    Dear Ray, I am a newbie lamp worker (melting glass to make beads etc). Your video fixed my torch issue for me. The video was well done and although it took two attempts at disassembling and cleaning I am now back working the flame. Thanks so much for your video.

    I just cleaned mine as you've shown. The little valve seems to have been the problem - I sprayed some PB Blaster into it and with a small wire exercised the valve and spring. Cleaned and dried it out and it works like new.

    Building a petrol jewelers torch so I don't have to deal with this anymore not the $10 bucks for the tank. Didn't want to miss any filters, great job! At 50 buck for my torch, it's worth spending some time. I will follow your steps + I have a sonic cleaner for jewelry that I will soak in for a while. I would also blast the filters with that break cleaner several times. Thanks for the tips, Sir.

    As thanks, and for those who don't know, crocus cloth is an abrasive sheet similar to sand paper or emery cloth BUT covered with a layer of very fine loose iron oxide particles rather than with bound grains of abrasive. It is intended for final metal and gemstone finishing and is available in various grades (particle sizes) online or at hardware stores.

    Great video I don't think I've seen one even close to something like this. But it didn't answer the problem that I am wondering. So the little star thing that is at the tip of the nozzle that's in there a little bit that gives it the shape to the flame and whatnot without it it won't work. Because it just doesn't do it. But I'm wondering is it possible to say create one. I understand and nozzles are quite inexpensive I'm just curious if there's an easy way to quickly do something to it. I'm going to probably just going to get one tomorrow but still I'd like to know because this happens every now and again and it pisses me off

    • @staffordshires2

    • @daphneraven6745
      @daphneraven6745 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Your question is eight months old, but I don’t see the answer for work. I could be here, but I’m not seeing it yet.
      So it’s the type of valve. There is another type of valve that you can get that will even work upside down, but the reason for which it says not to turn your torch and fuel cylinder upside down, they said it is only designed to work right side up. When you turn it upside down or sideways too much, it goes out.
      It’s just the design, Not your skills.

    • @sebastiang7183
      @sebastiang7183 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@daphneraven6745 It was the bottle apparently. I ran out of gas in that bottle and bought another one and things work much better now with same valve/nozzle.

    • @staffordshires2
      @staffordshires2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the late reply, it is normal, because when you tip your bottle horizontal, you’re getting liquid propane to your torch and it will go out. I have found some bottles do this and some do not. Must be how they are designed internally.

    Hi everyone, does anyone knows what might be the cause of this? I got a propane torch and a 20 libs gas tank, I used for few times and it worked perfect, I tried again to use it and it has a very weak flame now. I tried with a 2 libs propane tank and it works perfect. The 20 libs propane tank worked in the beginning and it still nearly full tank, is not empty or anything like that.

    • @staffordshires2
      @staffordshires2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could be some impurity in the 20lb tank. I’d try turn the tank upside down, crack open the valve, and hopefully it will clear out the crap in the valve.

  • @im-that-guy-pal
    @im-that-guy-pal ปีที่แล้ว

    I took mine like that apart and I'm getting propane up to the turn valve but it's not going out any further. If I unscrew the torch from the bottle and then remove the turn valve gas escapes out. I'm at a loss whats wrong. I've boiled it and sanded the brass neck piece with what's supposed to have the microscopic office and still no flow.

  • @michaelhickey8868
    @michaelhickey8868 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well my torch does not have the problem of not getting flame or a very weak flame. When I try to increase the fuel flow to get a bigger flame, it always blows out. I will try the procedure that you show in this video but I wonder if its the same problem. Anyway, any reply would be helpful. Thank you!

    • @staffordshires2
      @staffordshires2  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I'm not sure what's going on with your torch, but I am thinking that the metering valve may be wore out or has been over tightened. Overtightening distorts the valve, or jet so it can't meter the fuel properly then let's too much fuel in. Take out the fuel adjustment assembly and inspect it to see if that is the problem.

    • @michaelhickey8868
      @michaelhickey8868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Will do but it sounds like if the valve is distorted, then the torch is toast (no pun intended). If that is so, then its off to buy a third. Sort of doubt that Benzomatic will sell just the valve. Thanks for the reply.@@staffordshires2

    • @mobmob5944
      @mobmob5944 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually when that happens is due to a problem in the torch chamber head . Some torches tips have a flame spreader inside and they tend to get bent or pushed down and will mess up the fuel:air ratio . The bernzomatic torches usually are not made to be repaired due to greedy companies and they will crimp the flame spreader inside or do other stuff to the torch to make it hard if not impossible to repair. But if you know what to look for and know what youre doing then its a problem to be solved . . Get torches that have a removable torch head like a ace basic torch or something thats not fixed together from the factory and you ill be able to modify it and get swirl flame tips and ect

    Youre giving misleading information. That brand of tank ....yellow is mapp gas not propane. using a propane nozzle on mapp gas you run the risk of melting the tip. Plus the air ratio to gas with that nozzle is incorrect for mapp gas. Mapp gas for those who dont know is propane and butane combined. It burns hotter than either gas alone. Each gas has to have a certain air to gas ratio to properly burn. There are universal nozzles that allow you to change to the right air to gas ratio and its made with a metal alloy that can withstand the heat from all 3 tanks without melting or warping. When making an instructional video make sure youre giving proper information.
