Great video, made me realise where I'm going wrong 😁 I think what catches me is that during drills like this I focus too much on hitting the shuttle. That's why we amateurs lead with the racket. We're "trying" to hit the shuttle so we are pushing the racket forward. To learn more quickly we must forget about hitting the shuttle for a few minutes. When learning correct juggling technique you must learn to allow the ball to drop to the ground. This helps you learn the correct technique more quickly. Rather than always trying to catch the juggling balls, you instead discover where to toss the ball so that it can fall perfectly in your other hand at the right spot. If you are always trying to catch you can never discover this. I think for this swing, to learn more quickly I must first put aside the desire to hit the shuttle. I must first get the swing and then discover where in the air the shuttle should be in relation to this improved swing. Here's what I'll try: 1. practice this movement of "throwing the hand" without a racket or shuttle. 2. Then try using the same movement with a racket but no shuttle. 3. Finally introduce the shuttle. But emphasis is on the swing from previous steps. Give yourself explicit permission to miss the shuttle. This is PRACTICE. Invite yourself to notice if your mentality has changed to "trying to hit the shuttle". If so, go back to swinging a few times without the shuttle so you can get back to the correct technique before reintroducing the shuttle. Your aim is to keep the same free swing, which will be repeatable, and hitting the shuttle is a matter of timing based on its speed and position.
one more. Use your whole body. You need to relax as much as possible to be able to use your whole body. Amateurs only focus on the shoulders and wrists. But those are just two of many joints. You can use numerous joints, including your toes, ankles, knees, waist, chest, and shoulders. This is not planned; it happens naturally. Only when you relax can you use your whole body.
Thanks coach han, I've always hurt my shoulder joint when smashing. The smash felt weak even when I use full force. Watched your videos and realise that I've been using the wrong technique all along. Will try and improvise this at my next badminton session.
This morning, I play badminton with my friends n try this so called "leave the racket behind". I notice something, this make my hit even more powerfull n reduce pressure to my arm. I only swing my left behind arm/racket without so much effort to push forward, but the shot created faster n more powerful. Thanks for the little detail, now I understand how Axelsen's smash works. He bends his body n leave the racket behind to create momentum n generate power before smashing
I think my last week badminton session, for the first time I hit a smash like Coach Han taught. The shuttle go straight down to the floor and I have no idea how I did it. And I suspect I swing my smash "slowly". You have know idea how proud I am at that moment. lol. I thank you for your teach Coach Han! Also, Coach Han's mimics of us is always hurtful to watch. lol

Thankyou coach Han🙏. I practised as you showed in the video for a week & now I feel no strain in my wrists. Earlier my technique was wrong, causing wrist pain. I am generating more power & sound with much less effort.
A good coach only needs to teach the basics, if you force them to be like the coach, the player's way of hitting won't improve, because each person has a different way of hitting that they feel comfortable with.

@@full-swing 아 일부러 손목을 꺾어두는게 아니었군요..!! 일부러 백스윙 단계에서 라켓을 손목을 사용해서 억지로 더 남기면서 스윙연습 해봤는데 너무 어색하더라구요. 여쭤보려했는데 마침 적절하게 답변해주셔서 도움이 됐습니다!!ㅎㅎ
