During the first replacement of my trucks spark plugs I find out
what I need as well as all the issues that will occur. When researching before performing the spark plug replacement I found differences of opinions about the gap, if you gap and if you can actually do the number 8 cylinder plug without ultra special tool. Next time you change the plugs,firstly, remove the inner fender well covers with a t15 torx bit. This will give you a direct line of sight to all 4 plugs on each side. No more leaning over fenders and stretching to reach plugs. Your welcome. Yes, I also had to learn the hard way the 1st time.
You are so correct.After trying over the engine on the passenger side you figure out that wheel and splash guard removal is the easy way to do the job.

I did this and it made everything so easy. I got the whole job done in 30 minutes. Didn’t have to remove the wheel bc I have a 6 inch lift so there was plenty of room. #8 took 2 minutes. Thanks for the tip!

Damn I feel your pain! I just turned 115k on my 2015 Silverado and I'm dreading to do it, but it has to be done. I will do plugs and wires. Your sense of humor makes it fun to watch Lol.

Replaced mine today. Worked with a partner who had already changed his, so had some insight as to what was going to happen. We started by removing the Air Filter Cleaner Box to give us more room to move around plus we removed the bracket the heater hoses mounted to so we could move those around some to get my arm down in there. I went ahead and replaced the wires also as my truck has 180,000 plus miles. It was not easy to remove the wires from each plug but since we weren't reusing them, we just gripped really hard and pulled, some thou, I used a pry bar to get a little extra force as not having much room to get both hands down inside on the passenger side and that helped some. Can't even see the number 8 plug on the passenger side once you remove the wire, so I did craw under the truck and was able to get on it, loosened it enough and turned it out enough that my extension started hitting the firewall, so removed the extension but no room to maneuver my hands around and grab just the spark plug socket and turn it, luckily my friend was able from the top side to get two fingers and turn it to finish removing it. I got the new plug started and tightened as much as I could but was just no room to maneuver the rachet enough to tighten. We replaced the 3/8 rachet with a longer 1/2 rachet and a regular 5/8 socket which was about a 1/2" longer. I guided the socket onto the plug, held it the best I could while he tightened it from topside. In all, took us about 3 hours to complete the job. A cheater pipe also came in handy to help with breaking loose and tightening the plugs.
I loved your commentary, video was straight to the point, may have been easier ways of doing it but you made it enjoyable to watch.

Remove the passenger side inner fender since the passenger side plugs are harder to reach; the driver side plugs could just be easily accessed from the top. Glad to see you didn't remove your tires.
I take both front wheels off and lower the truck down on jack stands as low as I can without touching the floor. I have did this for the 30 years working on trucks. When I was young saw a mechanic in a shop do it. If you have a impact, heavy floor jack and heavy duty jack stands working on a truck will never be the same.

I got 130,000 on my silverado, i figured as much as access problems. Ive changed plugs on my ford 5.4, the fuel rails were more in the way than the holes in the heads. Great video though by the way

Thanks. I will soon be tackling this job on my 2015 Silverado. I was wondering if I was gonna attempt it myself looking at #8 way back there. I hope I don't regret doing it myself. I'm considering starting with #8 first since it's the hardest.
I just changed plugs wires and the coils 2015 5.3 and i did it from the top and it went real well ,, no problem guys...
Did you get any active service codes for any coils or did you just change them just to change them

Instead of an extension on the plug closest to the firewall passenger side I used a three-quarter socket on the back of the spark plug socket. Worked well and still had lots of room.

Just did this on my 14 Sierra. Started with the the passenger side bc get the hardest side done first. I have one spark plug left on the driver side right at the fire wall.

Thanks for the video! Very well done. Simple and accurate and to the point. My 2015 Silverado 5.7L only has 48K but getting slight miss at idle sometimes, and fuel mileage has dropped about 2 mpg - I track every tank. I am going to change my plugs soon and see if that fixes the slight miss and improves fuel mileage. I have been running injector cleaner in the gas last couple of tanks to see if that also helps. My 2016 5.3 has felt like it has a miss at idle since I bought it
My 2016 has felt like it's missing since it was new but my mpg dropped at about 30 or so but it was when the dealer changed the oil and the tard muffins put synthetic blend instead of synthetic and they did it again the next time when I told them dont fuckin do it again. Needless to say I will never step foot in that service department again unless I have a can full a gas and matches
I got a quote from a Chevy dealer to replace the plugs in my 2015 Silverado. $235.00. I'll do it myself, thank you.

That #8 plug is a pain regardless if you go from the top or remove the wheel. They are really trying to discourage the average DIY mechanic. Could be worse, there could be 2 plugs per cylinder like the Ram. Lol

That shaft your calling a pitman arm is the steering shaft. Just saying. The pitman arm is the arm that comes off your steering gear box

I took the wheel liners out and wheels made the job alot easier saves on the guts

JACK UP ONE WHEEL AT A TIME, REMOVE THE WHEEL AND WHEEL LINER YOU WILL FIND ALL THE PLUGS READY FOR REPLACEMENT WHILE YOU SIT ON YOUR COOLER FULL OF BEER! GETTING WHEEL LINERS BACK IN PLACE IS A BIT MESSY BUT NOT AS BAD AS CHANGING 7 & 8.

Awesome tutorial video on how to change out the spark plugs in the Silverado 1500's, I have a 2015 LT, 5.3 V8 with 25, 560 miles on it, and I got a SE code, (Service engine code--P0304, misfire on cylinder 4), took it to the dealer and they told me it was just a loose spark plug wire, I have two questions for you, how many miles are on your engine to prompt you to change out your spark plugs, 2) was your engine running sluggish, poor performance when you hit the accelerator? I'd really appreciate your response, as I can't rely on the dealer to be totally honest with me, lets face it, the dealer only wants to drain as much money from us as possible! Thanks in advance!!!

Mine had 30k when I noticed a drop in mpg, plus these are gdi so you need to clean the valves a few times a year. The seafoam spray works well just make sure u stay up with it to keep it running good.
My 2015 Sierra has 31k and had a sluggish response when I gassed it. $172 later at the stealership I was told I had a bad spark plug wire, on cylinder #5 . So I will be replacing wires.
