Ah that is true, great pickup. I didnt show in the video but I covered the ground wire with electrical tape but failed to mention. You can see this at 12:05
Another great and very thorough video ANG. Roughly how long did the install take? I saw at least 3 hours go by on your watch. I know you did some extra stuff like clean the dirt coming from the wheel well. Really Tesla!!?
Thanks @Ausy8 😊 If we are just talking about the removal, install and assembly, 1 hour should be plenty of time. It took me a lot longer because as you mentioned, I cleaned the dirt and of course did the filming. Much easier than I thought. With regards to the dirt, I was going to have Tesla service check my car but after chatting with the service rep, I was told those gills are there to allow for the sound from the horn to come out, probably BS, idk. But they were going to charge me $181 just to inspect it without a clear action how to stop from entering, I said no thank you and cancelled the service appointment. Since you have been clocking a lot of kms in all sorts of different weather conditions, I would highly recommend that you at least remove the frunk tub and clean the area.
@@AutosNGizmos Thanks for the install time. Re the dirt, I dare not look. We probably have half of the outback in there. Maybe those grills are also for the pedestrian warning system that they install on more recent models? Anyway it's a bad design and they should shift them somewhere else.
Lol, fair. When you come back around to pick up Frankenstsrlink, I can do the service for you free of charge 😊 I can use my water-based vacuum… Yes bad design but hopefully those connectors are dust/dirt proof
Update with regards to the gill on the wheel well. According to Tesla service, those gills are there to allow for the sound from the car horn to escape out 🤷♂️
Very nice. My only recommendation is to connect the ground wire first before connecting any power cabling to a power source.
