Excellent video. I prepped my bike 2 nights ago using your disassembly instructions. The next day I was able to install the new slip on’s in 2 hours (again thanks to you) once the UPS guy dropped off my new system. Appointment scheduled for this Saturday to have the up map loaded at dealer. Sounds incredible!!!!
Great vid! I bought a full Akro for my 959. It's used so the titanium pipes were looking really bad. I decided to ditch the pipes and just go with the slip ons instead. Besides, I polished the factory pipes so they look amazing. I haven't gotten around to install yet. I wanted to see a video of the process. This really helped. Thank you!
Yeah, the full system never made sense to me being that the pipe diameter is the same as stock. It does save a few pounds weight but I think it’s negligible in terms of performance gained from weight savings.
@@bikesandbeats4693 precisely. And I'm not building a track bike so weight reduction is not the purpose here. I have added a few carbon fiber parts for the aesthetics. I'm hoping to sell the 959 in a few months so I can buy a V4S.
@@bikesandbeats4693exactly, doesn't make sense. You got rid of all the crap you don't need. Stock muffler, catalytic converter and servo. You're probably right, it'd just be weight savings..
Hi there, nice video!! Question I’m buying a pair of used Termis for my 959 but they don’t seem to come with any hardware (used cans) can I use any of the stock hardware? Looks like the cans already have the hangers pre installed and only come with the y pipe adapter. Thank you!
charlie ryan Thanks for watching and subbing. I’m trying to do videos for as much as I can on this bike because there really isn’t a lot of these types of videos available for this bike.
Where did you get your Akrapovic Slip-On for the 959? I’ve found a few but they are 5K; I’ve found the Termignoni for about 2K. I like the look of the Akrapovic. Thanks!!
Got it on eBay from a Ducati dealership as an open box model. They had it as the display case model in their parts department. I paid about $2,050 after tax.
Nice video... I'm trying to install som akrapovic cans on my 1299, and running into that problem of the flanges not mating up (touch at top but about 2degrees angle between them) my Ypipe is not separate so can't clamp first. About 5hrs in and still brainstorming. Tried to not put bolts in, also removed rear hanger, no luck minimizing that separation :-( The quest continues.
awesome video. is the aftermarket exhaust truly worth it for the price? i mean on video from the research I've done its hard to tell a difference in sound. and what made you choose this over the cheaper arrow exhaust that has the same look?
I think it’s definitely overpriced for what it is. It’s very high quality and Ducati approved to not void your warranty. But i think it should be cheaper. As for the arrow, I don’t like how it looks. I think the Akra gives a better finished look.
hec feliciano The Termi adapter doesn’t mount to the 959 header. I was gonna modify the adapter to make it fit, but termi doesn’t sell the adapter separately in case I damaged it. So I didn’t mess with it.
Oh ok gotcha.. Sounds good either way.. but i like Termi just bc everyone u see with a Duc got the Akra Exhaust.. just like to be different.. plus i like the Termi sound better.. but its all personal preference
hec feliciano Yeah, I think a lot of people not feeling the Termi for this bike because of the front exit design. That’s why I personally didn’t like it and why I tried to get the old rear exit model to work. The old one will work if you do the full 1199 system, which comes with the header pipe needed to fit the mufflers. But I didn’t want to pay full system price or do all the work. I wasn’t paying $5k for an exhaust.
mate how long it took you to install the slip on in hours of labor, mind me asking got a V4 and slip on pipes at the shop just so I know they are not overcharging
Are you in Europe? If so, I believe the process is the exact same but you would also need to purchase the US spec lower fairings, which would add a lot to the cost. Or you could probably just cut yours to fit the mufflers.
HELL YEAH! The Akrapovic exhaust alone is over $2700 for the slip on and nearly $5000 for the full. Plus you will save money by not having to do the break in service. As long as the bike is clean I’d go for it.
This one is for $1299 so the upmap won’t work but the mufflers still fit. It’s $2800 and you can make an offer for lower. www.ebay.com/itm/254456167981
Hi Sir, I'm going to get a ducati 1199 myself. I was wondering I'm 5 feet 6 inches tall (170cm). Just wondering if you are able to reach both feet on the ground? And also what is your height if i may?
Hey can you give me your stock exhaust if your not using I’m from India and I’m finding very difficult to find one after I damaged my exhaust please can we give me that stock exhaust
only thing special about the termi is the name, really no difference than the akro..... the piece you needed to fit the 1299/1199/899 termi is the link y pipe which is able to be purchased separately online. If the link was purchased no modifications would need to be done....
I bought that link y pipe, part number D155Y2. It doesn’t fit. It’s a completely different size. The only way to fit the termis is to change the whole exhaust. I have a video coming that explains everything.

Mainly just cost and cool looks from the blue pipes. Don’t think theirs any performance increase at all since the 959 stock headers flow extremely well.
In person it’s a big difference. It’s the same character of sound but this is much louder and meaner than stock. The camera doesn’t pick it up that well.
@@bikesandbeats4693 I was watching your other vids. Does that brentune leave the servo open? Do you run a different filter? Power feeling night and day?Sorry for all the questions. We have the same bike and I wanna start ordering parts.
The servo still operates like stock with the tune. But they can clear the error if you remove it. I still have the same stock filter. I’ll get a sprint once I replace the stock one. Awesome and inspirational video!
Looks like the most difficult part was getting the cans hooked up to the header adapter. Good video!
Yeah. Things are a little easier with a second set of hands. Overall it’s not a bad job if you have patience.
Thanks for recording this video with an actually good microphone. So many cell phone audio quality recordings of Ducati’s out there lol
Even with the good mic, it doesn’t compare to how it sounds in person. Something about the sound of Ducati’s that never sounds impressive on video.
Looks good bro. 5 hrs of labor! And that's with all those tools lol. All I have is a basic tool set. It'll probably take me forever
If I had to do it again I could do it in about 2 hours, maybe less now that I know the tricks. Thanks for watching.
This video was very helpful thanks… getting that clamp on is a major pain in the arse. Took me a solid 4hrs, next time Ill pay someone. cheers

It’s the same process for the 1299 as the 959. It is a bitch to get the mufflers lined up to the y-pipe. Keep at it.

How loud is with the D.B. Killer? What if you put it back on? Might sound deep right?
It’s pretty loud. Not technically street legal. With the db killers installed it’s only a little quieter but still sounds basically the same.
So did you end up going to the dealership for the UpMap? After installing the after market did it give u any error code on the gauge?

Just curious why you didn’t do the termignoni front exit exhaust? You mentioned the 899 termignoni exhaust but the front exit is made for the 959/1299
Don’t like the look of it.
Bikes and Beats completely understandable. Hope you’re still enjoying the 959

do u still have the original SILENCER? want to sell it to me ?
How do you feel about having old gen liter bike power of 150ish hp? Do you ever feel like you want new gen liter power of 190+ hp?
Not at all, at least not yet. This is only my second riding season. So coming from a Monster 821 to this, it’s plenty of power for me.
It’s not really a liter bike so idk why anyone would expect 190 plus. The 1199 is 170 to the wheels.

6mm hex
