Awesome vid! Have the machine and have exactly the problems you mentioned. Will probably swap with a bezzera elise.

just to confirm - the pressure release valve you installed is attached ONLY to the water line that goes to the group head, correct? i.e. the your wand still has 14 bars of pressure (?)
also looking for where i can find this part (my oscar 2 is being shipped right now) - would a valve for a silvia work in this situation?

This video is just posted to be helpful, with a fix for a issue with a product, it is an honest opinion about a brand i like, but a model that falls short on producing a good result.

They have now released the "Professional Pack" version which is a little more expensive but includes the commercial OPV and Pressurestat that everyone's been installing themselves.... so they've kinda listened -- same with their next model up

Alternative Brewing has the "Professional" one for $420 more than the "Standard" one! Oyuch!

Wow, thanks for the info, I was actually thinking of buying the same machine in the coming weeks but after watching this video I now have serious doubts . Any other similarly priced machine with heat exchanger you recommend?

Apparently the Nuova Simonelli Musica has a the valve fitted as standard. Lots of good Italian machines out there like ECM, Rocket, lelit, The Oscar is good too, solid construction just needs the missing part fitted !!

Thanks for the information. Today my machine has stopped pumping water, instead steam is coming out of the group head. Not sure what causes this. If you have an idea please let me know 🙏

I am a newbie to espresso at home and I have a stupid question to ask. I am using an entry level EC680 with a pump that produce maximum pressure of 15bar. I wonder if the coffee puck itself can serve as a restrictor and lower the pressure when water get into the coffee puck. My thinking is even the pump create 15 bar pressure, how fine/coarse the coffee is controlling how much water going through and at what rate. As a result, the water pressure will down to around 9 bar and we are considered to be brewing at 9 bar. I tried to research if there is an opv in my EC680 to release the excess pressure created by the pump but no result so far....
As I am considering to upgrade my espresso machine to a heat exchanger, grateful if you can share your insight with me.

Im not familiar with the Delongi that you have, I have seen many basic machines place a restrictor in the basket or in the handle ( portafilter) to slow the flow, not the correct way in my opinion. Commercial machines and good domestic machines have baskets with no restrictions in the basket, and no restrictions in the handle, check a picture of a commercial basket and handle they are straight thru.
Now trying to control the flow of the shot by adjusting the grind will work to some extend, however if you have 12bar of pressure then adjusting the grind to super fine ( powder) wouldn't taste good. Correct machine pressure has to be the starting point. 8.5 to 9 bar. Otherwise you over saturate the grinds and you end up with a percolated coffee not espresso. Hope that helps. Look for a machine w a commercial size group handle and preferably a commercial brand.

      For similar price range,,,
Expobar Office Control or Office Pulser,
      La Nuova Era Cuadra ii,
      Bezzera BZ10,
      can all be interesting choices.
I'm currently in the market for premium home machine doing some research. 😅

    Hi
Really you made a great job .. I have two questions please..
Q1\ I have Oscar2 since 4 years ago.. but Last weeks I feel steam wand is bubbling the milk not frothing I tried with my brother new oscar2 and it was perfect with his oscar2.. I clean mine with backflush by (cafetto espresso desccaler) but still no change
Q2\ Will I get any improvement in general if I install (Sirai pressure stat)?
    Thanks alot

    • @NANA-gy7yx
      @NANA-gy7yx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

A1: Descale your boiler ... backflushing is only for cleaning the grouphead. Descaling is easy since oscar has a draining valve. If that doesn't fix it, it means you need to increase the boiler pressure from your pressurestat. but this will mean increasing your brewing temperature.
A2: I believe installing an OPV and a Sirai pressurestat is a great upgrade and you will notice a big difference.

The valve is a Fluid o tech OPV valve. Should be able to order it from the supplier of your machine

Hi So true about this machine. I was able to check the pressure on mine and it was around 12 bars. I installed an OPV from Elektro's and dialed it down to 9 and then to 8 bars.
I have read up on modifying the flow of the Oscar II with a Synesso ruby flow restrictor/gigler at the solenoid valve, removing the 0.7mm gigler from pump (07300860), installing a 3.2mm gigler on a hot side of the group, and relocating the original hot side gigler 3mm (07300225) to the cold side of the group. Have you tried this yet?
I got a Synesso ruby and a 3.2mm gigler and then opened my Oscar 2. I installed the ruby in the solenoid valve just before the group head. Then I tried to replace the 3.0mm gigler behind the grouphead but the nuts on the copper pipes are stuck. Same with the 0.7mm gigler at the pump. I assume there may be calcium build up. Any suggestions? Thank you so much for the great information and your help!
