Several of these pieces tug at my heart so deeply, by playing the short excerpts you start to drag my heart down that path... then the song ends. You played these beautifully.
Thanks so much! They're all wonderful pieces! 😊 I have actually played a few of these in full on my channel ('Arabesque No. 1', 'Rêverie', and 'The Girl with the Flaxen Hair').
Debussy's Asian and Jazzy style are what I believe makes him special, bringing it into Europe, he basically travelled the world and brought it to Europe.
@@akirathedog777 Well ofcourse it is difficult for any Classical Composer to use any hint of Jazz composition, for example Ravel's Concerto for left hand, he got the idea from Gershwin, THE American Composer, but when you a Jazzist hears that Concerto, you miss the Jazz parts, but for a Classical musici or Composer it also does not sound like Classical, and I would say some passages are Jazz, but I think it is personal controlled Jazz by Ravel and Debussy because they did not grow to Jazz, they had some inspirations but raised a Classical one, no Classical musici can swap that easy, it is like learning a whole new language with the ability to learn the alphabet, that takes some while,, you know Oscar Peterson had a Collab with John Williams once, and he put an orchestra under the piece of Peterson's 'Body and Soul' now that orchestral play is also not Jazzy but also not Classical type, but it fits perfectly in Jazz, sometimes evolution goes slow, and you grow something beautifull between the actual result, Debussy and Ravel are great examples of that. 😃
Love these Nathan. ‘Arabesque’ my favourite!!! And know some of the others too. Thanks again. Sunday night wouldn’t be the same without experiencing a new video and music from you so good!!!! 👏👏Julie
Oh my gosh. I couldn’t remember the name of Golliwogg’s Cakewalk, but the fact that it’s by Debussy makes me love him even more!! By far my favorite composer!

@@NathanGlennComposer 3 years old 😲! Alright, I am only 22 years late 😂 I started learning as an adult...I can play a few pieces by Debussy by memory, but reading music is still a struggle. Sometimes I wonder if I missed the childhood wiring required to be a really good player 😔 I am resolute to become very good at it though, even if it takes me the rest of my life!
@@alfonsoacosta8595 While it's true that a lot of things are easier to learn when we're young children (including music), that doesn't mean it's impossible when we're adults. Good on you for pursuing it! You can still become a really good player if you work at it! All the very best! 😊

Nice, but sorry I think Debussy needs of a real pianoforte to appreciate the timbers of his pieces. Playing Debussy for a piano player means study how to create a very nice pianissimo, both legato and staccato. This subtle work on sound is completely inexistent in a digital piano.
Thanks! 😊 Of course you can't beat a real grand piano (most of the time anyway, depending on brand, age etc.). Hopefully one day I'll be able to get a grand piano!
🔥 Debussy's "Clair de lune" but in a MINOR key 👉 th-cam.com/video/Sh9BSb8Y9hU/w-d-xo.html
Again, love this short video of Debussy, Nathan. Clare De Lune would have to be my favourite, along with The Gollieog's cakewalk.
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! Those are both great pieces 😊
The rare case of a maestro who can play AND pick up and move the whole damn piano.
LOL! 😂
There are a few pieces of music in that short that I know and really like. Well played and superbly put together. 😁
Really glad you enjoyed it Heather, thank you! 😊
Arms looking big man
Thank you! 💪😁🎹

I remember my composition professor talking about debussy's "jazz style"
20 years in as a jazz player who loves debussy i fail to see the resemblance.

Amo a Claude Debbusy me encantan todas y cada una de sus grandes composiciones, gracias ❤❤❤❤❤❤
As a music student (decades ago) I have always been in awe of Debussy. Thank you for this presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊

I think La plus que lente and La cathedral engloute are equally beautiful too

Wonderful performance~! 😍
Thanks so much Grace! 😊
I’m currently learning the piano trio!
Awesome! That's a great piece! 😊
Golliwogg's cakewalk was actually influenced by Erik Satie's "Piccadilly"! They were very good friends.
Ooh, yes! They both have similarities! 😊
Wow! Fantastic!
Many thanks J Lyn!! 😊
I would have put Voilles in but I know nothing lol Great video!!

Why is your piano tuned so high? 😮 I almost couldn’t recognize the pieces I know for my whole life 😅
It's actually tuned to A440 Concert Pitch, so I'm not sure why it sounded high 😊
Hope you enjoyed the video even so 😉
I think you forgot Fireworks.
Had to narrow the list down to only 8 pieces 😉
Only his piano works… what about la mer, l’après-midi d’une faune??
Too many great works to choose from! 😊
❤Amo❤
¡Gracias! 😊
I know 4 of these
Fantastic! 😊
Thanks for watching!
What VST are you using?
I'm not actually using a VST for this. The audio is recorded directly from my Roland FP-80.
