Aside from what we perceive as pure musical genius, Bach truely embodies the notion of craftsmanship. The fact he was also an expert in the church organ construction and design completes this musical craftsmanship. With craftsmanship comes a certain humility in respect to his art - Bach famously said he was merely putting his fingers on the keyboard in the right place at the right time, and that he had had no choice but to be industrious - referring to his work ethics... One may argue that it is also part of the religious background of his times to be humble, especially since all his music was dedicated to the glory of God... Whatever the combination of motivations and traditions that brought us the miracle that is Bach, we have to be thankful to the musicians who dedicate their life to making this music heard through the ages. A real delight for the sense of sound, and for the intellectual pleasure the precise architecture of those timeless compositions gives us.
The difference between an average performer and a great musician, is that the latter conveys the emotion, the soul, of the music to the listeners. And that is exactly what you are able to do, Chiara! Thank you so much!
Dear Chiara,, thank you for this wonderful performance! I am moved and can hardly suppress my tears, so beautiful is this music... Listening and viewing your performance is so personal, so intimate!
Giorgio Frezet.
dear Chiara, wonderful ! I remember Philippe Herreweghe saying, in the nineties, "God owes a lot to Bach and Bach owes a lot to Gustav Leonhardt. So God owes a lot to Leonhardt". After this recording and your superb BWV 810, we now can safely say "God owes a lot to Chiara Massini". thank you immensely !
@@BachBottari At least Chiara plays it correctly if the tempo is debatable... Your organ version is pretty approximate I would say... Personally, I really appreciate Rosalyn Tureck version, but thats only my opinion.
Thank you very much Chiara Massini for that beautiful rendition of BWV 827. As I am not a harpsichord-player, but love the piece, I arranged it for various combinations of flutes (alto-, bass- and Contrabassflutes) this past week (I was sick in bed with a cold). But now I heard your version of the story and it's simply gorgeous - how I always wanted to hear it!! !!! !! !!! !! !!! !! !!! !! !!! !! !!! I'll try to get the group to be inspired by this recording. I'll look you up and I hope you get to Germany, soon.
Bravissima !
The Fantasia is a beautiful piece beautifully played here with panache and great clarity of line. This partita tends to get less coverage that the other five - perhaps because the opener looks and sounds like some of the Inventions and Sinfonias and is a more modest piece than the others- but personally I find the Fantasia very satisfying to play. The pace in the Courante is fast but seems to work and gives the piece great momentum, again beautifully played with a great narrative line.
What a masterful performance. I especially loved your interpretation of the sarabande. And your decision to end the piece by playing the gigue at a slower tempo elevated both the movement and the piece as a whole. Beautiful. richard -- Music is the companion of joy, the medicine of sorrow. - anonymous
I really really love the unassuming, sincere and profound way You play Bach´s music, at your home, surrounded by your beautiful plants that you seem to take care of with much love. This is for me the way Bach should be heard and lived through. I´m now a big fan of Yours!.
Your interpretation is so Beautifully precise,Like Bach's writing, The emotional expression is complete with all feeling. Bach is Bach like God is God. You reach high levels in to the heavens , Can you tell ? I enjoy what you do, Beautiful
Auguro davvero traguardi importanti perchè sarebbero meritatissimi.
Sad but not too many people listen to baroc music today. I am happy doing so and proud to say I do love it. Thank you for making it everlasting. It will last forever. Best wishes from me in Norway to you, Shiara :-)
She is just consistently one of the best players of Baroque klavier music. (At least, in performing this Partita,) she has left behind the irritating Notes Inegales infection and plays with wonderful toe-tapping drive and fervor. Belisima!
I thought Richter was the definitive reference for how this partita should be played, but your interpretation has changed that view. Less mechanical, more decorated in some places. Proof that to be an accomplished musician takes more than just technical ability, more than mimicry. You made this your own. Bravo, Maestra.
@@timhamilton6527 I didn't know about her either, but TH-cam knew that I like Bach and recommended her to me one fine day. This is one reason that when people say "It's scary how much Google knows about us!", I'm quick to point out that it's not always a bad thing.
There are so many subtleties in Bach that slow or relatively slow tempi are very enjoyable and allow to fully appreciate all the details of the harmony much more... I am referring specifically to the Gigue in this set which on average tends to be played faster that you play it here... However I really enjoyed that tempo. Beautiful piece.
Superb! Top notch playing, thank you very much for sharing! Very interesting tempo choice at the Gigue. Very suitable. It brings out the beautiful harmonies of this piece.
Brava Chiara!!!
Simply beautiful, though simple it is not. Your tempos are precise, as Bach himself would most likely have played. Perhaps, he's listening to you also and delighted.
