So having an abortion is emotionally exacting for people. I imagine being pregnant for nine months and then having to give birth is pretty stressful too, Christian, and certainly no less stressful for someone who didn't want to have a child to begin with. Ugh! I'd better leave it there. I genuinely despise pro-lifers and their make-believe excuse of a moral framework. If I get going on the subject it'd ironically be a miracle if that comment wasn't deleted five seconds after I posted it.

Well some of them genuinely believe what they say. They believe they’re protecting life. But a majority of them are fine with the child dying after it’s born. Especially if it’s from parents from an outside group. These are the same people who think it’s “objectively moral” to punish a child for the sins of the father “up to the tenth generation”.

I'm sure that can't be right nowadays. I'll bet in Texas that even if you are a rich woman, it's just as impossible to get an abortion as a poor woman working at McD.

Does he think married women never have abortions??? What does being married have to do with not wanting to be pregnant? Some married. men do not want any more kids after a point so sometimes it’s a decision that both partners make.

    • @TheistsTapOut
      @TheistsTapOut วันที่ผ่านมา +2

He probably did an extensive study with detailed statistical analysis to show that no married Christian woman ever got an abortion.
And since the huge majority of women who get abortion in the US identify as Christian, they are either not married or are not true Christians. Also, the unmarried Christian women would have had sex outside of marriage, so that makes them no true Christian.
And that's why, according to the caller, all women who get abortion are atheists. That's just logic. Christian logic, but "logic".

The idea that the NT means we should disregard the OT is often pulled out by someone trying to disregard all the horrid things therein. But nowhere does it say, oops, the OT should not be taken seriously. That, after all, is where the ten commandments and Genesis are ! There is a verse which summarises the authoritarian Jesus and his attitude to all, including children. Jesus has to be Number One in your life. Anyway, check out Luke 14:26 and Matthew 10:37 you will see how children are not so special after all.

As long as you are within the actually scientifically reasoned pregnancy term limits, abortion is justified for ANY REASON. End of story. Even if you keep getting pregnant and having abortions for fun, that's fine. That's a part of reality, fetuses don't feel pain anyway so it's not even harsh. Quality of life and autonomy are important. You can try and convince teens and sexually active people to use contraception or avoid intercourse if they don't want kids we can't force them and we have to give everyone access to healthcare and access to abortion and other parental care and family planning options.
Just like people who skateboard or do extreme sports and break blend all the time, they are a burden on the healthcare system and choose to get injured and use precious resources. Unfortunately we have to give people the freedom to do as they please and still offer them medical care when needed.
Freedom of speech is important even though it can cause lots of problems because of misinformation, racial scapegoating etc. We can fight those things but that's not an excuse to take away freedom of speech completely

Jesus made it clear that He did not come to get rid of what has been written but imstead to fulfil it. God has never changed and neither has the message of the bible. God is all good who punishes evil and the old testament showed the failures of humans and how the cycle of sin does not end and there is no amount of good that can make up for our wrongs. As stated in ezekial 33:11, God does not wish for anyone to perish but that they turn from our evil ways. But since we cannot do anything to save ourselves from hell, God chose to live as a human and die on the cross to take our punishment so we do not have to and ressurected on the third day. So if you repent and believe in who Jesus is and what He did without trusting in your own deeds or character, you will be saved.

In the case of a risk to the mother's life, it's clearly the moral choice to save the "definitely a person" woman, over the "possibly a person" fetus.

Marriage can prevent abortion, so far as married woman have the guarantee of support for her child from the husband and his family, what makes the pregnancy easier to accept in tougher situations, but also the husband can be the reasonable side in marriage, and prevent woman from aborting the child, especially in a healthy society, where the child belongs to both parents, and abortion requires approval from both the mother and the father, although a healthy society would protect the unborn, or treat abortion as dehumanization and premeditated murder in the first place, except in critical situations.

There's 2 ways you can define god depending on the context of the conversation
    1. if you're talking about the origins of the universe then you can call the universe and all things in it "god"
this is an autonomous system that creates consciousness and provides for purpose and meaning, as consciousness cannot endure in solitude and must find purpose to keep reproducing, that is why we find many consciousnesses not just 1 god, this is also proof that any personal god cannot exist and all religions are wrong
    2. if you're having a conversation about psychology then "god" can be used to refer to "all things good" and Satan is the personification of evil, as in, when you face your trauma, you face Satan, but you're really just facing the evil inside yourself
God doesn't make rules that you need to follow, the universe is setup in such a way that if you act logically then you will experience an easier happier life around your friends and family, these are the inherent rules of this universe, they are that way because if they weren't then the universe couldn't exist, and neither could the consciousness inside it
religion isnt meant to find the perfect after life, its psychology so you can find contentment with conscious now wile you're alive, that is the only heaven that can logically exist, the one you create yourself right now, and you do that by being a good person and limiting the abuse you receive and give out, you finally face your inherent narcissism and grow up, you become a considerate adult, and just by that you experience less abuse and your well-being and mental health greatly improves, you begin to understand why you're suffering
this also lowers your anxiety and makes you physically healthier, not just mentally healthier
