  • Earlier today I had a more detailed play around with FT8CN. This program can be run on almost any Android device. Although you'll be pushed to see the program image on a Android watch, or a small android mobile phone. It is was very easy to setup via my Yaesu FT897D. Lucky for me, I already had the CAT cable at hand. However where I disconnected the original CAT cable to the ATU. I then had to step in with a rather dated MFJ ATU. But I must admit the MFJ is now 30 years old but still runs extremally well.
So after tunning my antenna I got to work on using the FT8 software. Using my Samsung tablet. Everything worked well at first, I even got a copy with a station out in Panama South America. And that was pushing only 7 watts, straight from the 897.
The only downside to the whole operation was the fact that every 15 minutes or so. I would be prompted to clean the program cache. Or the program would shut down, and restart again from scratch.
I do believe there is an answer to the cache cleaning issue, but im yet to find it.
I would recommend this neat little program to anyone, interested in low-power TX and RX.
I will leave a shortcut below to the direct download site look for the address down the webpage FT8CN_0.92_20240122.apk

Hi Pedro, sorry for the delay in replying to you, I've been very busy this end. In answer to your question Pedro. I believe it means 'Decode' 'Interface' 'Call' DIC if I find out any different I will get back to you.
