Hi there, I have a Movado wrist watch which is almost 80 years old. My late dad bought this watch from a friend of his in 1945. This watch is still original condition and running, keeping time. Never been opened for service. The serial numbers are as follows. C 481780 and 14788. Should you be interested to buy it, it is up for sale. Regards James
Crazy didn’t know Movado watches were produced in 1966 which is the year I was born. My dad got me one to wear for my wedding in 1999. Before that he and my mom got me a Tag Haeur from Switzerland when they were in vacation in Europe. He just passed away this May my mom passed 2 days before xmas 2023. Thanks mom and dad I miss you immensely.
Wow! Thank you so much for providing this information and links to the identification charts. I picked up a 28 jewel Kingmatic Sub Sea, with issues, from an antique fair around March of this year. I just received it after being serviced and it runs and operates perfectly now. What a beauty. With your information, I was able to identify this as a reference 55291 (gold filled with stainless case back) with the caliber 538. Once the information was explained by you, it was easy to cross-reference. However, no production date is referenced for that specific movement. Just above this listing, there's a reference for the 531 (536) with production years from 1960 to 1967. After further research, it appears the 538 shares DNA with the 531 and 536 movements, the 538 being the automatic with a quick set date. Based on the reference number, this would have been manufactured as early as 1960 but prior to 1966, when the new numbering system was implemented, correct? The inside case back has a three digit (serial?)number just above the reference, # 188, rather than a longer alpha numeric serial number featured on the chronograph in your video. Would this help to identify the specific year the watch was manufactured?
Wonderful video. I have an old movado sport with sub seconds at 6 position that looks from the late 40s. Ref number 18136. According to the table is either a cal 125,127 or 128. Unfortunately all say 17 jewels where as in the watch it is clearly engraved 15 jewels.

I scoured your site and loved both the site and this video. I've used it on many of my Movado watches. But I kind of had the same issue as your sample watch from Eric. I'd love to know how old my 95M is, but the range is too wide. Mine has a serial number of A101891, and a model number of 19039. I saw a catalog page online showing the 19039 as being steel and 18k, and the watch is indeed steel and rose gold. It has an arrow head dial, with the kris (snake) sub hands. It also has a tachymeter on the outer edge of the dial, so it differs from all the others I've seen online that have arrow head dials because there's no room for a "6" marker. Any thoughts on age?

127 and 128 does have center second hand, cant be yours.
