One of the easiest ways to get a your foundation amateur Radio licence is to use Essex hams's free online training course. When I studied for my foundation licence, I used Essex hams course utilities, and found it all amazingly helpful. essexhams course teaches you all you need to know, with videos, printable revision aids and loads of quizzes. An odd noise on the lower bands
Some time back I recorded this unusual sound down on the lower bands. On a search I could not find who would be responsible for this transmission. I wonder if it is not some kind of frequency jamming .

Moscow station transmitting in the early hours of the morning.

Earlier this week I was listening to the 20 Metre band and I came across this guy transmitting out of Moscow, Russia. His signal was pleasantly clear throughout, although when I tried to return a call to him @ 50 watts he could not hear me.

Back in the day, music players where rife all over the channels. Sadly it seems to be a pastime with some pirates. These two licenced operators I was listening to down at my home QTH and then suddenly the music player cranked up.

This weekend, various stations in the UK are running a Men's Mental Health Awareness, special events stations. Here is a short snippet and propagation being very good this weekend, many stations where returning CQs.

This 11/06/2024 @ 19.00 evening I came across Victor calling DX on 14.244 Mhz. While running 50 watts I managed to get across to him at @ S 9 and R5 and Victor coming across to me @ S9 and R5 Victors station was unbelievably clear for the conditions.

Numbers Station

While I was tunning through the bands I came across this, what I believe to be a numbers station. To me it sounds German, however I am not 100% Have a listen. Sadly it was the tail end of the transmission, so I did not receive it in its entirety.

while scanning through the low power devices frequencies. I discovered this constant bleep. Although you can't hear the actual beep to well. However towards the end of the upload I have run the yaesu on its own without the Quansheng handheld. You should be able to hear the bleep. While scanning through the HF bands I discovered this strange signal. It's not one that I have ever heard on this band before. This signal was recorded at 0300 on the 31st March 2024

Russian pirate radio station on military band.

On Tuesday night the 26th March at approx 20.00 I picked up this Russian radio pirate playing Russian folk songs. On the military frequency of 252. 200 Mhz. On investigation I discovered that this particular frequency is used by and not limited too the 121st FS DC ANG Joint Base Andrews USA. I wonder if the foolish pirate is aware of this fact.

At 1725 today, 30th March 24 I picked up the Muslim call to prayer. Being transmitted from the Masjid Al Noor, Portsmouth, Hampshire. The frequency of transmission is 454.793.75 Mhz. Apologies for the voice being quite back of the box. Although the mosque is only some 7 miles away from me, as the crow flies 🐦⬛🐦⬛🐦⬛

At 19:45 I was scanning through the old satellite frequencies and found more Brazilian operators pirating the sat for personal use.

Sounds like some type of RTTY, not sure what your hearing??
pretty sure that is a harmonic delay due to your range from the two sources broadcasting at the same time. ehh. i should read others comments before posting. :) cheers. most effective modern frequency jammers sweep much much faster and in a digital sounding pattern to cause more noise. this could be used for range finding with the right equipment.
It could be related to image stations shenanigans. To me it sounds like what you get if two sounds of slightly different frequencies are playing at the same time. It could be a harmonic from two stations trying to output the same signal but which have drifted apart slightly in frequency

Have this also sometimes on lpd channels in the Netherlands, can't really tell if there is a pattern in time of day etc.
That is a sode frequency of a telemetry beacon that works somewhere at 400-430mhz. Some agriculture machinery can produce this to repirt pisitioning

Tom, sorry for the delay in replying to you. I've been busy at work this end. To answer your question\, if you still require the answer is that, in your part of the world you are 5 hours behind the United Kingdom. I received this transmission about 1 A/M here, which would be 20:00 state side.
I'm in Pennsylvania USA and I've also heard this noise.

@@DL-kc8fc Thanks DL I have heard a few more interesting transmission on SW but in all honesty they are probably old hat to a lot of listeners and radio amateurs.
I was mobile once and had a similar experience, turned out to be an electric fence pulse.
Hi Andrew thanks for your feedback I can rule out the fence part. I believe it could be something to do with the navy. I have them almost on my doorstep, but then why would they choose that frequency?
