Commentary! The Musical

The cast and crew of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008) perform a "most uncommon" musical commentary track for the show, acting as exaggerated versions of themselves. After reviewing the circumstances that led to the creation of Doctor Horrible, the characters sing of the contrary and cheap Joss Whedon, the aspirations of the minor actors, the egos of Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris, and everyone's favorite iPhone game.

I love this, they were so creative with this whole musical, even the freaking commentary... the *first* musical commentary of all things! This movie/series/musical was way ahead of its time. :)

The “not sarcastic” HA is very funny but hearing Neil laugh at his own jokes at the Tonys and stuff is really cute. I like his laugh

That's actually what I'm here for. I was looking to quote it last night and couldn't remember if it was from Doctor Horrible or The Guild, and nothing I found explained, and then it hit me a moment ago that it was from one of her remarks during Commentary! The Musical.

Yes, the normal commentary track is where many of these references and song ideas come from, such as Neil's ridiculous laugh and Felicia only talking about how her hair looks, her outfits and shoes.

They actually did have a regular commentary on the disc as well. Obviously not as memorable though.

The year is 2023, nu Star Trek does a musical episode and it can't even hold a candle to the commentary track of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. I feel very lucky to have been around for both this and Buffy's 'Once More With Feeling' when they were originally released, no "musical episodes" since have reached their level.
