    This is exactly what I needed to see. I used to hold the racquet the way you just taught me, it was very good, but people said it had to be a traditional grip (using thumbs for power) and I didn't. enough opinions to oppose everyone so I worked hard to fix my hand, after watching this video I have confidence again, thank you

      More important than how you swing is where your hitting points are. Each swing location may be different. However, the point where the shuttlecock meets the racket must be constant. And there is an effective point. Don't worry too much about small moves.

    although skeptical, i have just tried this at home and find it to be a promising point. as the coach says, it is difficult to maintain the thumb position in the 'traditional' grip during a fast swing. more importantly, abandoning thumb pressure and adopting a neutral grip i am able to generate higher racket head velocity with quick supination of the forearm. in other words, the biomechanical key is forearm rotation not thumb pressure, and thumb pressure does seem to get in the way, as it can promote involvement of the wrong muscles. for focused power you would of course need the right point of contact and a tightened grip at the moment of contact, just like the forehand side. i have not yet tried this on the court but look forward to testing it there. what i like about this channel is the coach's fearlessness in going against conventional 'wisdom' when he finds it does not work so well. some people may find it arrogant or a little crazy, but i find it completely refreshing. his bold suggestions may not always be exactly right for you, but there is a lot of value here and he usually offers something i can take to the court and work with. thank you very much for sharing your masterful insights

      I appreciate your comment. The thumb-down grip method is very important. In fact, it is essential for anyone learning badminton, but I no longer take lessons with only basic forehand and backhand grips. That's why many people don't even know about the thumb-down backhand grip.

    Wow this is another refreshing idea i also used the bevel grip for my rear backhand so the proper grip is the forehand grip? You said is the thumb down grip but it looks like a normal forehand grip. But even taufik hidayat is also using the bevel grip so is also controversal

    • @full-swing
      @full-swing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It doesn't matter which finger you support where. That's a later issue.
      1. You need to realize in which direction the head of the racquet goes and which path it takes when swinging.
      2. Decide which finger to apply force and which finger to support.
      3. Put your fingers where you want them to be.

    백그립은 코치님 말씀대로 검지가 올라가고 엄지가 내려오는게 맞습니다 그리고 포핸드 그립전환도 용이해지고 레슨받는분처럼 엄지를 넓은면에 받치면 스윙이 뻣뻣해지며 부자연스러운거 같읍니다 라켓 좁은 모서리면에 엄지를 받칠경우 라켓이 빠져나갈 우려가 있어서 불안합니다 따라서 코치님 그립법을 적극추천합니다 현재 저도 그맇게하고 있읍니다

      처음 배울땐 알기 쉬우라고 엄지를 받치라고 하지만 구력이 올라갈수록 엄지 사용이 줄어드는 것 같아요. 나중엔 옆면 받칠때나 그립 전환할때만 주로 사용하죠

    Is the backhand grip same as forehand grip? According to the video, I see they are the same. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

    • @full-swing
      @full-swing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When hitting the shuttlecock in front of your face, your thumb is raised high to support the grip. However, if you have to hit the shuttlecock with a backhand that is out of front of your body, you must use the grip shown in the video. It is very similar to the forehand grip you hold when you smash. But try to grip the grip as if you were pulling your middle and fourth fingers back rather than doing a smash. You will easily know what it feels like.

      위 영상이 조금 도움이 될지 모르겠습니다. 포핸드 백핸드를 바꿔잡는 기술은 별다른 게 없습니다. 사실 기능적인면보다는 자세를 빨리 잡을 수 있는 반응속도가 더 중요하다고 볼 수 있는데요, 그것은 게임을 많이 해본 경험과 상대방의 스트로크를 대비하는 집중력에 달려있습니다. 한가지 더 팁을 드리자면.. 상대방의 라켓면에 집중하세요. 어차피 상대방의 샷은 그곳에서 시작합니다
