Thanks for the explanation, I didn’t know what they were. I only collect what I like. Chase, Treasure Hunts don’t care, not in for the money. Scalpers are despicable and they really tear up the shelves and packaging.

I only buy a chase piece if I like the car. Green or gold wheels and gold trim doesn't appeal to me. Buying a Chase online for a ridiculous price makes zero sense to me. The thrill is in the hunt for me. When you find a nice piece on the pegs for the same price as a mainline, that's a good day. Chase pieces are meant to be a surprise or a reward for the collector not an income source for scalpers. Cheers !

I was gonna type a comment but you already spoke for me! It's so fun when you earn it and find it the fun way. Most employees at stores have no clue so they put it on the shelves for us to find and it's such a thrill.

When I was a kid it was a real thrill just to buy a nice looking car. Now everyone's gone mad raiding boxes on pallets to find a chase car. The toy shelves are a mess because everyone wants that treasure or super treasure hunt. I think adults today act worse than kids.

Great video, congrats on your finds. That 57 chase piece is really sweet. Its all corporate mumbo-jumbo and a way to get into our minds as consumers. I have no problem with it, on a stressful day i have found supers, Chase's, green machines and ultra reds and felt like whatever was bugging me at the moment just seem to disappear, i believe they are limited because lately i just haven't had any luck. The ones that elude me are the ultra chrome corvette treasure hunt, the primered chevelle from fast and Furious premium series and the entertainment series Yellow pizza planet truck from Toy Story, surprisingly i have came across plenty of gold bone shakers from the 50th Larry Wood Series.

I'm the same way, whatever appeals to me is what I pick up, most of the time it's a muscle car, sometimes it isn't... I've started easing into the 80's & 90's model cars as of late, but my focus is on oddball 30's-60's stuff some 70's.

There’s a super treasure hunt in about every 3rd or 4th case of hot wheels. There’s a regular treasure hunt in damn near every other case. Key is to know what your looking for and stay vigilant. You WILL find them..... in time.

I found the R32 GTR and RX7 STH this year; I also found 2x RS1600 Ford ID Chase Cars too. My most recent find was a Johnny Lightning White Lightning Firebird (pretty much all White except the convertible top). Just have to keep your eyes open.
Avoid special trips...just take opportunities to look if you are already there for some other purpose.
I too have had to pay the scalpers but I always get them from the desperate ones that sell lower than anyone else:)

Don't forget in 1999 Matchbox came out with the 2000 decal somewhere on the car which was 1 of 1000 very limited it was their idea of a treasure hunt. Also Matchbox in 1996 came out with a 1997 Edition called the 75 challenge they were gold painted cars they were just like Hot Wheel treasure hunts they were 1 of 10000 just like the treasure hunts, I've been collecting Hot Wheels and Matchbox since 1968 I was in second grade when is sweet 16 Hot Wheels first came out now I'm 60 years old, I haven't opened a Hot Wheel or a matchbox in almost 30 years. I have thousands of cars. Before that all we had to play with was Tootsie toys, yes I still have them and collect them also. It's a fun hobby but I don't know what I'll ever do with all of them, that will be my son's problem, I would get diecast cars for my son for Christmas and he would look at me and say Dad is this just a look at or can I open it and play with it? I said yes I had to buy two of every car, including Johnny lightnings. It's a fun hobby keep up the great videos

I will guess another collector has shared this figure already, but the Greenlight Green Machines almost always represent 2% of the regular run (on some low production runs (like 4250 or less - with some issues of the Black Bandit series) the GMs may repesent 10% of the regular run. For another example, I have a Hobby Edition 1970 GTO that is limited to 1000 pcs and I was told the GMs reoresent 10% of the run. If another collector has more info on this please add to or correct this. Cheers and happy hunting!
That's my guess, is the reason I did this search tonight - that collectors CHASE the rarities...

I believe what the last comment stated: the hunt is the best part, and getting rewarded the Chase or treasure!
I found many of all out in the wild and bought online. The online buy's aren't my fav.
But sometimes you have to do it that way.
For instance, I wanted a super treasure hunt from back in '06, I didn't start collecting Chase/treasure hunts until this year. But been collecting for twenty! Go figure

I just bought 2 Greenlight green machine 60s dodge trucks, I only collect dodge trucks and power wagons, I got the green machines simply because they are a different color than the rest of them. I really don’t care about brand or chase or green, I just want all the 1:64 dodge sweptline and power wagons I can find, I’m not reselling and I don’t pay no exorbitant prices. I see some people on eBay advertising regular green trucks as green machines, just because they are a shade of green paint, but conspicuously not the metallic paint…

I agree, it’s gotten out of control with collectors going after chase cars or treasure hunts. All I want is a nice toy vehicle that has nice detail and great quality. It has become a crazy addition with some collectors that gotta beat everyone else to get chase or treasures to the point that they will buy boxes of vehicles at the stores and not let anyone else get a chance at buying g a car they want or to at least complete a collection. Everybody let’s all share and enjoy the collecting hobby and to the toy vehicle companies out there make more limited edition vehicles that don’t have crazy weird colours that really shouldn’t be on a vehicle. To me a chase or treasure vehicle does not look good with red tires or yellow tires or tinting widows strange colours or chrome gold interior that looks silly to me. Anyways I like to try to have a nice collection and if I can complete it I’d be happy with that but I won’t bother with going crazy trying to buy boxes of vehicles just to see if a treasure or chase is in the box cases that stores get before they put them on the shelf. Plus a chase or treasure should only be limited to one per person so someone else might get a chance at finding one. So many times I’ll go to my nearby store and hot wheels, M2, AW and other toy vehicles are all dis organized and shelfs a mess after people go through them to get want they want and I see the looks on employee faces when they gotta clean up the mess collectors leave behind. I will always put things back where they belong on a shelf to make work more pleasant for the employees. Okay I’ll stop ranting on about this but just had to say my thoughts and hope I haven’t offended anyone. Let’s all enjoy and share our love for the hobby

You should check out Heavy Metal One64 Channel he has a lot of Chase pieces... A Hot Wheels candy striper Gasser sold for $910 on eBay a few weeks ago, it was number 120 of 4000, right now there's a white lightning Zinger, I think it's a 55 Nomad for sale for 499, I would never pay that much, even if I had the money to spend, but I guess it depends on how bad you want it and how much money you have to spend / waste

GREENLIGHT GREEN MACHINE: Only two percent of the cars from each production run are Green Machine versions. GreenLight includes them in every scale it produces: 1:64, 1:24. To put that in perspective, if GreenLight runs 5,000 pieces of a vehicle, 100 of those will be Green Machines. Exception are 1/18 were done very early, but no longer. And the new "evergreen" models that are open production have a Green Machine in every new cases.

Not a fan of "chase" diecast, but hey, to each his own, right? I remember Racing Champions NASCAR, both 1/64 and 1/24 scale having the "Chase the Race" series in the early 2000's. I think they had 4 or 5 different levels based on the diecast vehicle and whatever else came in the package. thediecastguide.com/nascar-diecast-for-sale/nascar-diecast-2001-ertl-racing-champions-nascar-2002-preview-22-ward-burton-caterpillar-dodge-intrepid-chase-the-race-series-164-die-cast-trading-card-moc-out-of-production/ LOVE the little sound effects especially the "Golden glow" sound effect! I'm 3 minutes in and I'm hearing alot of information that pertains to me, I probably own nearly 1,000 1:64 diecast models, and I've always thought most of the models with the oddball wheels were just not attractive, and never knew they were collectors, I knew about the silver stickers that say 750 models, but never knew if it wasn't actually marked in a way on the package that it could be a collectable! I fo have 1 question though, I own a few actual Treasure Hunt Editions that say Treasure Hunt on the card, I didn't hear you mention that.
