I broke my pinkie, years ago, on a track day. I had the wrong type of gloves. Still have. Time for a change. I didn't know about the palm slider. Thank you Doc.
@@Dr.MichaelsMotorcycles Riding with friends in the alps, because i didn't see them in the mirrors anymore i turned my head back and ran off the road in to a ditch. Luckily not too fast but my hand landed on the tarmac and it pulled my fingers apart.. Since then i either concentrate on riding or stop to do things.
Nice production, Dr. Michael. Good info too. I bought a second pair of my first ever MC gloves. I see they are shorter than they should be, missing the pinky limiter, but with a little padded palm slider. I was just about to wash them, but I'm going to upgrade instead. Thanks for the vid, buddy.
My most recent crash was exactly why I still preferred gloves with palm sliders. At less than 5mph, I slid hard onto concrete road due to my wet tires (just finished washing the bike OMG I'm an idiot!). That sliders put my right palm sliding far and only my elbow lost some DNA, again! Too bad my right knee lost some...more than DNA. Can't describe how it looks now after some time healing, but just a nice tattoo / reminder to wear something other than shorts.
Sorry to hear you crashed! At least the sliders did what they were supposed to do. I always wear pants when riding. I started riding in jeans but have since bought motorcycle riding jeans, which are supposed to hold up better in a slide.
Just tried on some gloves I had my eyes on at the store today, to find that the slider was more of a rubber compound (TPR) and not a more plastic TPU, and it didn't seem to me that this would reliably stop the palm from grabbing the street in the case of an accident. Looking at the product info pages, some TPR sliders are advertised to protect the palm muscle rather than prevent any grabbing. Just something to be aware of if you're specifically looking for a glove that will slide.
I can see that happening depending on the size and position of the sliders. It would make sense that hard plastic transmits vibration more. If possible it is always a good idea to try on the gloves in-store so you can test the fit.
100% agree, always get gloves with palm sliders.
Definitely, what gloves do you wear?

That pinky support is worth it!. Sad experience..
Agreed!
Oh no, what happened?

My favourite is your boots 🔥
Lots of good content. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the nice comment!
Full gauntlet for me. Great video
Thanks! I like the full gauntlets more too but these Dainese gloves don't fit me well. I'll need to find another pair eventually.
I have Alpinestars SP8 gloves and I love them. Give them a try 👍
“If you’re forced to remove one go with the middle or index “😂😂😂😂😂. Good to know when I’m being tortured next
I ride euc ‘s I need the best gloves with wrist protectors, I will need to combine booth
Palm sliders on gloves always seem to give me pressure points and seem to feed in extra vibration that makes my hands go numb
