Considering how little simple living cooking we do, I think we had enough off the grid, and it's a fair exchange. He can still try to do simple living and the laundry by hand too even while on the grid.

I think it might be nice to put the horse medals under a nice portrait of the horses. Might make it easier to remember who won what. I know that people who do horse racing always get a nice photo of their horse. Maybe some if them jumping around the ranch might be nice. So that way if they die or we sell them we can look at their portrait on the wall.❤

I think the cat could not access the food- both of the pet feeders are very close, and I’ve had similar issues myself. Sometimes pets need a lot of space to eat. I’ve even had sim cats refuse to eat from a pet feeder that was too close to another pet feeder assigned to another pet!! Some pets are picker than others.

I think each episode of rags to ranches gets better each episode. This is the best expansion yet for sure, James is still in character each episode and these intros are fun loving and silly. In my game I focus on simple living and off the grid and eco life style. I got my fabrication up to level 5 I was making hecka ton of upgrade parts and suddenly Roberto Crinkletop showed upon my lot and we became good friends super quick. If you use small talk with Crinkletop you can enthuse about fabrication and he gives new recipes.
I like the idea that for the next generation Lady doesn’t get a partner but ends up raising one of her cousins children. Bringing in the child at an older age would be nice they could help with all the animals. I think I’d be a nice breather after the growing together series and a new element to the story.

Apparently the issues with the ranch hand are related to having the community board on your lot. I’ve seen people say once they removed it, the ranch hand functioned better.
With the farm growing in size, maybe Lady needs a more dependable ranch hand. One who maybe lives with her? And can develop into a romantic partner? Hmmmm?
I think one of Triton and Hazel's kids and Sandalwood, then the 3 of them get kids with 3 siblings, and that way bring the family back together without any yucky stuff.
Maybe you could move the 4th horse bed into the cow barn, so the cow has somewhere to rest and there is an open space in the barn since you only have 3 horses. Then you could use the extra barn space for a tack room (place to keep the saddles) and put things there for the cat like the wooden cat tree and hay bales he can lay on. He's supposed to be a barn cat so there should be items he can use in the barn to give him a reason to hang out there not in the house. The purpose of a barn cat is to keep the mouse population low, so that mice don't eat all the grain you have stored in the barn. Usually barn cats don't have much contact with humans, they're more wild animals than pets and they wouldn't spend time in the house, but it is nice in sims if they can be both a pet and a barn cat.

I'm pretty sure the cat is trying to get on top of the fridge and can't because the sink is next to it instead of the counter. Also, the horses are knocking over your trash cans 😂
Okay 1. The ranch hand does take care of livestock too, so they feed the chickens and also clean the cows and llamas which is nice! 2. Cat might need some toys to play with 3. Don’t forget you have to teach the foal to eat hay or from the prairie grass otherwise you’ll have to feed it manually. I think that’s all 😂😂
Perhaps the cat can't get to the feeder because they are too close together. Maybe get rid of the Eski and move them. You need to click on one and ask the cat to feed if you haven't already. Fairly sure your nectar isn't aging properly because it thinks it's outside. Deli had her nectar age faster. Maybe create a room at the bottom of the stairs? Really loving this series thanks James!❤
I think at this point you should try to change the excelent nectar rack with the normal nectar rack cuz the excelent one is technically outside so the 'basement faster aging' thing doesn't work on it. Cuz that vitality nectar is was aged fatser than the excelent grapes and it wasn't even in the rack.
I definitely agree with turning Off the Grid off. These days whenever I want to play with it, I just kind of play as though it's on by buying the right kind of appliances, no electronics, etc. It's really annoying to actually use.

The roof of the barn going under the roof of the shelter means that water will roll off underneath onto the bedding. Goats and sheep are susceptible to cold (this is IRL of course) and this would make the bedding mouldy (ask me how I know /sigh). Suggestion: reverse the roof edges so the shelter roof stats just under the edge of the barn roof. Since you're into realism. :)
A glitch I have with the ranch hands that you might want to keep an eye out for since you have chickens is if you ever get a rooster and have hatchable eggs is if you put them in the coop to hatch the ranch hand might toss them out . my ranch hand always saw them as "trash" and would throw them away . Super frustrating because I was never able to hatch any eggs . Just a heads up .
Hugo probably got scared of the stovetop because his last family died in a fire after trying to make a grilled cheese, that's why he was with the adoption agency 😂
Foals also need to be taught to eat hay. I can’t remember where at in the chaos of this episode lol but Bluey was in front of the hay feeder and got a pop up that he couldn’t eat it.

I looked it up online and it says this, “Players taking care of a foal in The Sims 4 will need a little more patience since they won't know how to eat by themselves right away. Sims should teach foals to eat Prairie Grass directly or show them how to get food from the animal feeder, but they must reach Temperament Skill Level 4 in order to learn how to eat for themselves. Players can also bottle feed them by selecting the Horse Care option in the social menu. They'll have to resort to this option when foals aren't in a good mood and refuse to learn how to eat from a grass patch or the feeder.” Idk if this is totally accurate bc I haven’t play tested it but it sounds like Bluey will be able to eat on his own only IF he reaches temperament skill level 4. Right now he has skill level 2 (45:05). Also, some players on Reddit are saying they are getting their foals taken by Veterinary Protective Services due to them not being able to eat. But Blueys’ needs this episode seemed fine so maybe the ranch hand is taking care of this!
The Foal keeps knocking over the trash can, because he is curious, they play in them. The horse beds are bugged and sometimes won't let you clean them, only thing you can do is replace them.
I don't know if anyone else has suggested it yet, but maybe the rat/mouse hole item from City Living (?) in the barn would be fun for the cat to play with
Fun fact: The gene for the orange coat and one of the others (piebald I think?) are both on X chromosomes, so for a male cat to be calico it has to be genetically intersex with at least xxy chromosomes. So Lady's barn kitty is a special case!

It’s a bug coming from CAS customization , there is a troubleshooting page on the sims 4 community and I did test it in my game , it’s messy

I actually did that in my game. My household was more urban, so I had one of the daughters as a kid move in with a distant relative.
I think that’s good! Lady grew up in a house of a lot of kids, I feel like she might not want to have any of her own.

Perhaps the cat can't get to the feeder because they are too close together. Maybe get rid of the Eski and move them. You need to click on one and ask the cat to feed if you haven't already. Fairly sure your nectar isn't aging properly because it thinks it's outside. Deli had her nectar age faster. Maybe create a room at the bottom of the stairs? Really loving this series thanks James!❤

Honestly I think this is my fave pack, just for how well its stacks with cottage living and eco lifestyle.
I think at this point you should try to change the excelent nectar rack with the normal nectar rack cuz the excelent one is technically outside so the 'basement faster aging' thing doesn't work on it. Cuz that vitality nectar is was aged fatser than the excelent grapes and it wasn't even in the rack.
If you get Bluey to lvl 6 Temperament before he ages up, he will get the Well Mannered Foal trait :)
I definitely agree with turning Off the Grid off. These days whenever I want to play with it, I just kind of play as though it's on by buying the right kind of appliances, no electronics, etc. It's really annoying to actually use.
The Cat needs a litter box. It probably needs to pee and has no where to go because you forgot to put one. At 36:56 you can see the little bubble over their head showing the litter box

The roof of the barn going under the roof of the shelter means that water will roll off underneath onto the bedding. Goats and sheep are susceptible to cold (this is IRL of course) and this would make the bedding mouldy (ask me how I know /sigh). Suggestion: reverse the roof edges so the shelter roof stats just under the edge of the barn roof. Since you're into realism. :)

A glitch I have with the ranch hands that you might want to keep an eye out for since you have chickens is if you ever get a rooster and have hatchable eggs is if you put them in the coop to hatch the ranch hand might toss them out . my ranch hand always saw them as "trash" and would throw them away . Super frustrating because I was never able to hatch any eggs . Just a heads up .
Hugo probably got scared of the stovetop because his last family died in a fire after trying to make a grilled cheese, that's why he was with the adoption agency 😂

Foals also need to be taught to eat hay. I can’t remember where at in the chaos of this episode lol but Bluey was in front of the hay feeder and got a pop up that he couldn’t eat it.
It's fine if the mother is with them. They nurse autonomously.

They automatically acquire the skill. The only reason to teach them is to raise temperament or if you don't have a mom.@@loraelstad8941

Hi friends! I just watched the episode again. The pop up happens at 45:05. I looked it up online and it says this, “Players taking care of a foal in The Sims 4 will need a little more patience since they won't know how to eat by themselves right away. Sims should teach foals to eat Prairie Grass directly or show them how to get food from the animal feeder, but they must reach Temperament Skill Level 4 in order to learn how to eat for themselves. Players can also bottle feed them by selecting the Horse Care option in the social menu. They'll have to resort to this option when foals aren't in a good mood and refuse to learn how to eat from a grass patch or the feeder.”
Idk if this is totally accurate bc I haven’t play tested it but it sounds like Bluey will be able to eat on his own only IF he reaches temperament skill level 4. Right now he has skill level 2 (45:05).
Also, some players on Reddit are saying they are getting their foals taken by Veterinary Protective Services due to them not being able to eat.
But Blueys’ needs this episode seemed fine so maybe the ranch hand is taking care of this!
The Foal keeps knocking over the trash can, because he is curious, they play in them. The horse beds are bugged and sometimes won't let you clean them, only thing you can do is replace them.
I don't know if anyone else has suggested it yet, but maybe the rat/mouse hole item from City Living (?) in the barn would be fun for the cat to play with

Fun fact: The gene for the orange coat and one of the others (piebald I think?) are both on X chromosomes, so for a male cat to be calico it has to be genetically intersex with at least xxy chromosomes. So Lady's barn kitty is a special case!

James I think I’ve solved the power consumption problem, the hanging wall lights that look like candles in a lantern in actually called “electric wall lantern”. Just noticed as I was building a stable.
