The boat only runs from Sathorn to Pakkret on the weekday afternoon. The alternative is taking a cab/bus to Sanam Nuea temple, 5 mins walk from Pakkret pier, and taking a 3 Bath boat ride to Koh Kret. It's much more lively there during the weekend. There's also a very good local craft beer bar on the island....highly recommended!
@oliveoyal You're welcome. It's not that far from where I live, so I'm there quite often. Most shops and restaurants opened till 5pm, except that beer bar that opened til 9pm. There are also several homestay places worth checking out!

Thank you Flora and Note for showing us this beautiful place in Thailand. I'm going to show my friends and family this beautiful video, thanks to the both of you.
Very nice tour of the island. Enjoyed the ride through the wetland. I like Thai speed boats. The long skinny one which took you to the island. Never visited there, but must try next time in BKK. Thanks much!
I visited Koh Kret in November just before COVID hit. Like you, wife and I took the same ferry up the Chao Phraya river from Sathorn. It’s crazy the ferry does not go all the way to Koh Kret but the journey and views are nice. We took a very small speedboat, return trip it was THB800 as I remember. We also visited on a week day which suited us as we like to avoid the crowds. Also cycled around the island too which was very interesting. I recommend this day trip to others who like to see a different side of BKK.

I am shocked guys. I have been to Koh Kret using the small public boats at 20 Bhat not so long ago. There are a few of them. I came back on a slightly bigger one and I think I paid 10 Bhat. I got to the Pier area by taxi from Chatuchak area though.
They didn't know this cheaper way. They hired a boat that can sit 15 people nearly 10 kms away, and it's a round trip meaning the boatman can probably only do one trip in a day.

@@Just-A-Cake-t2l They hired a boat from that can sit 15 people nearly 10 kms away, and it's a round trip meaning the boatman can probably only do one trip in a day.
Just a little tip: Ko Kret is not really the closest island near Bangkok. That would be Bang K(r)achao which is significantly bigger, a lot less crowded in the weekends and a bit more authentic (I went to Ko Kret a decade ago and it was a lot less touristy than now). For Bang Krachao it's just a quick taxi ride from Sikirit MRT station and then a little 2 min boat crossing for 20 baht. Then rent a bicycle for 100 baht/day (bring a copy of your passport). Also, I think you guys took a bit of an expensive route - From Nonthaburi Civic Center MRT (Purple line) you can get a taxi and within 15 mins (probably around 150 baht?) you are at the east pier to Ko Kret where you get a boat for a few baht. The MRT's from anywhere in the center should take around 45 minutes and around 60-70 baht one way.
You can leave from the Pa Kret pier and I think it was only 10 baht to get across on the ferry. It took about 60 seconds to get across to the island. But you have to take a taxi to the Pa Kret pier either from the Nonthaburi pier, or from the Ministry of Public Health Purple Line MRT station. But the taxi ride takes about 25-30 minutes, and there is a cost for the taxi-- although it was not 1500 baht. But yes Ko Kret was loads of fun. Go on a Monday when there are almost no other tourists there and you have all those bike trails almost to yourself, and the locals, and the dogs.
The music blasting at the end was everything 555. I hope Koh Kret recovers quickly from the recent flooding felt so sad for the lovely folks who own the pottery store their business has been severely effected by both Covid and then the flooding. Do buy their products if you plan to visit super affordable and make great gifts.Koh Kret really is a great day out.

OMG 😲 😱 From Nonthaburi pier you can take a public bus to Major Cineplex Pakkret and go to Wat sanamchai pier and take a taxi boat to Koh Kret pier on the opposite side of the river, overall cost does not exceed 50 baht per person and about 30 minutes if not traffic jam 😳
I was in Thailand for 2 months and received many bad treatments. Rude mostly or they just want your money constantly. Is tiresome and make your stay unpleasant.

Fortunately you two are not in Thailand with the influx of Chinese tourists - not COVID tested.
@@H.Witcher Please educate yourself before showing your ignorance. Chinese covid is the old one, not variant. We all have immunity. The WESTERNERS who never wear masks and never get jabs, they are more dangerous!!!
@@jomontanee I simply said it's a blessing for Flora and Note to be not in Thailand now but since you mentioned education and ignorance, I shall have you know I read and watch uncensored news. I know:
- China's hospitals and crematories are overrun
- China has a shortage of common cold/flu medicine and several countries including China has restrictions on number of tablets/capsules consumes can buy per day
- CCP has stopped reporting COVID numbers since WHO and other countries believe the official COVID reported numbers are significantly understated
- China has banned tourists from South Korea and Japan from entering their country since the 2 nations enforced restriction rules on Chinese travellers
- China expects ALL visitors to be tested negative before entering their country and staff at their airports wear full PPE.
- Chinese have booked out western vacinnations in HK that locals can't get their jabs
- Shanghai the Bund and supermarkets are near empty
I can go on with a longer list but I don't want to hijack Flora and Notes' channel. I have been to Thailand 3 times and love the people and food. I know many countries who depend on tourism have suffered since COVID hit the world 3 years ago but only time will tell if Thai's gambit will pay off.
Haha we just left KL but yes we'll be heading to Penang soon!
Wow! That is so expensive, last time I went (2 years ago) there was a local boat from the temple and I think it was 10 baht per person one way. I guess you were not at the right pier and getting a long-tail will always be more expensive. Still a beautiful island
Fact from the increase of Gasoline cost!
Yeah we followed a bad blog and went the expensive way... we know better now for next time!
@@FloraandNote would have thought that a Thai could do it better than me a farang.. haha. But I love your videos and look forward to more coming up
Nonthaburi Pier is nearly 10 km away and it's chartered boat that can sit 15 people, and return, meaning the boatman probably can only do one trip in a day.
คุณฟอร่า คนไทยไหมครับ พูดไทยสำเนียงดีนะครับ 😊
If you don't want a private boat you can use public boat to go to Pakkred or Wat Klang Kret
I think its the green flag boat but it doesn't have much travel
you might have to go by bus to Pakkred or taxi to Wat Klang Kret
Ko kret is just across Wat Sanam Nuea you can walk from Pakkred or Wat Klang Kret to Wat Sanam Nuea
if the boat doesn't stop at Wat Sanam Nuea pier
you can just ride a boat to cross Wat Sanam Nuea pier to Ko kret
Thanks for sharing this info so others can get there easier and cheaper than us 🙏😊
