How to catch 6 PIKE in 96 MINUTES! Lure fishing 👶

- Lure fishing for pike on the lancaster canal with a 5 month old baby! Quick smash and grab ended with more pike than i've ever had in one day on the canal. The Rapala Husky Jerk was the star of the show, and has quickly become my favourite lure for targetting the smaller pike. I know it's been a while since my last pike video, i've just been giving the canals a rest for a bit while i try to get to grips with fly fishing. Feels great to be back on the lanky 🎣

Thank you very much for watching! The BRAND NEW Adventure Fishing online store is now live, I’d massively appreciate it if you could check it out! www.adventurefishinguk.com/
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Yeah I like those too the action is great
Great session. If only I had some way of knowing what kind of lure you were using...oh well 😁
😂
😂😂😂😂
Not sure but I'm guessing it's a Rapala husky jerk 🤔🤔😂😂
When Mine were that little, there was no way I was taking a rod on a walk. How times have changed, and how lucky You are to have Understanding Lady. As soon as they could hold a rod, and catch their first Pike. There was no stopping them. Both have caught Pike over 20lb's now, and loving It. Thanks for sharing. Keep 'Em Coming.
Haha I am lucky! So are your kids, I’m still searching for my first 20 pounder 👍
Fantastic job!! Love your style and I’m impressed that you had the little one with you as you fished ! Very impressive!! Look forward to seeing more from you!
Thanks for watching!
Love fishing myself, and just so you know that I subscribed to your channel only because you seem to be very nice and humble. Take care and looking forward to your next video mate.

Fished the husky jerk for years very effective on the correct day nice 1 George,
I’m not surprised, I think I’ll be fishing it for years now too. Great lure 👍
That is lucky living beside a canal full of pike , I imagine there are plenty other fish too. Good video and your little guy is adorable.
Very lucky! They come and go, the fishing can be really tough sometimes

One of those crazy fishing days, great vid
Thanks mate! Yeah I don’t get trips like that too often 👍
My daughter (7) caught her first pike a few days ago. She can't wait to go fishing again, so mission accomplished
Very happy to hear that mate!
You have a daughter that likes fishing? You one lucky guy.

Best endeavours with fly fishing..casting , retrieve .lines ..leaders...
and that small matter of the actual fishing...
Ive just about finished my fly fishing apprenticeship...started in 1974
Haha yeah fly fishing is definitely the more complicated way to fish!
Very inspiring video haven't been fishing since I moved inland despite there being loads of free river fishing on the Thames near me after seeing this I might give it a try.
Thanks for watching mate! I've heard great things about the Thames especially further inland. You should get out and have a go!
@@adventurefishinguk Thank you I will sometime.
Good work I went fishing on a river in Ireland and I caught a 2ft long pike thing was massive for that river
Great effort well done!

smashed that mate - belting video and so much action!
Thanks mate! Aye plenty of action I was so surprised, bet there'll be a big one in there somewhere
Excellent catch, well done mate.
Thanks mate!
Haha brilliant stuff George, loved it when the fella stopped to ask you what breed the trout was lol 😆 🙂. Brilliant stuff and very professionally done just to carry on doing you're piece to camera.
Great stuff mate, great night's fishing and worth a bollocking
Atb fella, Rick
Thanks for watching mate! Aye was a lovely trip out with the little one. 🎣
Awesome action! A gross but effective tip is to smear the blood on the lure, and it's a great fish attractant. Husky jerks work great here in the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair in the US, where we have lots of really fat pike that don't get very long due to warm summer temperatures. A 3 foot fish is a really big one here, but we can catch mid 20s to low 30s inch fish all day long. It's also an awesome trolling lure, run way back. Pumping motions often get them to nail it. The countdown minnow is also great for casting, and the 13cm fatter bodied X-Rap jointed shad is great for good sized fish, either cast or trolled. definitely have a go at those ones.
Thanks for the comment, really cool to hear how things are done differently over in different countries. Yeah countdowns are great, trout love them too!
Mate your content is awesome 👌 thanks
Thanks for taking the time to comment mate!
Great video we've not tried canal fishing yet. This looked fun!
It’s great fun, definitely worth doing! Thanks for watching
Subscribed, nice video and love how you walk with your child and take your rod with you to improve your day even more!
Thank you it’s much appreciated! He loves coming along for a bit of a fish on the canal 👍
@@adventurefishinguk I bet he does and will be joining you soon not very far in the future! 😁

Well done mate 🎣🎣👍
Thanks Ben 👍🎣
Great video. Will have to get myself one of those lures. Looks deadly 👌
Thanks mate, a great lure for the warmer months
I live on this stretch of canal nice to know I don't need to go far to catch
There's plenty of fish all along the canal mate!
The best lure for canal pike i found was the rap all super shad rap in natural roach finish. I used to work mine by throwing it out 10-15 ft from the bank and then i would start walking the tow path, towing the lure behind me. It always got nailed as it came in closer to the bank and not just by pike but perch as well, i heartily recommend trying it, yes i know its big but they love it. Oh i used to fish mine with a 6ft bait casting rod and reel ( the john Wilson one) loaded with braid, tight lines.
I'll have to give it a go thanks for the reccomendation!
Jack be nimble, jack be quick , jack jump in this fecking net 😂. P.S. “ Your like a sick pike !” ( Withnail & I ) 😂
I'm not quite sure what you mean!
Class short session. I wish they done your kids Patagonia suit in my size 😂 I’d use that in the winter. It’s a belter
Thanks mate! I think i'd be getting myself one too 😂
I was thinking the same 😂
One more cast before I go home for a bollocking off the Mrs 🤣🤣👍 amazing videos keep up the good work😎😎👍
Haha yeah can't push my luck too much can I! Thanks for watching
Man, wish I'd been fishing when my kids were babies! That would have been a great walk!
I’m lucky my partner allows it! Good job the baby was asleep, or he’d have been getting bored after about 15 minutes and the whole village would know about it 😂
@@adventurefishinguk and the pike 🤣
Great job! Pike are so much fun to catch!
Along the canal, do some people live on the boats year round? That would be an interesting way to live. Here in the states some people do that. I’ve caught some big Pike on the Rapala Shad Rap. Give that one a try if you haven’t used it before. They also make a jointed Shad Rap that is pretty cool.
Thanks mate! Yeah I believe quite a lot of people live on canal boats year round. Not for me I don’t think but It definitely has its merits. Not tried the lures you mentioned but I’ll look into getting a couple 🎣
Nice fishing mate, I used to use tfgear years ago not fished for a while now so thought I'd get a travel rod to get out with on my bike I just ordered the 3000 reel and the smuggler 6 rod from rigged and ready looking forward to getting back out
Thanks mate! you'll have to let me know how you get on 👍
Nothing beats fishing with us kid mine all love it wen I get a bite on I pass it to my boy to reel in now all he wants to do is fish
Can't wait for that mate!
Great session man, what net are you using there? Looks a good bit of kit, keep on rockin man 🎉
Excellent video mate.love that pike lovely looking fish..Trying lyre fishing for bass tonight nevervdone it before, hopefully get a bit of content
Thanks mate, did you manage any bass?
@AdventureFishingUK nah I didn't mate.
I went for an hour but wasn't feeling great, had head ache that kept pounding, but there is always next time
Nice one. Tight lines.
Thanks mate you too!
Wow.. I enjoyed watching
Thanks mate!
Plenty of pikes in that water, jeez. That many in 96 minutes is insane!
I know, it doesn't normally fish that well!
Hi! Great video 🎉
Thank you!
Great video!
Thank you!
You’re living the dream man
Thanks mate I appreciate that!
Great short session which couldn't get any better really especially for a Canal.
That Rapala (always been a fan) husky jerk comes in so many colours and length's even suspended but i could not find the colour that you used in this vid, well not on Amazon.
All the best.
Thanks mate! Colour was an instant success, I think it’s called fire tiger. I’ve never found Amazon to be a great place to buy lures personally! Thanks for watching 👍
@@adventurefishinguk Cheers Bud, Amazon is good for next day delivery and it's return policy i kinda know where i stand with them ; )
Your welcome, you have a great channel.
Great session mate especially on light gear. What net is that you are using I need something like that but can’t find one anywer ? Thanks
The savage gear extending nets are good for pike fishing 👍 Thanks for watching!
You got to get the rapala karbon jetty net off them bro it’s the best net I’ve ever owned and congrats on getting the well deserved recognition ….ray
Not heard of that I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
what net is it that you are using in this vid?
I actually use the larger version of these for trolling for bass at sea - Rapala and Yo Zuri lure never fail me.
Do they dive deep enough for that? I’ve heard great things about Yo Zuri too, never tried them though!
@@adventurefishingukI use one that dives to 6 metres, another to 9 metres max and the other 12 metres max. Deep Dancer is its name, some of the commercial guys use the 12 metres one if they are not live baiting; my favourite is the Yo Zuri Floating Cyrstal Minnow - but they only dive to 6 metres. Had 7lb 8oz, PB when trolling. Yo Zuri can be expensive though.
Great session, im learning about pike fishing still and every proper guide i find seems to say either float or ledger but what i see most people catching on is just lures with no weight.
I was out today with a ball weight and float and caught nothing, although i was also trying to jig the bait about a bit by reeling it in slowly.
Am i right in thinking you have nothing but the leader and the lure? Is there a name for this type of pike fishing and is there a time when you would stop doing this? E.g when it gets colder?
Just wire trace with a lure clipped on that's all you need! You can catch pike all year round doing this. Using deadbaits can be more productive when the water is really cold though as the fish are more lethargic and less likely to chase something down. In winter use bigger lures with slower presentation!
Excellent work. Went for 3hrs this morning. Not a nip 😂
That's a shame mate, all you can do is try again!
are you garstang or more lancaster way? i fish guys hamlet had a few on drop and jig but looking at new areas without the weed thats covering the canal down path. tyia tight lines
I fish all over mate!
Brilliant.
Thanks mate!
Hi love the channel, just trying to get into fishing myself I’ve bought a x5 adventure rigged and ready rod on your recommendation, just curious what braid you used on this trip?
Thanks for watching! The X5 is great, for pike I’d recommend the rigged and ready 33lb if you’re fishing somewhere snaggy, or 22lb if there aren’t many snags and you’re just using lures
@@adventurefishinguk thank you I appreciate it! Is there any lures you’d recommend in this current climate?
Been hunting for a little guide for a rod and reel set to use for walks along the canal… I’m sold on this little session 👍🏽 cheers
No problem! If you do go for it make sure you get 10% off with code AFUK10 👍 thanks for watching!
@@adventurefishinguk yeah I did, while I have you, can you guide me somewhere for that net you were using, like the rod set up I don’t want to be taking my large carp one out for a walk 😂
@@tristianmadgwick3923 I think it may be discontinued, the savage gear folding ones are a good choice though
I have caught 9 pike in six minutes on monkland canal on savage gear foreplay br all similar size to your fish was out yesterday with big rods and blanked first time out for pike since 2nd January..
9 pike in six minutes that must have been madness! Thanks for watching
Mate you have got to get yourself up to Skeggles water. Find kentmere tarn on a map look right and its that small mountain tarn parallel to kentmere tarn. Big perch, jack pike everywhere. Its literally a big puddle filled with predators.
Sounds like a great water thanks mate I’ll check it out, are you positive there’s pike? If so, could be the highest altitude pike in England
Nice video and well done on such a short session. Do you take the barbs off your lures. I only ask as I'm new to pike fishing on canals and every bit of advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks mate! I take the barbs off my trout lures yeah, and any pike deadbait gear, but not normally for pike lures. Just make sure your line is braid and strong enough with a wire trace 👍
Complete newbie to fish type of fishing, always been a float fisher for carp/silver etc.
Can I ask how you know when you have a bite? And also, what is that net please?
If you get a bite you'll know! I think this was rigged and ready or savage gear
I have the same color husky jerk 14cm and it seems to be the best of all my rapalas for perch here in Finland. Best when you jerk it really hard so it really flashes and rattles. I have only gotten small pikes on it so far. It doesn't seem to be so effective for big pike. Unlike the Super Shad rap 14cm in perch color, that seems to bring big Nordhern pikes nearly every time. The shape of the lure seems to play a big roll. It really needs to like like the prey the fishes hunt.
Me too actually, mostly only small fish. I've never tried a bigger size though so that might help pick out a bit of a better fish!
Hi, great video. I've been sea fishing for a few years but looking to try and catch some pike I'm the scottish lochs. I've just bought a 14g lure, would u just attach a swivel and the lure or would you add weight to that?
Oh and it's the rapala x rap peto lure I have just bought
Id tie the line to a wire trace then just use that unless the water is really deep. Then you can use a little clip on weight. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
That's a great lure, good choice
Great video mate, what's the landing net your using?
Thanks mate! I think this one is the rigged and ready travel net max, can get 10% off too with code AFUK10
nice pike that mate, well done, hope the bollockin wasn't too heavy off the Mrs 😉
Thanks mate! I got away with it this time 😂
Great video, took my son Lancaster Canal yesterday hoping to catch his 1st pike. Unfortunately blanked but will be back at it soon , definitely with a Rapala! What stretch of the canal do you advise? We started at Hest bank and walked towards Lancaster
The canal can be hard! I normally find it's best between lancaster and preston. Thanks for watching!
Up in preston its harder, the fish know the lures due to the amount who fish there leave preston and its way easier
Great video. Just wondering what you think of Penn spinning reels for pike?
I’ve not used them for freshwater fishing but I can’t see why they wouldn’t work. Maybe a little on the heavy duty side!
@@adventurefishinguk Thanks buddy.
My friend, it's a nice video, congratulations... can you tell me where exactly you caught these?
Thank you! I can't sorry I don't give exact locations on youtube. There's fish all over the canal
Do you need wire to stop pike snapping line?
Yes you do 👍
Would this be the type lure you would use this time of year George?
It certainly would mate yes!
Think the cat thought you had a mouse on early in the video 🤣
😂
I think it did too 😂 had to be very careful it didn’t go for it. Wouldn’t leave me along haha
A great day, HAH!!!
Thanks for watching!
Hi mate use to take my little along with me. Can you add a UK link for that exact lure please . Majority of ones on ebay are different sizes and from overseas with very high postage.
I'm sorry mate I don't have a link to hand! Ringing around tackle shops might be a good idea
Can you tell me or give a link to that landing net you're using... Cheers pal... Nice video BTW. 👍

Thanks for watching too by the way, much appreciated!
Ahh, we just love fishing around densely populated areas. Just amazing, especially when they ask if you have a fishing license, where you're from and act like they're interested 😒
Haha true!
bought one and fished it a couple of time recently and not a sniff. Just hoping the Northern lights one i bought off your website does better lol....I must be doing something wrong as ive STILL NOT CAUGHT a pike
Have you caught one yet on the northern lights perch?
@@adventurefishinguk I've not used it yet due to extreme hot weather and water temp high on canal. I've just been catching perch on micro jigs and not many of them lol. I'm still trying to find pike on canal as not seen any caught only on your older videos. Any ideas where to try when weather cools a bit ?
@@adventurefishinguk Update.....Went out today as weather temp had dropped AND GUESS WHAT ????? Yes 4th cast on canal with the NORTHERN LIGHTS PERCH lure from your shop and a nice little jack pike...SO IT WORKED FOR ME....better than the Husky Jerk for me...also had a pike follow it in but wouldnt go for it
....THANKS BUDDY

I forget pike are harder to catch over there. In 🇨🇦 6 pike in 6 casts is possible, right place and right time. Good stuff though, you got it done.
Thanks mate! Yeah unfortunately we aren’t blessed with the same fishing as the Canadians. A small island with a lot of people can make it tough!

Well done mate! What lure did you get it on?
@@adventurefishinguk 2 n half inch diving crank bait. I was there going for chub on the bread. Thdn i saw the pike sitting in a slack. So switch over to the lure and banged a wire trace on. It took it 2nd cast.

First time fishing for pike today myself ever (carp fisherman) and went with the mrs! And swear after about 4 hours I hooked into one about 3lb and knocked it off at the net 😂 can you recommend any lures for the summertime or is it like different colour for winter summer ? Like baits for carp ?
Great video btw
Unlucky mate, happens to the best of us! For the summertime its more about presentation that colour. Topwater lures work well in the summer, i'd recommend having a go with the savage gear topwater snake in its smaller size. Great lure and you'll have some good fun with it!
