  • Merz B. Schwanen produces some of the most luxurious and well made cotton loopwheel basics in the world. Still located in the original factory from 1911, Merz B. Schwanen focuses on authentic craftsmanship, honest manufacturing and sustainable production.
    In this video I take a closer look at their 3S48 Heavy Sweatshirt in Army and the 2S14 t-shirt in nature. Both the heaviest garments the company produces and boy are these garments great!
    Both sizes I wear are 6/L
    My height: 6ft
    My weight: 80kg

    Have never regretted buying anything from merz b schwanen. Their fabric just feels so good to wear. And as you said - construction is top notch which translates to great comfort when wearing.

    Months ago I got a black loopwheeled tshirt. Whenever I want to go out or just stay at home, this shirt is my first pick. I can wear it for any occasion, it fits with several jeans and jog pants, it doesn’t smell after wearing it 2-3 days because there is no plastics and it still looks clean after being washed (like when I bought it).
    Personally I am from Germany and I can’t stand the fact that most clothes are produced by fast fashion companies (yes even Nike and co) in Asia or poor countries. It is a fair amount of money I have to pay for a piece of cotton, but I am pretty sure this shirt will go it’s way with me until it gets so bad I can not fix it anymore. ❤️

    Merz B quality is second to none with most of their products, I own several of their Ts, Henleys and boxers. What I would say is that it's best to try on if you can before buying as there is some variation within any given size eg I have 4 x 206 henleys in large and they all fit slightly differently. Their lightweight 102 Henleys, cotton/viscose mix, lose their shape very quickly. Another great vid!

    Really great, detailed review of loopwheel options Cameron!
    I also have both loopwheel sweatshirts from Merz and Real McCoy’s, and while I do prefer the RMC in terms of fit and exterior feel, the quality and construction of the Merz is definitely on par and top-notch!

    Very nice Merz B tops are one of my favorite!! Agreed my favorite color is natural too it looks so nostalgic/vintage! Btw I think they're the only sweatshirts you can layer on top of a tee or wear without. The loopwheel makes it feel so soft. Also that T-shirt is amazingly slubby - I didn't know they had the 214 relaxed in heavyweight now I gotta get me one!

    All of the brands you feature could be said to rate highly on the sustainability scale simply by producing top quality garments that last for a long, long time but Merz B take it so much further and deserve all the credit going for doing so. I'd put Sunray Sportswear on the same level - recycled (re-purposed) cotton as opposed to organic, but similarly obsessed with ethical production and I think the quality definitely matches Merz B. They don't yet have the same range of products, though.

    I've really enjoyed several items from Merz (classic fit sweatshirt (346), short sleeve henley in nature (207), long sleeve henley (206), and underwear (254 and 255)). I've worn several of the garments over 100 times. The SPI count is high and uniform and the fabrics hold up very well.
    Compared side-by-side to a Joe McCoy short sleeve henley, the McCoy has slightly thicker fabric and a bit wider collar. The Merz is much nicer in hand and look - and despite being slightly less wide, the collar on the Merz is plenty beefy and has held up well to 100 wears.
    For those in the states, I've picked all of mine up at Withered Fig and they've been great to work with - they've special ordered items they didn't stock and they communicate well (I have no financial interest, just a satisfied customer).

    • @CameronO
      @CameronO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Roger, thanks for all that info. Much appreciated and invaluable to all the viewers. Thanks for watching and great to know these things are still awesome after 100+ wears.

    • @DrewDiddy7703

      I ordered a basic Schawnen Tee from Withered Fig along with 1 3sixteen pocket Tee. Both sale items, and were around 50usd each, Neither was worth the sale price imo. Especially the Schwanen. Very light, extremely small for what looked like a med. (#3?) The 3sixteen was better but the sleeves were much too short in proportion to the rest of it. Prefer McCoys brands, (med Or lg) or even Whitesville, Brave Star, RGT at a much better price, better fit & construction

  • @nasagasaan

    I’ve been putting off looking into getting merz since I’ve always felt that RMC had better loopwheel stuff. Though that might change soon since I’ve been looking into getting henleys.

    • @CameronO
      @CameronO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean now that I know their back story and the people behind the company its enticed me to get more. I am in the minority, then, in finding Merz tshirts and sweatshirts poorly fitting. Wide neck openings, too narrow in the body, too long, pointy shoulder seams, and scratchy fabric compared with other similar options. Yet, the sweatshirt did look very good on you in the video. Body type perhaps. After having tried many of brands at this tier, I like Rickson sweatshirts best. McCoys loopwheeled after that.
