    Love my 06 rm250. Have had 6 other 2 strokes and I have never rode a smoother 2 stroke. It feels like a 4 stroke almost and can ride it on trails and climb rooty and rocky hills and go right to the track no problem. It's a beast I love it

    i have to decide between 2002 honda Cr125 and Suzuki RM 125 2008

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would steer you toward the honda, mainly because parts for the Suzuki are insanely expensive. If money isn't an issue the RM will definitely be the faster bike, but if you're on a budget the Honda is the way to go. I have an 04 cr125 as well and I think it handles better than the Suzuki, but that's a bit of a personal preference thing.

    I swear…I know it’s probably just me…but the new(er) MX bikes don’t look that bad…EXCEPT for these hideous front and rear fenders shapes! What in the heck kind of designer thinks these fenders look anything like “good” other than complete shit😂I know I know…it’s just me.

      Other than that…great riding, and very good reviews of both bikes. I’d ride either, as anything can be tweaked to someone’s liking with aftermarket stuff and machining. 👌

    Definitely agree with you on the yz preferring the outside lines, when I go inside lines on mine it's a struggle to keep the front wheel planted!

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly, I think it has to do with the more relaxed head angle on the YZ vs the steeper one on the RM. There just isn't enough weight on the front wheel to keep it tracking in ruts without wanting to climb out. My fix is to run the forks higher in the clamps, and run less sag. This puts more weight over the front and helps out pretty significantly.

    • @grimsypro1872
      @grimsypro1872 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair play will try and give that a go. Don't notice any downsides to running less sag?

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're going to get more kick out of the rear end and some more headshake, but that's it. It just a trade off, but something to be aware of.

    • @delzotto777
      @delzotto777 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think that it's due to the yz having an aluminum light weight frame which does not track as true and heavy while cornering ruts where the weight of the rm carries forward throughout..

  • @GoatRoper911
    @GoatRoper911 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That was a really good test and commentary and you are fast AF. I like yellow, I have a RM125, RM250 and RMZ450 all 2005 models. I have ridden many YZ125s and YZ250s and you are right, they don't turn.

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have a pretty impressive lineup, nice choices. I wouldn't go so far as to say they don't turn, but they don't turn in the same way. You really need to use the back end of the yz to make it turn effectively, and that means more outside lines that don't make you stop and go in deep ruts. I ended up putting the four stroke swingarm on my yz and it made a world of difference, much more weight over the front end and a lot more predictable turning. Why they don't do this from the factory is beyond me, it changes the bike into and much better handling machine and has absolutely not negative side effects as far as I'm concerned. I still haven't found a bike that turns better than my cr125 though, much more of a front end steering bike than either the Suzuki or Yamaha and will do whatever you want it to.

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're going to build a bike I'd highly recommend going with the YZ instead. Parts are WAY cheaper and there's a lot better aftermarket presence for these bikes. If you really want to build a RM then by all means go for it, but the YZ is going to be a lot cheaper and less of a headache.

    Very nice video. Would you ever consider doing an in depth segment on your RM250 RC edition?

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by in depth, or more importantly I guess would be what would you like to know about it? Are you thinking along the lines of reliability, overall discussion or how it rides, differences from the standard RM, or something else entirely?

    • @J_Business
      @J_Business 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@485Josh yes that's what I was thinking about. Reliability, differences, your experience with the bike and other general discussion. On top of that it looks to be in great shape so some close up shots would be nice

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I might be able to do that at some point, but to be honest with you I haven't been riding the bike all that much. Parts are getting insanely expensive and I recently did a full rebuild on it, so I'm kind of just riding it on occasion and trying to preserve it (since I seem to be an expert at breaking bikes haha). They're awesome bikes, but compared to yamahas the quality on some parts just isn't quite there, most notably on fasteners which is a pretty good indicator of overall quality for any device. Not to say it isn't a reliable or quality bike, but between the cost of parts and the fact that there are so many more aftermarket upgrades available for the YZs it just makes more sense to ride the Yamaha a lot more often than the RM. With the four stroke swingarm the handling of the YZ will rival that of the RM, and it's not a hard upgrade to do if you get the right year of swingarm.

    Which for trails though?

    • @485Josh
      @485Josh  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question, but to be honest I wouldn't be able to give a good comparison now. After I made this video I had a pretty bad endurocross race that destroyed my rear wheel. I ended up putting the four stroke style swingarm on my YZ (highly recommended mod by the way), as well as an 18 inch rear wheel. Because of that I really wouldn't be able to give a fair comparison since the YZ is far from stock at this point and the 18 inch rear would really favor it offroad over the stock 19 on the RM.
