Amazing, thanks for posting. Alain is such a tasteful and masterful musician that it's hard to evaluate his work with QOTSA and Vultures. He's always kind of playing second fiddle. Don't blame him though, I'd kill for that gig! That's playing! Awesome tone! Underrated!!!
anybody know what hes using to get that sound at the first? I've never heard anybody do that before, sounds badass. How have i not heard of this guy before?
he only was born in chile, but he doesn't know nothing about it and no matter where he was born, talent has no nation no celebren mucho que es chileno, el es una persona con talento, no importa donde nasca, pues eso no cambia nada
yeah but that will soon change i think because he is in them crooked vultures with dave grohl, josh homme, and jon paul jones...which is gonna be like the best thing ever btw...nov 17, mark the date...
Caleb Argueta sounds mostly just simple major pentatonic with some lydian-mixolydian thrown in the mix. i didn't really analyze it but just from memory after listening to it...something along those lines. nothing that weird or special really about the scales he's using.
That guitar is putting out some beautiful tones under the main note. Good gear eh. Always sounds better in the hands of someone who knows what they're about.
he's not underrated.... Only real musicians appreciate him... So i'd say he's very well appreciated and not underrated in many peoples eyes :)
This never gets old.. Truly love his playing.
i like listening to this lying down in a dark room with my headphones on and the lights off. let it penetrate me totally, incredible!!
It's shameful how many people don't know if him. Been listening to him since the early 90s. One of my favorites!
God Damn! This man is a natural musical genious. Now why can't there be more players this creative nowadays? And why can't they be more famous?
One of the most under-rated musicians in the history of rock.
straight to favorites thank you

That's playing!
Awesome tone!
Underrated!!!
Dear God, what a man!
Absolutely extraordinary!!
@NYNick20

he's great...i could here a lot of Fripp and some Zappa in this solo....
fuckin' awesome....his soul passing throught his guitar......
anybody know what hes using to get that sound at the first? I've never heard anybody do that before, sounds badass. How have i not heard of this guy before?
Sounds like natural feedback and a DigiTech Whammy/Pitch Shift Pedal

Go, Alain, go!
He's not even playing. His heart is singing through his guitar and his fingers.

this definitely sounds like "a long slow goodbye." pretty cool that qotsa made lyrics to this
great stuff, you get a lot of emotion i think in his music
I've wished for years The Tea Party would add him to their touring lineup to flesh out their live sound.
I completely agree.
One question, how does he get that tone?
he's doing some Robert Fripp style, but with an optimistic view.
very good !!
Yeah totally what I was thinking
Very Robert Fripp.
Genius.
I believe you meant to say, "Arguably, the very finest player ever."
chileeeeeeeno chileeeeeeeeeno.
Does anyone have any info about this concert?

the key of incredible. does it even matter Caleb
Kris Charlton yep, i want to study him, i play guitar and his sound is very cool

+keeelane We can discuss modes all day, but in the end, its really all about his peculiar ingenious phrasing.
Sounds like Lydian dominant/Lydian b7/Acoustic scale. It's a mode of the melodic minor scale
That guitar is putting out some beautiful tones under the main note. Good gear eh. Always sounds better in the hands of someone who knows what they're about.
Fuck i feel exelent becose he is fucking Chilean like mee xD
