without chemist already sounds like a death sentence
Wtf these are amazong tips

Cheers!
@@ChrisTheKey_ Thanks for the reply. I’m going to look up bugsy, as you recommend.
Note saving that actor from the Trinty Tower who calls for help by radio gives a +3 CHA dress. And an ugly Hulk.

Invest in intelligence and build the industrial water purifiers and get the chemist perk.

What’s the mod for the 10mm pistol?
I could imagine having a farm set up for enemies and trapping them in settlements, kill enough for a good enough adrenalin boost, and clear a hard quest with stealth and a maybe 200+ dmg sniper with the right perks
If the defenses powered you can turn them off, and when they come "suprise MFers" flip them back on.
Cages can be used too. If they lead to water then they can't shoot only swim around...
Here is my tip: Never get a concussion, if you do, there is a small chance that you will get glitched with a permanent 1 per.
