I've gotten some insane steals with the Northeast Regional before. Some include $28 to Washington, DC and points in VA as well as Boston from New York, $17 to Philly, and others (this is from my student discount stacked with the lowest saver fare). Also this is great timing as I'm heading to DC on the SB Carolinian (basically a regional that travels to North Carolina and makes less stops) on Monday and I like hearing other perspectives on my favorite and most-used Amtrak service.
I am moving to Delaware soon, so this video was much appreciated! Also, I am from the Netherlands and I did NOT expect the announcement for your next video hahaha.
That they are! The third track from DC to Baltimore was upgraded to 125mph, so your higher speeds for longer durations was a direct byproduct of the infrastructure upgrades.
I'm glad you enjoyed! I try to upload on Saturdays at 10am CST, but school has been taking up a lot of my time lately, so uploads have been inconsistent. As for SLE, I have the footage already, it's just a question of when it goes out!
I'm gonna be moving down to Hampton Virginia for a new job soon, and I've been thinking about taking the train home to North Jersey for the hollidays instead of driving or flying. What would you guys recommend? Is it a better idea to take the Northeast Regional all the way from Newport News, VA to Newark Penn (~8 hr by train)? Or is it a better idea to drive to DC and take the Acela to Newark Penn instead (~3-4 hr driving, ~ 3 hr by train)?
advise against driving to or past Fredericksburg, as the I-95 backups between there and Woodbridge are guaranteed (outside of graveyard hours, ofc) if you can't make the 2 daily departure times from NPN, even taking a bus to Richmond, then Uber/Lyft to Staples Mill Rd (RVR) for the higher departure frequencies... would be much a better choice
I will in the future! I have some incredible puddle jumping flights from the heart of the Serengeti that I have yet to post, plus some other flights around the US. I also plan on going to England over Thanksgiving, so I should have some more flights from there.
It's the best way to travel in the Northeast US, but certainly not in the world. 200 mph would be incredible, but that would take some serious work before we could get there.
This is Amtrak. Absolutely nothing compared to the maglev super trains of Japan and china that travels at speeds of up to 375 pluss miles per hour. If they installed maglev super train technology in the northeast corridor, we're talking about boarding in Washington DC and being in your office in new york city in an hour or less. Try that in your beloved cars or on the slow and lethargic trains called Amtrak. You wanna talk about real trains? Highspeed bullet trains or better yet, maglev super train technology. But the mighty United States of America is so busy throwing money out into the universe. For exsample, America spent 200 billion dollars on the space shuttle program. Where's the shuttle now? Lets say the United States of America has that 200 billion dollars now. The maglev super train outfit can be purchased from Japan at 65 billion dollars for the northeast corridor. The line would begin in Washington DC and end in Boston stopping in Baltimore Philadelphia and New York city. Japan even offered to contribute 5 billion dollars towards the maglev project. When completed this maglev super train would travel at speeds of up to 375 pluss miles per hour. Again, board in Washington DC and be in your office in new york city in an hour or less. Now if the mighty United States of America was serious about fixing infrastructure, this would be more than well worth the investment. The system would serve everyone for decades to come but America wants to go to space where only a small few can benefit while everyone else still struggles to get around. America, what in the hell are you waiting for? Highspeed bullet trains !! Maglev super train technology, the new american dream..
Ok this is just funny, get normal high speed trains, not the meta of "maglevs" or "hyperloops", and by the way, it's America, you think your dumbass saying on a TH-cam comment will make the government just go "oh! Let's spend 500 billion dollars on futuristic bullshit instead of getting high speed rail like europe
Maglev is a gimmick, just like monorail. It requires its own dedicated track that can't be retrofitted to the existing rail system. High-speed rail on the other hand can integrate seamlessly into the existing US rail system. In fact, the northeast corridor already has a high speed rail system, the Acela. Not anywhere as fast as maglev, but a lot more versatile and therefore practical.
@@sleepysteev2735 Aaaaaha, ha, haaaa are you serious? Acela in the northeast corridor does a little over 100 mph and only for a few miles. A little over 100mph is below bullet class. A bullet class train does a minimum of 180 mph. No train in this great land of milk and honey can go that fast, sorry. The mighty United States of America can put a man on the moon to jump around and pick up rocks at a cost of billions but does not have highspeed bullet trains, something they should of had this decades ago. However the United States of America does have a monorail system in 2 areas located in both Disney themparks. If you take a look closely behind the technical features of these systems they are pretty complex considering they have been in service since the 50s or 60s. And also in service is the shanghai maglev train or transrapid magnetic transport. The line operates in Shanghai china. It has a cruising speed of 431 km/h or 268 plus mph. This i the fastest train on the planet that is in service. China and Japan have maglev super train potential and the way they are, knowing them and their great advanced achievements, im sure giving them time, they will be constructing their superconducting maglev technologies. Japan has miles of test trains already and many of out government americans has been on it. Japan and China both at this time are going through some speed bumps just like the United States does when they are getting ready to launch rockets into the unknown of space. But you have to remember we're not going to talk about the so called mighty United States of America, we're talking about Japan and China. To far more advanced countries that don't sit around and come up with every excuse not to do something like americans do, they simply do it. They love and except the challenges of mega projects. The chuo Shinkansen magnetic levitation super train technology is currently under construction but in phaseswith cutting edge magnetic technology. Once completed, it will provide a direct line between 2 cities reducing travel times by around 50%. You can not underestimate the far east because they are are not only the masters of train technologies but are always thinking of ways to better it and china and Japan are tied up in this great speed war. Sorry but the mighty United States of America is not apart of that. They're to far behind. But again lets see how it works out in California. The first state to introduce highspeed bullet trains to a country that should of had this decades ago. Oh yeah may i add that texas has been given the green light buy state supreme court to begin their 30 billion dollar 200 plus mph bullet trains from Huston to Dallas....

For $37 I go from Boston to VA, it’s truly fantastic!
In Delaware, they actually pronounce it “New-ARK”, as in Noah’s.
The Amtrak Northeastern Regional goes through my home town of Lynchburg Virginia 2 times a day...
