The car @ 3:47 is from Denmark, not Holland.. Somehow I don't think the dutch use white plates on their cars..

yes, Freiburger mixed which part of europe cars are from during drag week all the time.
Confirmed... the Dutch seem to mostly use yellow plates (black for vintage vehicles?) with a different number pattern.
Yellow for regular car's and trucks, green for dealership plates, blue for taxi's, white without the EU symbol for small trailers, dark blue or black for classics. That green Chevy has Danish plates on it. The guy from Holland had a yellow first gen Camaro I believe

The judges look each competitors ride over & judge the engineering
which went into building the ride.
I'd like to see something similar at your events. Pick a car, any car and give it the engineering once over for us.

Making your audience pay for something that was free before is a poor decision. People think you're trying to game them. Even if it isn't like that, the audience thinks it and that's what matters. Also, forcing this stuff and trying to sell it by holding these small pitches doesn't work. High pressure sales don't work anymore. People have outgrown them. I know you probably didn't come up with it but the person who did most likely didn't attend a business school. Now, personally, I enjoy the show although I see myself watching it a lot less than before. Save the ship before it starts to sink. Get what I'm writing?

Vegaspsycho They've had 2 Drag Weekends, 3 days instead of 5.
Vegaspsycho they try to keep the actual drag week somewhere near the center so eu get participation from both sides. Plus, more tracks over here in the east

That's a Danish car .. Well... The plates are Danish. Everything parked between them is American steel..

I wish I could be there, that's the type of vacation I'd be interested in.
I've thought the exact same thing. Fly over, rent a Harley and follow the tour around to each track. 34-40 dollars a night for a shitty motel that's pretty much just for sleeping in, 100-200 dollars per day for snacks and drinks and gas and then theres just the cost of the flights and the bike. Bookable 6 months in advance, the flights should be pretty cheap and you can rent a Harley for 7 days directly from Harley Dealers starting at around $600 depending on what model you want. Start saving now and you could go.

Having just priced it up for a comfortable trip from here in the UK...
£184 exchanged into $240 @6x$40 for motels (average cost, but can probably find a shittier one for cheaper).
£600 exchanged into $778 for spending money giving what will work out at more than $100 a day... (Drinks, snacks, Gas etc)
£714 for non-stop flight to LA
And ordering from Oakland Harley dealers CA94621, £533 exchanged into $693 for a week rental of a Harley 883 Iron.
£2031 and thats 2017 Drag Week sorted, although if you call it £2500, it'll take your spending money to just over $1400 for the week.
holy shit boss, you got that so planned out to a T, I didn't think about it like that. that's actually a really good idea. if they keep drag week going 10 years down the line wich I hope they do, I hope it quadruples in size of an event. us motorheads need to join together and take back the streets.
I'll have to tighten the old belt a bit while saving but I'm willing to bet it would still be worth it even if I don't see any racing and just spend my time road-tripping and talking to all the piston-heads at the side of the road while admiring the machines.
And over the next 10 years, i recon there's no reason it shouldn't carry on increasing in size. Add in advertising and sponsors and what not. The numbers present there go up every year with people jetting in from half way around the world as Freiburger explained. Hell, it was one of my fellow Brits that won the Spirit of Drag Week award a couple of years back. This tells me the kind of Americans this show attracts are all really cool guys and girls. Any and all rivalries are settled on the track and the rest of the show is just good times in good company. Plus, I can't see American car culture, especially the muscle genre, dying out any time soon. It might end up in the far future that it's old body ford and chevy's humming down the track all powered by electric but as long as a quarter mile exists and there are 4 wheels and a steering wheel, all that is roadkill will find a way.
rite on. what is the car scene like over on your side of the pond, what kind of emissions do you have to go by, that sorta stuff. what kind of stuff do they enforce strictly?
Well our road tax is currently based on CO2 emissions and as of this years budget, the cost in tax per year for cars registered before march 2001 is £145 for cars up to 1549cc and £235 for cars above that.
For cars registered after that date, it's based on the actual amount of CO2 in milligrams per km.

The M.O.T, TAX and insurance is always enforced strictly as is use of a handheld mobile phone. Eating drinking and smoking are permitted while driving so long as you are clearly in full control of the vehicle. If not, you can be pulled and done on the grounds of 'careless driving' punishable by 3 penalty points and a £60 fine. Gain 12 points in a 3 year period and your licence gets yoinked. (There is a maximum 6-point limit for the first 2 years of holding said licence). It is possible to be banned for life in certain circumstances.
The MOT itself is a mandatory safety inspection required every 12 months and covers, lighting and signalling equipment, steering (including suspension), brakes, tyres and wheels, seat belts, body, structure and general items. It also includes body and trim components such as spoilers, bumpers and mirror housings. They also look at exhaust, fuel and emissions and driver's view of the road. Its the emissions inspection part that determines your cars tax bracket for the following year and you need to have a valid MOT certificate in order to get a tax disk. Well, by rights, there is no actual tax disk anymore. It's all logged on the system now and just registered and attached to the cars licence plate like the insurance details are so police cars that are equipped with PNC equipment, which is pretty much every car these days, the equipment can automatically read the licence plate of every car it passes and flag up people driving while uninsured or with no valid tax etc etc.
While the MOT is valid for 12 months, if you get pulled over and your car visibly has an issue that it would fail an MOT test on, the police officer can write you a ticket which orders you to get the issue repaired within 7 days. The failure to abide by any regulation will be met with punishment.
There is actually a hell of a lot more bullsh*t to driving over here but those a few things that immediately come to mind.
Then again, we are the land of 3 laws and 16,000 statutes and corporate regulations. Think the American government knows how to fu*k its people over at times??? Yup... They learnt that sh*t from my government...

It's a danish car, but they may well have trailered it to Holland and shipped it from there. The Port of Rotterdam is, after all, the largest port in Europe.
