Step 3: place food in tank and watch the banquet begin.

They provide them with as good a home as they can and feed and take care of them very well and most importantly offer protection from poachers you want these whale sharks to be released? All of these large fish are greatly treated, and they were rescued, not captured. There are many reasons why they also can’t go back into the wild. All these people working here are helping not hurting. So all of you saying that it’s not fair for these lovely creatures to be treated like this, they’re totally fine. Thanks for reading.

Hm I see your point, but don't you think this is way to small for all these animals? I'm sure it's possible to create an enclosure in the ocean (a really big one) and that way marine biologists can still monitor them and make sure they're healthy. Aquariums at the end of the day are for profit, I hate to see any animal in captivity, even if it's for their own "good", I think they could do much better than this

@@danavazquez5176 well is they have an inclosure in the water, may people see them and when people see them people can be educated about them and protect them better. If you watched the entire video, you would know that they are endangered and in this indoor aquarium they can get the medical help they need and people can be familiarised about them in a safe way. I can't say I support all the aquariums on earth ( like the ones that train their creatures to do tricks and perform shows ) but this aquarium is doing a great job.

I sure hope you’ll visit some day! There are many great official wildlife conservatories and zoos in the US that work to provide education about the animals they take care of

If the people in the comments don't understand that most animals were saved from people who bought them illegally and also animals that was rescued after being hurt in the wild most of them aren't releaseable they wouldn't survive

I think a lot of those comments are from the self righteous who have probably never even been to the there. They're conservation program for endangered species is pretty awesome and all the workers are passionate and love what they do.

Whale sharks are filter feeders so they eat plankton. They can also eat super tiny fishes or squids but they really hunt them.

I worked as a volunteer at the Tennessee Aquarium for a few years. I’m not sure about the Georgia Aquarium, but we feed all our animals enough to where they don’t feel a need to hunt. Though it does rarely happen, it is usually because they notice a fish is sick or injured before the aquarium staff do. Most animals don’t hunt for fun.

No. They’re filter feeders. They don’t eat anything bigger than your pinky-nail.

That’s so sad that Trixie the whale shark died :( Does anyone know how the aquarists remove/relocate/dispose of such a large animal? I wonder if the visitors saw

No expert here but I’m guessing the body is probably fished out using a giant tarp or the like, and it most likely goes to marine biologists or something.

Now THIS is how you care for fish in captivity....wish they could be in the ocean but it’s awesome seeing people try their hardest to emulate that for them and also give them so much TLC.
