Other videos show the filter coming out (and back in) easily - this is more realistic. Also, I wasted 15-20 minutes trying to re-install a new filter against the water pressure. TURN OFF THE MAIN WATER VALVE AND RUN THE DOOR WATER DISPENSER UNTIL EMPTY.

I just just changed my filter for first time in my 6 month old Samsung fridge with French Doors...... I had to shut the {Alarm} off first, THEN push and hold the {Icemaker} button, even my manual didn't say that, I had to find another video that showed how.......

It may make it easier to remove the filter if the water is turned off. I usually don't do it as I do not want to pull my refrigerator out each time I want to replace the filter. I guess you could also turn off the water at the street level but again, that just seems like a lot of extra work each time you replace the filter.

I am not sure. Are you sure your ice tray is fully inserted into your fridge? I had an issue with my fridge not making ice before. It turns out, there was ice that had fallen behind the tray that prevented the tray from being inserted fully. This prevented the machine from making ice. I would recommend pulling out your ice tray ALL the way out and verify there is no ice in the back.

Water valve is usually located inside somewhere. If you have a two story house, it is probably downstairs. Filter life really depends on how much it is used. We use our filter a BUNCH!

Maybe try making a while lot of ice then dumping it, make more, dump it......maybe?!?! But if you have a stainless steel sink I wouldn't dump it in the sink but instead the bath tub or a bucket, if you melt a lot of ice in ss sink it can cause condensation to fork under the sink and get everything under there wet and make you think that you have a leak in your sinks water line or drain pipe. I hope this helps. But if may be stupid advice. Good luck!

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Samsung requires us to TURN OFF THE WATER SUPPLY LINE BEFORE changing a filter! For us, that means strong
arming the refrigerator out of it's position as a built-in appliance. We have a large one, which is a tight fit - and heavy - and that is just not going to happen. So we have to go out to the yard and turn off the main supply line to the whole house. dispense water from the fridge until the water is gone - replace the filter - then go back and turn on the water supply. And then we get to run all the water lines in the house to clear the air from them. It's so ridiculous! THIS alone is a reason I will never buy another Samsung fridge! 🤬 I thank you for posting the video. I was surprised to see you didn't mention the water supply line at all. I am curious if you did this process without turning it off - and you didn't get a flood? It would really help if you could answer that.

I hear your pain! Especially if your water valve is behind your fridge :-( I would probably just use some channel locks or pliers and remove it without turning off the water valve. It won't hurt anything. It is just harder to remove that way.

It could also be that since the filter isn’t OEM, there could be some minor imperfections this causing tight spots within the gaskets.

@@k.m4411 pull the fridge out and look for the water line attached to the wall.
