That is great but in the USA nationals / sx, you can only race a 125 2-stroke against the 250 4-strokes which is a huge difference. If ol Stank Dog could ride his 250 2-stroke with the 250 4-strokes, I think he would freaking rip! I think we'd also see a lot more 2-strokes.
Use to be able to do the 2stroke 250 in the 250 class at Loretta’s and such, Malcom Stewart did it when he started really gettin into racing again on one of James’s old bikes (or maybe just the motor) and they allowed it, like in Canada. But don’t think it’s allowed anymore unfortunately, but not too sure.
I’m am from the USA and I’m am a big fan of Suzuki motorcycle because I rode 2 strokes bikes when I was grown up back in the states, before they were RM.
If you don't have much name recognition, racing an old two-stroke would be a great way to get attention. There are shops that can make these things very fast.

Years ago I had a KX500 mxer. Most fun dirt bike I ever had. Amazing. The scary thing was when you got in trouble the best way to straighten it up was to hit the gas then grab another gear. Pretty soon you were in 5th gear going wide open 70 mph with no more gears to go. That's when it got squirrely.

I love two strokes... and sad they went away. I still ride a CR5 and just love it... it is a very solid machine and always works perfectly with plenty of power.

I have an 89 250 I just restored,for sale,rebuilt 91 inverted forks,rebuilt ,terracoated shock,engine new mains,seals,gaskets,top end has maybe an hour on it.
I remember Neville Bradshaw even he was racing the 250cc Grands Prix. He was always fast. And he traded it even the 250cc class has become the dominant class when meant of the 500cc to guys raced the 250 instead. That RM was a super model is love to spend a day with. Everyone loves the 2 Strokes.

@@eric6rock Once he saw that they were selling like hotcakes, be very begrudgingly okayed the project. He even once famously said that they would never build a 2-stroke. He eventually changed his tune.
Considering suzuki hasn’t even updated the rmz engine in a long time I doubt we will see another 2 smoker from them ever again. I think most brands are looking towards the electric bikes I hope yamaha and ktm still continue to make 2 strokes for a long time
It's funny, I don't think the new bikes are that much better. Back in the day, I had a 10 year old 2001 RM 250 two-stroke. My buddy had a brand new 2011 RM 450. I rode it and was thinking, it's not much better.

Oh what? your front forks are looking saggy? lets open up and redo the gromets; lets redo the rise and check the front fork fluid level; Lets do all that then Forward up. Both eyeballs focused. Lean keen forward on throttle then pretend what happens behind you propels you toward your lovely goals.

He should come to the USA and race that bike at Loretta Lynn nationals in the +40, +50 class. Last year Jeff Emig raced a Husky 150 2stroke finished 2nd overall behind Mike Brown on a 450 Husky 4stroke, and Ryan Hughes raced a 1986 Honda CR 250.

I restored it completely with new black powder coated frame, the full yellow restyle kit and a plain blue seat. Wanted gold wheels and fork tubes, but was a bit expensive. :) So pretty!
Right on dude ! ! ! That was one tough track, 2 stroke can still beat 4 stroke given a smoother track, no disrespect to 4 strokes but given the rain and the ruts, 4 strokes had the advantage, I raced 2 strokes in the mid 80s to 90s, but no way I can keep that pace anymore, my hat is off to you and taking a bow, there is nothing like bringing a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke party, lol
Love this. But, having raced a KX250 2- stroke in the Southern California desert, I can say there were no 250 4-strokes that were faster than a 250 2-stroke. And, the 2- stroke had a distinct advantage with the dead engine start. Did 250 4- strokes beat me? Yes, but that was because the riders were faster than me, not the bike. A 250 2- stroke with an equivalent youthful rider should smoke any and all of the 250 4- strokes.

The only reason 2strokes "left" was because Honda didn't want to make them. They added enough smoke to get capacity advantages that meant people racing had to go 4stroke. The buying public have have dealt with the cost of all the hype around 4strokes and are making the choice to go to the more cost effective 2 stroke for their play bike ( the biggest buying market).

At 50 years old i just can't get used to the sound of 4 stroke race bikes.
For some reason I get the filling that riding a 4 stroke motocross bike is simular to riding on my riding lawnmower !

We need a 2 stroke classes 4 strokes are way too expensive to keep running for racing on a budget .
Not to mention you can rebuild a top end on a 2 stroke in 45 mins and significantly cheaper than a 4 stroke.
Yeah 2 stroke guy as well but that’s not happening
