This Could Be The WORST Market Of The Year!

  • Summer is here, and the flowers love the heat, but the season of vacations can bring complications for selling bouquets, as customers who are soon to travel are unlikely to buy. This could slow our sales this week as we have noticed this trend in previous seasons. But the power of positive thinking is in us, and this is the first season we are only bringing flowers and no veggies to market, so we are going to harvest all the flowers and make a big pile of bouquets to bring down to the farmers market, and we will do our best to make an amazing presentation to sell all the flowers we can, and overcome the summer sales slump.

Fresh to dry bouquets, what a FABULOUS IDEA! That's something no one else will have! should promote them as special. Not only beautiful now but unlike any other bouquet can carry on into becoming future holiday decorations too! Crafters would love it!

Ps. Have you thought about puting a white blanked under the red roof in the marked so the flowers don’t look so red/dark? 😊

First off, I love watching your videos… especially the harvesting and the snips synchronized to the beat :)
Not sure if you ever thought of this but here is an idea for you guys… I worked at a restaurant every summer and the restaurant would buy flowers wholesale from local Amish growers (Eastern shore USA) to put a few stems in a vase at each table in our dining room area. I also regularly go to a coffee shop at my University that does the same thing, always has fresh flowers from I believe local growers on their tables. That would also be an awesome weekly revenue for you guys if you could establish a partnership with some local businesses :)

It would be so helpful for y'all to put up LED string lights or even solar powered lighting throughout the farm so it's easier to see when picking flowers at night. Headlamps work, but it's so much easier with actual lighting. I work full time and have 3 small children so I do a lot of my gardening/cutting/just taking care of my lil backyard plot of veggies and flowers. Amazon has some very affordable choices of string lights and solar floodlights. Just a thought! Love y'all thank you for the amazing informational entertaining videos! 💜

I love that Sea Holly, it's spiky, like my personality lol The thing about flowers is, many of us may grow some in our own gardens, but I still want to see mine in my garden, because I don't have room to grow loads, due to everything else, so I still need to buy cut flowers too. I'm guessing many people are in the same boat. It's not the same as growing veggies that you actually have to harvest, and eat.

Gorgeous stuff. Someone else commented on the lighting under the canopy, I agree, it tends to not show them to their best advantage, there is some red reflection on the bouquets-

    • @YouCantEatTheGrass
      @YouCantEatTheGrass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It's true and it's not just on camera, but in person. I tell people to pick up bouquets and compare them in natural light if they want to. Once a bouquet is in the hand they are basically always going to buy something. The red light doesn't seem to affect the front of the display, those bouquets have their true colour so I don't think it has too much of an affect on sales.

Just think about advertising them as you get them fresh, then you let them dry, you now have flowers for your home rest of the year. Your logo, paint the roof red, on your banner, red attracts peoples eyes. I say all this out of love for you all. God bless good luck.

I'd be curious if you can make like dried flower terrariums or globe displays. Maybe use sand at the bottom, put the flowers in, arrange like a glass garden and glue the sand and flowers in. Just a thought. I remember my father used to buy square glass displays of dried flowers. I thought they were really beautiful. They couldn't really be moved much or the flowers would fall apart, in which case, we would have to buy new ones.

Anyone else find it so satisfying that the pruners synced up with the music overlay? Beautiful! All the hard work is paying off for you guys. I’m glad that you guys are finally seeing some consistency at the markets. If i lived there, I’d be there as often as I could!

If I were at your market, I honestly can’t tell you which bouquet I would choose. They are all so beautiful! This week, though, the blue ones were very special. Serena, your work gets better and better.

If you want peonies, you harvest before they open. When they are like a marshmello, cut and box dry, store in a box in the flower cooler. When you get them out, recut stem and put into vase of water. They will rehydrate and be beautiful. I always have until end of July. I am in PA zone 6.

    Fantastic idea 💡 👏.
You should definitely put up signage at the farmers market and your roadside stand fresh bouquets turn into dry bouquets 💐. Would think because they will last much longer, people would be more inclined to purchase them. You could probably charge a bit more for them as well.
Nicole at YT flower hill farm, also uses her shorter stems to make small inexpensive bouquets for children to purchase. That could be another idea when you know more children will be coming to the markets. Or maybe a parent/grandparent might want to get them for a child. Thought that was another unique great idea. The various flower types, colors and arrangements you guys are now able to offer is outstanding. And that too sets you apart from lesser established farms.

What do you think of the idea of putting an assortment of flowers out at the market that children could use to make their own bouquets. You could use up the 'extra' blooms and draw families to your market stall.
