The narrator said "through a series of strange circumstances, [Belle] found herself held captive inside a dark and forboding castle". That's good enough for me. The movie was only released a few months eariler. This is a good time to be keeping people's interest in the movie and hyping up an eventual VHS video release. The show was changed slightly for the time allowed for a theme park stage show...
Steph has amazing control over her voice; I heard her sing "I Dreamed a Dream" live, and she just blew me away with the restraint and then the power of her voice, all within one song. Great timing, seeing this, since her new show, THE PIRATE QUEEN, opens in two days!
@bingbrian2, @disneyismylife1, and @yesiampsycho Disneyland is in both places. There is the original park in Anaheim, California AND Hong Kong Disneyland, which opened up in 2005 (just in time to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Disneyland (1955)).
okay to answer most of your questions, yes they used the voice overs from the film in these shows, the costumes for the beast and the other objects are just not made for people to talk through. It's just like watching fantasmic or a show with mickey and the gang, you hear em talk, but their mouths dont move.
I aodre this show so much! everytime we get to go to Florida, my family and I see this. It's so charming, and the costumes+coreographies are so fun to watch! =D (too bad it was raining and storming last time... The actrees doing Belle actually kind of yelped in a scene due a thunder.
Thanks for the comment. "Mob Song" and "Beauty and the Best" are in this video clip. Maybe your computer didn't download the whole clip for streaming?? That's just my guess. Try watching this again.
No worries. Like I mentioned before, it was only after posting this video people started leaving comments Belle was probably played by Stephanie. And I didn't know who she was before. So I'm excited to hear what answer you get!!
Everyone kept saying it's Stephanie J. Block. Honestly, I wasn't really sure. But there's a lot of fans out there that seem to think it's her. I didn't even know who SJB was until I posted the show on youtube. So how is Michelle Revesz? :D
I think this was done way before "A Change in Me" was added to the Broadway show. That song was written for Vanessa Williams when she played Belle. But that song would be a great song for SJB and so would "Home"
Someone who is more "in the know" than I said that the "felts" (HAHAHA) are recorded, but the live actors are all live. And, yes, Steph is amazing. She's my favorite singer, too! (If you're interested in what she's doing now, do a search for "castcom" or "pirate queen"--her name is in the tags, as well, of course!)
@jahdancer93 thats true at Hollywood Studios but in THIS show everyone not in a masked costume sings. you can tell its not the synthetic-y sound as normal shows are now. or at least in "Belle"
I find the issue is that the Fantasyland Theater is open-air. People assume they can leave whenever they want. They have more vision of where they're going. Whereas the Hyperion Theater in California Adventure is enclosed and dark, people can't see and wait for the house lights.
This is really great! I've never seen this show and it's awsome! Thanks for posting it! I really enjoyed it! ^_^ Belle has a beautiful voice! but how come it just stops? no mob song or beauty and the beast?
From Stephanie's website: he has appeared as the Lead Vocalist with Les Brown & His Band of Renown and the Billy Vaughn Orchestra, and was the original Belle in the Disneyland production of "Beauty and the Beast." You can take down the disclaimer on all your videos now--we don't want people confused!
I assume this was a question. Yes, Walt Disney World has a stage version of Beauty & the Beast in the Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park. But the video shown here is from California, YEARS ago.
i went to a couple of these shows when I was in Florida, and it's amazing how many rude people just get up and walk away without some sort of gesture or acknowledgement to the performers on stage... it is customary to clap, unless the production was completely bad.
I'm constantly surprised at how they're able to scale down an entire movie into 30 minutes. Granted, "Beauty and the Beast" didn't include all the songs, but "Aladdin" did and the "Pocahontas" one and "Snow White" fit most of them in too. And I'm also amazed by the quality of the performers. All the leading ladies are great. Are Lumier and Mrs. Potts' voices recorded from the movie? They sound too much like the ones from the actual film.
This is very good. I love Beauty & the Beast Live. But I don't like when you miss the bell chime, skip a little on the begining of the Mob Song, and skip to the curtain cal and ending it before the curtain falls. Sorry, I just like it perfect and it's not your fault. I also kind of like the evening version better. So for those of you out there has the whole complete nighttime version of Disneyland's Beauty & the Beast Live? Please upload it. Thank you.
oh yeah you are right lol. I knew it was someone like her I got them confused because they Vanessa was in Into the woods and Toni was in Beauty and the Beast. lol it happens.
this one looks waay better than the one thats still performing here in florida, it's follows the movie way better too!!!! why would they get rid of it??????
Hmm, okay. Is there a contact info on that website so you can ask her to watch these videos and ask if it's really her? I'm sure Disneyland must had understudies. I know there are different people for DCA's Aladdin show and Disneyland's Billy & the Hillbillies show. Just so we can have a firm solid confirmation.
Having never seen the Florida versions I can't agree or disagree. I just miss these sort of things at the California Resort. Now it's all HSM. URGH! The show with the princesses that is there now is really just to sell the face painting and stuff in the antechamber area.
cant keep my tears back

Oh wow. I saw this play when I was like 3, back in the early 90s. I still remember it. Thanks for posting!
the ending to this is truly beautiful.
you cant imagine how excited i am to see this video. the belle is my fav singer, Stephanie J. Block!
Okay, thanks. Everyone else just kept saying it was SJB so I just assumed with them. I'll make sure to put this in the description.
This is so cool!I saw Beauty and the Beast atDisney World in Florida at MGM Studios when I was 9!
Beautiful!!! I was in tears!!!
yay! I I love Stephanie as Belle and this is the second full bootleg video I've seen from when she was at DLR. :)
me too! her in Wicked, too... just amazing
I'll be seeing Stephanie J. Block in The Pirate Queen soon! I had no idea she played Belle here! I love her so much!
The Fantasyland Theater also kinda inspired me to be in theater productions :)
Well this was also a scene change from the "Be Our Guest" number to "The Mob Song".
Happy birthday Belle 🎂🎉🎁🎊🎈
I love that library!

@mcdawnalds OMG yes she is thats Stephanie J. Block.... and she's AMAZING!!! She also played Elpheba in Wicked!
I aodre this show so much!

we did this musical in our school I love it
She's a broadway actress, she was in Wicked as the part of Elpheba and she's amazing, check her out in Wicked singing Defying Gravity
That's the Disney-MGM version. It's been playing there for years.
And it's STILL playing :p. Although the Florida and California shows were different.
What a wonderful paper bookcase.
I just love Stephanie! She's awesome! Sure, it's over the top, but have you seen Disney? She's Belle to a T! Thanks for posting this!
Well, from the previous comments on this video, says Stephanie is in the broadway musical "Wicked". It tells the story before Dorthy arrived in Oz.
oh yup you're right, my comp did do something weird but I can watch it now. Thanks
Amazing Beast-to-Human transformation!! And HOW ON EARTH did she change into her yellow dress so quickly?!?
Riiiight... keep in mind this was produced 16 years ago...
Well it's a theme park show version. They got to condense a feature length film into less than 30 mins.
This is still performed everyday at Disney World (Orlando) at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Everyone kept saying it's Stephanie J. Block. Honestly, I wasn't really sure. But there's a lot of fans out there that seem to think it's her. I didn't even know who SJB was until I posted the show on youtube. So how is Michelle Revesz? :D
I saw her in Chicago as Elpheba... she was great
I think this was done way before "A Change in Me" was added to the Broadway show. That song was written for Vanessa Williams when she played Belle. But that song would be a great song for SJB and so would "Home"

@moviesperson100001 probably to make way for The Spirit of Pocahantas show, which came a few months after Beauty and the Beast closed.
@jahdancer93 thats true at Hollywood Studios but in THIS show everyone not in a masked costume sings. you can tell its not the synthetic-y sound as normal shows are now. or at least in "Belle"
I love Stephanie, she's so cute. She's a bit over the top, but it's Disney, so she's forgiven. Plus, she's just generally awesome.
lol "Cue fold out library." Awesome.
I find the issue is that the Fantasyland Theater is open-air. People assume they can leave whenever they want. They have more vision of where they're going. Whereas the Hyperion Theater in California Adventure is enclosed and dark, people can't see and wait for the house lights.
hooray! a heart!
the bows are cute.
Basically the Belle is 10000% Stephanje J. Block, check her Instagram @Blockarcelus for proof
Yes, this is definitely Block.
Steph herself confirmed this, and so did her parents. The video's info should be updated.
If you're thinking the ACTUAL Broadway stage show, then no. But it is the ACTUAL Disneyland theme park production stage show, yes.
This is really great! I've never seen this show and it's awsome! Thanks for posting it! I really enjoyed it! ^_^ Belle has a beautiful voice! but how come it just stops? no mob song or beauty and the beast?

Better than Broadway 🙊🙈
To Walt Disney World/Disney-MGM? Their version is a little bit different. There are a few youtube videos up from that show.
Why did Belle hug her prince husband at 5:48?
i went to a couple of these shows when I was in Florida, and it's amazing how many rude people just get up and walk away without some sort of gesture or acknowledgement to the performers on stage... it is customary to clap, unless the production was completely bad.
Daniel Walker ok soir OK florine ♥ florine ♥
Could Disney Please bring this back to Disneyland Please!
The voices of the "animated" objects are from a recording, the humans are live.
IT'S STEPHANIE J BLOCK!!
HAHAH CUTE.
she's soooo goood.
Oh c'mon, that vibrato? That's Steph! And those notes being big like that, defintiely Steph!
@filmfreak11
weve just seen this in Toyko disney land. it was beautiful :D
HAHA it does! It also reminds me of March of the Witch Hunters from Wicked haha.
That would be interesting. But the Broadway show is closing this summer. So perhaps the tour version?
cool, thanks

WAIT A MINUTE! There's two Disneyland singers that are in WICKED?? I thought it was just "Pocahontas". Mindblowing.
in what manner are you speaking of??
this is sjb!!!! i love her!!!1

the endin was gr8 i was wonderin how they were goin to pull it off'but they did a gud job

I love how she just called him "Beast"
okay my computer stoppped streaming just now and now it looks like the beast is trying to jump belle! lol.
Yes this is most def SJB.
It's amazing how some people have never been to a live performance. Sit yo ass down till everyone is completely off stage and the music has finished!
Having never seen the Florida versions I can't agree or disagree. I just miss these sort of things at the California Resort. Now it's all HSM. URGH! The show with the princesses that is there now is really just to sell the face painting and stuff in the antechamber area.
they actually do it, i believe, not quite sure though, check it on broadway on line or sth like that! then u can tell me! LOL!
I always thought the transformation part was wicked cool.
hipnhappenin ok
Anyway you can ask Michelle Revez to take a look at these videos can ask if she thinks this is her?
I'm amazed by Disney's lack of imagination in this show!..it's so common it could have been done by a high school drama club!
This is better than the one at MGM Studios in Florida.
STEPHANIE J BLOCK ROCKS
yeah...we believe you...*coughNOTcough*
nice desses bell have
Steph is so darned cute =]
this is definitely stephanie. you can hear it in her voice
Best part of Transformation song missed...
hehehe ...the giant heart at the end.... :)
It's definitely pre-recorded--that's Angela Lansbury's voice
With out a doubt that is SJB!
So far the SJB argument has been pretty victorious.
SJB!!!
that is most definitely SJB. i've never been more sure of anything in my life :P (well...I have. But that's 100% SJB hahaha)
where is this disneyland? in USA, France or Hongkong?
I'm pretty sure it's recorded.
the circle of life... the birds and the bees... what else?
