The short and simple answer is NO! The ESTJ does not share the same values as INFP and does not see the INFP’s greatest strengths as anything of value. I had an ESTJ tell me quite directly after a date that there is no point in continuing the interaction because, in his words: “You are not a challenge. I compete with someone in the same shoes. The higher they fly, the more exciting it becomes. I have felt so drained for a week after I had to listen to you for an hour. I am not a trained psychoanalytic. I am digesting all your problems through myself, because I am having empathy. But this is not the intention of a date. I am not a charity. I am not your mother. I am not a Mother Theresa. I am not in a relationship with you. I just want to have a good time. Is this abnormal?” So, if you attempt to engage in anything beyond the superficial then you are wasting their valuable time. They do not care about your feelings or experiences. They do not place value in getting in touch with any interiority of humanity. No philosophy. Nothing that you cannot immediately see and touch. They seem to have a seriously low capacity for empathy. As low as the capacity that INFP has for conflict or socializing.
Damn that sounds rough. Sorry you had to go through that experience. Estjs can be very harsh in speech which for other types might be ok but for infps is too much to deal with
I'd love to see those comparisons with other types as well! The dynamic between INFPs and ESTJs is quite interesting to me. It was almost weird for me because they're usually completely different from me on the outside, but I noticed that they're also interested in me. It's not like with other extraverts, or for example with ISTJs. I see that ESTJs are quite naturally drawn to INFPs. I was always shocked when they showed me their interest. There's an unexplained connection. During parties, I've had the experience of doing my INFP stuff and out of nowhere, an ESTJ finds me. Quite often those conversations were pretty awkward, but I see some understanding between these types, especially in groups of people where we might reach quite similar conclusions. There are also a lot of differences, but I'm in awe of how much we can have in common. Sometimes I had the feeling that they have this internal motivation to protect me or help me. Not necessarily that I need it, but I appreciate that somebody remembers me.
Great video, Matt ! As always.👍💪🔥 BTW in my personal real life case, it is ESTP-INFP textbook classic dynamic that brought me ( and still brings me...) nightmares in comparison to ESTJ-INFP dynamic. By understanding the dynamics in both MBTI and Socionics and putting both of it on the middle ground, I come to this conclusion about ESTJ-INFP dynamics and be glad to share that with you and your fellow followers right here. 1. ESTJ & INFP both are in Delta Quadra and both are Si users. Si is about maintaining our comfort zone and what are tangibly feels home to us. ESTJ is leading with 'king energy' like all Delta Quadra people does. King Energy means soft power, someone with confidence, somehow neither physically intimidating nor dramatic/edgy kind of power. Se power is a kind of trying on invading my Si child comfort zone. Feeling intimidated by it. To understand energetically Se power vs Si power, the podcast video by Jordi Wild interviewing Bojan Krkic is a good example to look at and making comparisons, even tough that interview was in Spanish. Jordi is clearly an Se user, while Bojan ( highly possibly Alpha Quadra ISFJ) showing comforting Si energy. 2. This point is easy to understand by those who are familiar with Beebe's Model. ESTJ brings parental energy in his/her Si Function and is welcomed by INFP Si Child. ESTJ simply parenting INFP by Si Function BTW. And ESTJ Te Hero easily connected with INFP Te Anima/Animus/Inferior and both people backing up each other since ESTJ's Anima/Animus/Inferior is also INFP's Hero. Sorry this is too long... And I'll always feel thankful to one of my online typology acquaintance who is explaining about Se power vs Si Power through his web blog site.
@@GeekPsychology Thank you Matt for generously sharing your life experiences and showing how INFPs are unique individuals with different kind of life experiences.
Your perspective is less 'different' than you seem to realise. It's insightful, and also well-known in other typology circles. I could just as easily know an ESTJ for longer, and my ESTJ could be unrecognisable to you as an ESTJ. For 21 years, you might have mistakenly known an ESTP as an ESTJ. It is only through solid theoretical foundations that one can know any type. For instance, the compatibility of Te+Si with Fi+Ne is built into the correct definitions of these functions, and that is why they manifest in the most beneficial compatibility between these types. However, due to a widespread lack of understanding of the types, many ESTJs are mistyped ESTPs and many INFPs are mistyped INFJs, and this creates a lot of noise that obscures this compatibility in the MBTI community. @@GeekPsychology
Just ok? ok. And here I wanted to provoke a riveting discussion on the deeper mysteries of typology with a highly successful MBTI youtuber. I guess you're not biting. 😒@@GeekPsychology
Is that what you were doing? 🤯 Were you wanting to talk about one type appearing different depending on life experience? Or definitions of cognitive functions? Or socionics in general? Or mistyping? Or the typology community as a whole? And which aspects? There were so many open threads that I just said “ok”. Also because I know that most people who “criticize” or “dislike” my videos or typology in general (whichever form it is) are not right for my channel anyway and they’d be better off finding other creators who “bite”. Please share an article you wrote or a video you made that you want people to watch. Hopefully they’ll see it and resonate with it. 👍
I am an INFP. My oldest daughter, I do believe is a ESTJ. My youngest daughter tested as an ISFP. My youngest & I are more like logs & my oldest is our fire. She gets up & going. 😂
hey Matt this is first time commenting.... so in my experience with some video game if the game allowed me to then I wanna try to at least try to talk to that Monster to at least understand that Monster first and if all thing failed then unfortunately I had to turn on my Te function :(
I’m sorry but I actually don’t know much about astrology. Couldn’t quite find it useful. Can you explain it to me based on your perceptions of it? Maybe I can help you clear up what’s different about cognitive functions and even point to research on things like the neuroscience behind personality type vs astrology. But like I said, I don’t know much about astrology- only my sign.

I get along well write ESTPs. I have a few in my life.
ESTJs were hard until I got over some of my Te issues…
@@GeekPsychology Thank you Matt for generously sharing your life experiences and showing how INFPs are unique individuals with different kind of life experiences.
Problem is, do you understand compatibility between INFPs and ESTJs? Socionics sets out the compatibility, or lack thereof, very clearly.
I do because one of my best friends of 21 years and my stop mom are ESTJs.
My intention was to give a fun / different perspective in this video. ^^

That’s me and my twin sister😅
Fascinating dynamics!
Based on my experience dealing with ESTJ, Infp and Estj are incompatible .But I know there can have an exception..
I am an INFP.
My oldest daughter, I do believe is a ESTJ. My youngest daughter tested as an ISFP.
My youngest & I are more like logs & my oldest is our fire. She gets up & going. 😂
I believe it!
I like how you name and illustrate the functions. It’s the best visual I’ve seen and it’s very helpful. Details are my downfall.

very fitting ^^
My sister is an ESTJ. Still not sure I like it 😂
You Myers Briggs people really do act the same as people who worship astrology.

Don't compare mbti to astrology ..
MBTI types are observable to human behavior..
@@GeekPsychologyGood response.
