It's funny, before I joined your discord and learnt I know nothing about the game despite 2000 hours played I LOVED psionics, was all I played. But in trying to get good enough to play with you guys I learnt Hive Mind build and now bio feels so weird I can't go back xD
I recently tried out an old hive build again. Early/mid went great. Was able to deal with a neighboring fanpur, dealt with marauders early. However, late game I really felt a hard ceiling and started falling behind.

You might want to try out Catalytic Prozessors, its SSS Tier on Hives where you most likely go Genetics. If you turn a conquered Empire into nervestabled tasty Lifestock, you can easily fund a dozen Forgeworlds.
wait, if you look how he plays, it pretty much doesn't matter how you play. Using tactics that "shouldn't be allowed" cuz they push you so much further as it should - buildung up unity to pretty much directly jump up a whole tradition tree - Using military forces for exploration with the crystal tactics (on/off to not waste them) - queing destroyers to not have the upkeep - in that regard also abusing the AI that can not forsee this huge military force These things just make your game unnecessary harder / more micromanagy which for me is no fun. Its also the reason why so few people play online, because if you don't play like that you lose. Kind of shoveling your own grave here. Better play as you like and adjust the difficulty. For multiplayer i heard there are some roleplay servers/hosts.
@@derjadebaum9159 multiplayer definitely requires optimal play to succeed :) but as someone who played 2000 hours before trying multiplayer I'll say whooping the AI simply does not compare to the thrill of playing against real humans. Man it's such a rush. Such a rush I can't do it as much as I'd like to cuz, well, I like it to much and get obsessed and start slacking on my university studies lol. So now I just watch every time there's a tournament and maaaaaybe play if there's a tournament during my time off
This is one of your better videos. I like that you made it a bit longer, but not too long, to explain the methodology and micro. I have a few friends I want to get playing, but the game is hard for them and I have trouble explaining species build -> execution. A video like this really helps teach that.
I just "recently" (just 100 hours) started playing Stellaris and loved Psionics from day1, tho I always preferred to go covenant-less, because of both lore and feeling that something is up and it would hurt my Empire in the long run. Very interesting to see how much covenant really helps on both Entropy stream and in this video! Thanks for the guide!
Those SWTOR trailers were better than game!!! I was early-access. What a nightmare. My guild had 300 members in it. By the end of January there just 12 active accounts left and almost everyone had abandoned the game. I left the last because, well, I'd paid for it. Anyway, I went back a few years later and the game had gone from nearly 100 US over-loaded servers in December to 2 fairly empty servers a couple of years later. I played another month and have never been back.
Honestly, watching how much your skill at this game has improved over the last 3 years and is pretty sweet. A lot of questionable assertions back then, but these days your optimization and theory crafting is top notch. Quite the amazing video here, liked it very much.
Rlly? It took KomradTruck to convince him and explain why Masterful Crafters was broken, he also slept on Catalytic Processing for years until it was boosted in stratosphere with Galactic Paragons, not mentioning even in this video he is still comparing Pearl Divers to CG producers instead of Technicians. He missed Ascensionist build alltogether and doesn't seem like he was on latest trend of heavy unity builds, that were started on PDX forum. For me as theory crafter he seems to only touch the bare basics of optimization. Definetely would say he stopped improving same time ago in comparison to how much SP "meta" still evolves on PDX forum/reddit.
Sure, but look at the growth from some of those older videos to this one today. That’s impressive, the improvement is real in his analysis and gameplay. When first came across his channel like 4 years ago or so all the vids were highly questionable. But this one is an excellent vid that showcases his improvements as a player, as a theory crafter, as a presenter of information, etc. This kind of growth should be applauded, I think this might be his best video yet and given the trend I expect em to keep getting better, more focused, and even more on point.
The most impressive thing in this video is honestly the number of habitable worlds considering the galaxy size of 400 and habitable worlds at x1 on your game settings. I don't think I have seen that many spawn so close together in a long time. On the other hand, I do seem to get ruined dyson spheres near my capitol fairly often so I guess everyones rng is different.
Now I realize why I keep losing and or not being able to play tall. It's just the fact that I don't understand how migration and the planet system work and I basicaly just brute-force it by mass spaming colonies and hoping it balances out by the end of it.
I feel like having tech and tradition costs be at 0.75x is kinda cheating when you are trying to achieve a specific goal by specific date. Cuz you naturally have to do less work to get there
yeah i found that weird too. (I mean, I get its for MP) I often play with larger tech costs, it makes the game COMPLETELY different in terms of decisions, especially perks etc
.75x has long been the default that many multiplayer games use. Whether that's good or not it has become the default setting for many content creators(and I imagine the same for many other players) since they often participate in those events.
What robguy said. .75 is the standard for competitive multiplayer so that people can finish a whole play through in a reasonable amount of time. It’s the go to standard for most experienced players at this point. Playing on 1.0 settings is really just for RP single player when one doesn’t mind the run taking a whole week.

Been enjoying a clone army origin psionic ascension playthrough. Took meritocracy/parliamentary system with spiritualist, egalitarian, militarist. You can blitz through the traditions and get mind over matter and get the psionic tech from the agenda fairly quickly. Combined with clone ascendant it's pretty insane.
Jesus Christ the level of min maxing in this run is insane. Using those rare crystals to get some more vision is honestly genius. He is literally doing every thing at the most optimal.
It is an okay guide. Montu IF you say "EVERY CLICK GUIDE" then MAYBE tell us what kind of districs we are building and what kind of specialisation our colonies are suppose to have...... or just don't call it an every click guide
I think it'd be really cool if you and Aspec ran a game, each of you play as tall empires forming coalitions with your fan-empires, and either declare a massive war if you two have at-odds empires, or work together against an all 25× crisis

I love playing pscionic spiritualists builds for the flavour when interacting with the shroud. I hope they do a dlc that expands upon each of the ascension paths or maybe a fallen empire dlc that heavily involves the shroud with the spiritualist fallen empire?

I get that .75x tech cost is usually played in MP, but it still is a bit weird when making claims "in 50 years" when its not on the default setting. It scews stuff
Probably still able to be accomplished on the first 50 years on base settings (.75 really has become the standard for experienced players, so calling it base here). Almost everything one can do on .75 in 50 years is also doable on 50 years on 1.0 with maximal optimization play patterns.

Even before this update most things are doable. What isn’t doable is ALL the optimizations on 1.0. You tend to have to sacrifice 1 element to keep the rush for 5 or 6 elements possible. Tech or unity generally isn’t much of a gate, and even in situations like this where you need a good deal of both 2060 on 1.0 would be about the latest this stuff should be coming online. Usually the folks who have difficulty with maximizing optimization in the first place are the ones who have difficulty hitting these thresholds. The difference between 1.0 and .75 is a lot smaller than people realize at maximum optimization levels, but it’s mostly the Uber competitive crowd that feels this way.

I played this build before the entropy event, i played it differently tho, i found this build is really nice for pre contact war becausd you get crystal sensor to find victims and pearl divers allow you to spec capital into alloy for early ptoduction, sweet. Ps: However if you do this, empire size kills your progression, staying small and focus ascension is probably better

for powered exoskeletons I usually take it and then ban ai workers (if that is what I am going for). I thought the ban blocks techs from this path from spawning, based on my own tests, but taking powered exoskeletons is nice for the resource boost on it's own.
What cruiser load out would you recommend? Full M slot disruptors with a picket computer? Or have a double S slot stern? Or swap to those all round cruisers (ARC) from your cruiser guide a few months ago?

Stellaris seems harder than before, like I haven't played in like 3 months but I've never seen an aquatic species struggle economically early game, especially being played by MONTU of all people, which is crazy to me, even considering its a rush build.
In the wiki they have eliminated the things that being a materialist has penalties, it no longer even says that a fanatical materialist eliminates the possibilities. Have they made it so that fanatical materialists can be psionics without depending on luck or racking their brains?
How is he spending all his unity launching those agendas early but somehow still being able to level up his traditions? When I launch an agenda early, it deducts that unity cost from my total unity so if I had 12 months left to unlock a tradition, suddenly it would increase to 18 months or whatever.
so, quick question. What would be your pick for the last 2 Ascension Perks for this build? I have Tech Ascendancy, Imperial Perogative, One Vision, Force Projection and Voidborne.
I really really dislike the developers forcing negative traits with such increased frequency. I run a script nearly every occurrence which clears all leaders of negative traits. They really are forced now and even with all appropriate traits, traditions, and whatnot, you will continually get them. Its even sillier when it happens on gestalt leaders
Just curious, do you think there would be a benefit of forcing an ethics switch to materialist shortly after starting? Whispers of the void really likes materialists, and having droids would probably help eventually. Even if they cost alloys.
Are you playing with mods? I seem to be missing some of the things you're doing. I can't manually select leader traits and don't have a council. To my knowledge the only expansion I'm missing is toxoids. I'm planning to use budding in place of incubators.
Hello @MontuPlays, i've got a problem with this build. Every time when i change my gouvernment type (~Minut 25:00), only two of my council seats are refillable. The other ones are locked, locks are grey(not change to "yellow lock")and cannot be unlocked by clicking on the button. Tool-Tip ahows that i have to redo the agenda "Expand the Council"... Is this a bug and i have to restart or is it "repeareable"? Or is it a new feature? @MontuPlays
Egalitarian, huh? I see where you're going with faction unity and unemployed utopia pops, but those civics taken as a group disfavor every entity except the Eater - you got lucky with the Composer and/or the Zroni. Instead, I would consider this setup: Megacorp, Authoritarian, Fanatic Spiritualist, Fishing Trawlers, Catalytic Processing, with Corporate Hedonism as your third civic. You will make SO MUCH TRADE, especially once you appoint your Shroudwalker Teacher as Chief Marine Officer. With Mercantile traditions (take that first, statecraft can wait even if it means slower agendas and weaker leaders), a quarter of your trade will convert to unity. The energy you generate from trade - and later from branch offices in your vassals - will let you buy any deficiency in consumer goods. And once you reach the Shroud, the Instrument of Desire awaits you with even more trade value. Psionics are still OP either way.

This is my Go to space elves build. Have been using this for half a year+. Although sometimes I go with Catalytic first.
Switching from parliamentary to catalytic lets you get the best of both worlds really! Unless you plan on going straight for alloys year 1

Psi has been meta since the psi and leader rework. The only down side to it is a bit of randomness, but once you get going, you just go.

I just tried to do a unity rush because i didn‘t understand anything else but liked the death temples and temple traits for my starting species

for powered exoskeletons I usually take it and then ban ai workers (if that is what I am going for). I thought the ban blocks techs from this path from spawning, based on my own tests, but taking powered exoskeletons is nice for the resource boost on it's own.

What cruiser load out would you recommend? Full M slot disruptors with a picket computer? Or have a double S slot stern?
Or swap to those all round cruisers (ARC) from your cruiser guide a few months ago?

I'm struggling a bit to follow a lot of this, as I'm quite knew, and not all that bright. Can you recommend a written guide on this somewhere? Or even a general guide thats easy to digest?
Stellaris seems harder than before, like I haven't played in like 3 months but I've never seen an aquatic species struggle economically early game, especially being played by MONTU of all people, which is crazy to me, even considering its a rush build.

In the wiki they have eliminated the things that being a materialist has penalties, it no longer even says that a fanatical materialist eliminates the possibilities. Have they made it so that fanatical materialists can be psionics without depending on luck or racking their brains?
How is he spending all his unity launching those agendas early but somehow still being able to level up his traditions? When I launch an agenda early, it deducts that unity cost from my total unity so if I had 12 months left to unlock a tradition, suddenly it would increase to 18 months or whatever.
so, quick question. What would be your pick for the last 2 Ascension Perks for this build? I have Tech Ascendancy, Imperial Perogative, One Vision, Force Projection and Voidborne.

I really really dislike the developers forcing negative traits with such increased frequency. I run a script nearly every occurrence which clears all leaders of negative traits. They really are forced now and even with all appropriate traits, traditions, and whatnot, you will continually get them. Its even sillier when it happens on gestalt leaders
Damn, i dont have it in me to sweat this much in the first year but i wonder how this build will age, Machine Age or what not.

Just curious, do you think there would be a benefit of forcing an ethics switch to materialist shortly after starting? Whispers of the void really likes materialists, and having droids would probably help eventually. Even if they cost alloys.

What do you typically do with your starbases? There are 5 new non-shipyards by 2222 but we never saw what was on them. Just the food module?

Are you playing with mods? I seem to be missing some of the things you're doing. I can't manually select leader traits and don't have a council. To my knowledge the only expansion I'm missing is toxoids. I'm planning to use budding in place of incubators.

i've got a problem with this build.
Every time when i change my gouvernment type (~Minut 25:00), only two of my council seats are refillable.
The other ones are locked, locks are grey(not change to "yellow lock")and cannot be unlocked by clicking on the button.
Tool-Tip ahows that i have to redo the agenda "Expand the Council"...
Is this a bug and i have to restart or is it "repeareable"?
Or is it a new feature?

Egalitarian, huh? I see where you're going with faction unity and unemployed utopia pops, but those civics taken as a group disfavor every entity except the Eater - you got lucky with the Composer and/or the Zroni. Instead, I would consider this setup:
Megacorp, Authoritarian, Fanatic Spiritualist, Fishing Trawlers, Catalytic Processing, with Corporate Hedonism as your third civic.
You will make SO MUCH TRADE, especially once you appoint your Shroudwalker Teacher as Chief Marine Officer. With Mercantile traditions (take that first, statecraft can wait even if it means slower agendas and weaker leaders), a quarter of your trade will convert to unity. The energy you generate from trade - and later from branch offices in your vassals - will let you buy any deficiency in consumer goods. And once you reach the Shroud, the Instrument of Desire awaits you with even more trade value.
Psionics are still OP either way.
