I guess listening to us all will help them sell a ton more of them. They must have realised after they probably sell nearly as many of the pocket 2 as they were hoping to because it wasn’t enough of an upgrade, I didn’t upgrade to it but I’ve already got my Pocket 3! They probably waited so they could get it right this time. I can’t wait to try it out!
6:58 That depends on what kind of family vacation you're going on. If it's heavily activity based where you're physically running around and potentially getting wet. Action 4 is best. But the low light of the Osmo is unrivaled and for the reason - it's a better choice.
Just got my Pocket 3 today. The 1" sensor is fantastic! Makes the Pocket 2 look like a toy... I currently use three Pocket 2 cameras to film the local orchestras in a dark all-wood theatre. Will be testing the Pocket 3 next month, and from the looks of it, I will have to upgrade all of my cameras. Thanks, DJI. 😜
This is a great summary of all the questions we've been seeking answers for! AFAIK the Pocket 3 is 32bit float, which may explain some audio compatibility issues with the original DJi Mic. This 32bit float feature of the Mic 2 is being washed over by almost every review of the Pocket 3. Why? Did DJi request that the audio not be delved into too deeply?
Kinda disagree for family vacation using Action 4 if only one camera. I will definitely pick Pocket 3. I just came back from NYC vacation and most of my footage from Action 4 at night are unusable. Lots of ghosting on low light. Only good one are in Time Square where tons of light sources. Also the infinite focus with action 4 is less dramatic and too wide for most scene . I end up using my wife footage from her iPhone 14. I do alot of mountain biking though where my Action 4 is the best for that usage.
Too wide is definitely a problem. I have Insta360 One RS and the lens is too wide while also being fisheye like. For rectiliniear crop I'm already losing image quality and it's still too wide. Regular smartphone camera sits around 25mm equivalent which would be even better. So I like the 20mm equiv. in this one, much more usable for general use.
Thanks for the follow up. Just used mine for the first time today, and I’m stunned. It’s dynamic range and colour rendition are better than the Action 4, Insta360 GO 3, GoPro Hero 11, and iPhone 14 Pro.
@@pan6593 I’m always trying to find the best quality output for my videos - especially the on/in-car footage. Sometimes I have four cameras mounted to a car at once for multiple angles on a single run.
Nice Video. One question - Can you record from the internal mic and the wireless mic at the same time for situations like behind the camera interviews?
When you're using the deity duo mic and have it mounted to the cold shoe mount on the side, what handle/attachment are you using on the pocket 3? Also, with the 3.5 to usb-c adapter, is the pocket 3 able to keep the 2 audio tracks separate (in stereo)?
Thank you for answering what should’ve been the number one question on this list: does the Osmo 3 have built-in Wi-Fi so that you can connect it to the app on your phone? the answer is yes!
Hey! Question - in the creator kit, can you record dual audio - one channel from the DJI Mic 2 system, and the other channel the internal microphone of the Pocket 3? Thanks!
Great video and got exactly the answers I was looking for. Thanks so much. I will add that It's a real shame they are not having their products operate together. It could be a great ecosystem instead of just a series of isolate products. -H
One design mistake is that the wireless mic kit uses lavalier mics with TRRS, the new Wireless mic 2 uses TRS so my lav will not work in the new Mic 2 unless you add an adaptor. No idea why they made that change.
Hi! Great videos - THANK YOU! Maybe you can also test this: How are the webcam features? Can the gimbal and other settings be adjusted with a desktop app? Would this be a potential Insta360 Link killer?
4:00 So now the question is, if DJI are STILL refining their mics, what is being shipped with the Pocket 3 and how could it benefits for whatever enhancements they do to them before an autonomous release? Nobody likes to be bitten by the early adopter curse...
No issues on overheating so far when I tested mine. Battery is around 100-110 minutes when shooting on 4k 30 d-log. Was not able to maxed out the battery since I was using 60g of memory and it run out at 96 min but there's still some juice remaining. Test does not include the extension battery.
Thats awesome i still have my DJI Mic 1. My only other question is will it work plugging it into the grip extension instead of the bottom of the gimbal?
I’ve been killing my P3. It’s simply amazing and way easier to use. Feels great. Fires up quickly and performs so well. It’s a monster upgrade from P2.
I enjoyed the Q&A. Now, I would like to delve into the details of the WebCam features. My portable 4K WebCam and microphone are much larger than the entire Pocket-3 kit. It would be a significant advantage if I could use the Pocket-3 as my go-to webcam kit when traveling.
Yes, by plugging it in with USB-C, it automatically switches to Webcam mode, but I'm not sure if it's 4K or if face tracking works. These are things I don't know.@@ElevatedVehicles
@@TheSmartWoodshop man that would be sweet if face tracking and all that other stuff could work webcam mode. Thank you for the information and the question to ponder

The webcam function for the Osmo pocket 3 works brilliantly. Face tracking works with latest firmware update for webcam. Amazed how good the picture quality is for webcam. The main challenge is figuring out how to attach to the monitor so that I can look at the monitor and camera concurrently.
@@ningyi5727 I’ve used the DJI mic 2 in webcam mode. But my blue yeti plugged into my pic still works just fine. Which reminds me. I need to try thr Blue yeti plugged straight into the pocket 3 and see if that works.

At 02:40 you said you tried a few mics. But what happened when you tried? Did they work or no? I would want to use the rhode wireless go with it but still unclear if it will work
Good summary, thanks. It would be so good if the Pocket 3 did 32 bit float recording in stereo from its internal mics, not needing the wireless mic. You hinted earlier that it might be a future upgrade - let's hope so! (That I think would be a world's first). Meanwhile - does the Pocket 3 do what the Pocket 2 does, namely keeping the stereo sound image aligned with the gimbal head, regardless of the direction of the body? This means that if you stand beside a road, looking directly across it, and with the gimbal looking across, the cars will be heard passing from left to right and right to left. Then if you rotate the gimbal head with the joystick so that it's now pointing to your left (without moving the handle), all the traffic will now be heard on the right hand side, and the video image will also show the traffic on the right. I have a nasty feeling that DJI may have quietly dropped that feature when it reduced the number of mics from 4 to 3.
Heck yes. Thank you for this video. I have been waiting for the information at 0:49 and no one else has mentioned it. Definitely looking to move from GoPro to this pocket. I think it is the camera I have been waiting for.
1:02 the audio is left channel. Were you recording in Stereo mode? If so, you can use both mics and get a true stereo soundtrack. Edit: 3:24 answered my question. Cool!
Do you need to turn on the dji 2 mic and the pocket 3 separately? I was hoping that when you turn on the pocket 3 it could send a signal to turn on the mic automatically. In case one is prone to forget to turn on the mic sometimes... like me.
I noticed when you hook up external audio, you took off the extension handle, can you not run USB-C audio through the battery or extension handle ports?
Thanks for sharing some great insights on this video. One question I have is, can you attached an earphone or headphone via USB-C to monitor the sound or listen to playback?
Thanks for the awesome video. One question though: when having 2 Mic 2 attached: does it record the audio splitted on left and right audio channel or merged? AFAIK the osmo action 4 merges it so it is not real stereo just a fake one

Rather than tuck it in a pocket, it would be great if I could clip it to my belt when I need my hands free like I do with my phone. Is there a holster or clip attachment for the pocket 3? Or just a large clip pocket (maybe like some for tools)?
So if you want to use the Pocket 3 to film self blogs sitting at a table with a tripod…you wouldn’t be able to use the tripod in conjunction with the DJI Mic 1 because the receiver has to be plugged into the bottom?
