I have said before that I find solo harpsichord the most beautiful music! But what is even more beautiful than one harpsichord? TWO harpsichords, played by two great musicians! Thank you two so much !!!
The Old Expression is: "Music calms the savage beast" is true and it can also calm the Autonomic Nervous System!! It has been quite a time, but listening to the beautiful, joyous harpsicord music has indeed help to calm my Autonomic Nervous System and has healed me of a terrible disease: Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Quite Amazing!! I truly am grateful for your wonderful skill, talent and dedication to your art and music. This comment might seem odd to you and those who read this, but music can indeed help to heal all kinds of ailments...it truly has blessed me in a big, big way!! May God Bless the two of you fine performers and your families!! Miss Monique LeMaire🙂
Merveilleux!! It is truly a blessing to listen to these amazing musicians on original instruments playing what seems to be "secular music; " however, to me it is sublime, heavenly and transcends all emotion. Not one but two harpsichords!!! Something here in America is a very rare thing to see, yet alone be able to play. This has become part of my worship service to God, for He is the Creator of Heaven and Earth and everything in it. Thank you Chiara and Agnes for sharing your Gifts from God to the rest of the world. The two of you are amazing. Keep up the excellent work, for this is something that could possibly go out of existence, but as long as you persist in this Artwork we will be able to enjoy Bach's music for a long time. May God Bless you both!! Miss Monique🎹🎶🎚🌷😀
I build harpsichords, I love your playing, in my workshop I feel inspired by your music, you play like the angles , Bach is Bach like God is God. what a combination my heart ,my heart. Bravisima !! young beauty on my T.V.
Everything about this performance, and the performers and instruments, is lovely. A musical dialogue that invites listeners into the discourse. Thank you!
Many thanks for posting this treasure. I think it is beautifully played. The tempo in the allegros has been mentioned. It's true that some today play these allegros much faster. That can work, but it's tricky...the music can easily get lost. More important than tempo alone is whether there is real life in the playing, and here the allegros hop along very nicely, in a non-mechanical way, as they also do in some famous older recordings by Marlowe and Ruzickova. I think the music blooms when played this way. And the adagio here is quite felt, very moving. Yet another of your videos moved to my "favorites" list!
Glorious playing, and a lovely simple rendition of an old piece. Bach would be proud I'm sure of your work! It's REALLY hard to find a recording of this piece where the harpsichords are not drowned out by the strings, so it's really wonderful to have this solo harpsichord rendition. Thank you so much for making it.
Prof. Ratkó, then a few months later Prof. Gold-Szklarski, come by Chiara Massini's house to jam on Bach for our delight. What a rich life for them, and so edifying for us. I love how they don't rush the first movement.
This performance was wonderful, and the video was great to watch, not least because of the sheer delight that the performers were able to convey! A comment about the instrument that Ms. Massini was playing gave me a clue as to the dimension that I felt was missing: the contrasting weights of the (concertino and) ripieno. Maybe 20/21 - century audiences have been spoiled by our sound-world, but our ears crave contrast (but not necessarily a _lot_ of contrast). But the rhythmic power of a harpsichord duet performance carries it nicely, if not perfectly. Brava!
Beautifully recorded and interpreted! I love seeing how musicians mark their scores. I also use a highlighter pen to indicate fingering for the thumb, and if I'm playing Bach, to track the voices in a fugue when they become buried in the layering of the voices.
Another truly remarkable performance direct from Chiara's Concert Hall. Thank you Agnes and Chiara. Will this collaboration continue for Concertos 1061 & 1062?? Just curious. Nice to hear your 1 manual Cembalo crafted by William Horn.....beautiful tone.
BWV1060 (Allegro, Adagio, Allegro). C. Massini (Cembalo I) is playing on a Instrument made by William Horn. Á. Ratkó (Cembalo II) is playing on a Instrument made by J. Katzman.
Che bello ! And you have this harpsichord from Jan Vermeer's painting «Music is the companion of your joy and an anodyne for your pain» ... same as a faithful dog. :)
Special mention goes to these wonderful performers who DID NOT RUSH the concerto. I've performed this concerto too and it is exactly OUR choice of tempi that they used. Special thanks also go to the great artists who built these instruments which sound so wonderful. Notice the Bach "dance" that Bach players fall into. This because much, if not all of Bach's music is actually a dance. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
@Seth Killian Seth, while I don't disagree with you, a large number of sections of Bach's Cantata's were also dances. My guess is that Bach had a very pronounced sense of rhythm and liked to emphasize the beats. Plus, it was a bit easier to keep the different voices and lines running together if there was a strong beat. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
I love this piece and these players. Bach's transcriptions for 2, 3 and 4 harpsichords are perfectly marvellous. So much more depth and richness than just violins, for me. My only quibble is that at times the beat here is too metronomic, especailly the first movement.
Truly extraordinary. A fluid and enchanting performance. Beautifully compassionate reading of a piece so familiar - suddenly anew with vibrancy and passion. Can we hope for more from you? Thank you Chiara and Agnes.

Magnifique ! 🌷☘💐
After 250 years Thank You Bach 😌
Bach is a Mankind's genius!
300 now, he wrote most of his chamber pieces around 1720, when he lived in Köthen
🥲👍🙏
I like how playing together normalizes the eccentricities of personal interpretation or phrasing. This swings ladies.

what a combination my heart ,my heart.
Bravisima !! young beauty on my T.V.
Except that Bach is real.
So beautiful, I barely noticed the orchestra missing :D
I think the missing orchestra actually is a feature in this inperpretation...
The "Orchestra" was not written by Bach, but added later and evidently not necessary and in my arrogant opinion not even desirable.
This is sunshine in my day! ♡♡♡
One of my favorites since 1967! These two ladies do a fabulous job.

My favorite version of this piece. Thank you!
Two charming ladies playing one masterpiece, such a nice combination!
What a WONDERFUL REDEMPTION !!!! BRAVI !!! The instruments, the quality of the sound, the execution. Perfect, in a single word.
Finalmente un Concerto Brandemburghese al Clavicembalo. Oh mio Dio sto sognando 😊🌌🌃🙏❤ Dio vi Benedica giorno e notte.
Mon Dieu merci !
This piece makes me feel so incredibly alive. Thank you for this beautiful interpretation!
Everything about this performance, and the performers and instruments, is lovely. A musical dialogue that invites listeners into the discourse.
Thank you!
This adagio is so subtle dialgue not only two instruments or artists. Thanks...
Real beauty, this music! Mindblowing! Two ladies playing this wonderful melody. Delightful! Thank you both! Vielen Dank, Chiara und Àgnes!

Chapeau Mesdames !
Che gioia di sentirvi suonare insieme! Che Dio vi benedica!

You said it all!
Magnifique! Très bonne qualité d'enregistrement. Et bien sûr, très jolies filles.
Bravissima Chiara and so sorry for those guys that they posted the thumb down.......loosers....
Chiara sei veramente brava.
Splendid playing.
Brave, ottima esecuzione. Il clavicembalo è uno strumento unico, fantastico!
Bravo, bravissimo! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
This is completely superb :-) The very well known concert in absolutely and completely new dress .-) sounds great :-)
Magnificently played- such intimate and satisfying interpretations of these wonderful pieces!
Prof. Ratkó, then a few months later Prof. Gold-Szklarski, come by Chiara Massini's house to jam on Bach for our delight. What a rich life for them, and so edifying for us. I love how they don't rush the first movement.
Amazing
This piece only has sketchy orchestration, and it sounds better without the distraction of the orchestral parts. Bravo!
Per quanta possano valere i miei complimenti, brava!!
Starke Performance zwei Könnerinnen ihres Fachs par excellence 🍀👍🍀
Bach, il più Grande!
Dos Diosas!
Tears of joy.

Both are boss
Beautiful music! To the ears of a fencer, the interweaving and relationship of the musicians and instruments to each other is special. Thank you.
