Launchpad mini, U5 is a Voltage reg that feeds the 3v6 so more than likely a 5v reg allowing for the circuitry inline, Remove L3 to bypass it. usb incoming power from Vbus, GND from DGND to feed a off board 3.6v reg, 3.6 feeds into 3V6

Found it, it's a USB to 3.6v buck circuit U5 is an iD8242 R21, and R22 as a voltage divider with C21 cap for the adjust/fb

The pokedex display connector is a zebra connector, similar to those used in standard 1602 lcd displays - they need to be pressed down really firmly and are held by metal tags on lcd displays - so maybe it would be worth trying a bit of extra pressure on the zebra strip while testing the device?

The "click" of a hard drive is usually the sound, when the power turns off and the head(s) slam back to the parking position. The volume depends on the vendor.

    For the second item
    Check the lcd voltage pin.
For the 3rd item Check the ic data sheet
If the ic shows it’s a 3.3v ic
Then any 5v to 3.3 transistors will work

When I can't find schematics for a board I try to look up replacement boards or find pretty much anything on Google that shows me a picture of that board. And then I try zooming in and seeing if I can find the parts that I'm looking for. Anything's better than nothing

The fact the the power supply on the PS5 was dead and when that was switched out you see a different fault makes me VERY suspicious that the unit is made from different broken consoles.
The LCD connector on the Pokedex is a zebra connector. They were used in the original Game N Watch handhelds, and, for some reason, some robot vacuum docks.

One of the Pins of the missing transistor may be connected to ground via a resistor, so the
grounds polarity will provide a clue as to what type of transistor "NPN or PNP" would be
used, to save costs manufactures use the same transistors, so take a look around on the
circuit board and see if you can locate any other transistor and see if you can get another
one to see if it will fire up the unit, if it fires up make sure the transistor is operating around
the same temperature as the other transistor, and if it is and the unit works, you may do a
quick dance, lick your finger and stroke the air notching up a win for a miniscule profit.
If no transistor can be found on board at least try a NPN or PNP that will fit there..
    APU 👁👉👍👈

  • @jonstout9236

Good content as always Joey - couple of suggestions. The DJ board - if they are inexpensive, buy a working one to find out what the blown component on yours is, then sell it again. For the PS4 I would take a hard look at the thermals... they are very sensitive, so use a GOOD paste and GOOD thermal pads on all those chips around it (8 each side)... I also found that using thermal pads too thick was a bad idea, so go for 0.8 mm or 0.5 to get everything contacting well.
