I met Alain and Natasha 1997 when my band opened for Eleven. They were both so gracious and kind to us. I've always held that memory very close to my heart. There aren't many people in the industry, that I can truly say, that left as big of an impression on me as they did. 🙏
There is a reason many refer to Alain as Maestro. His singing and playing are a singular talent, there are none like him. All of his contemporaries sing his praises. Bravo Alain and Iron Jinn!
Been a fan of this man's music since I first heard the second Eleven album...wow! 30 years ago (already). Thanks Alain for providing decades of wonderful music!
Alain and the band are incredibly tight in the performances, with such perfect and harmonious arrangements. Revealing interview segments gives us a good sense of him.
Hanging Tree, I was in bad, bad way back in those days. Desert Sessions lifted me out of my mindset, and hearing this song for the first time was pivotal to me. RIP Mark...
Alain Johannes seems to be playing a Yamaha Revstar. Great guitars! Great performance, great band! Alain's song "Trick With No Sleeve" on Real To Reel is the best song on there.
I love Chris Cornells Euphoria morning, and after couple years I heard Alains playing and I told my this sounds the same like Chrises first record. Then I checked and Alain was crucial part of that amazing record!
Oh my God - this performance sounds perfect! Excellent band (Iron Jinn) to join Alain and play with him. Great musicians and songs. Love this version of Endless Eyes (very close to the album one) not to mention the wholesomeness on Kaleidoscope and Reach out guitar sound. Love it! Hangin Tree version rocks really hard! Alain is such a cool & warm-hearted man. Gotta love that guy!
Alain is definitely a musical genius. In many ways I equate him with another musical genius with less exposure than they truly deserve that Alain exposed me to in 1978: Allan Holdsworth. Not in terms of guitar virtuosity (although Alain Johannes is very much a virtuoso on guitar- I knew that the first time I ever saw him play on the Fairfax high school bleachers), but more in the sense of his unbelievably vast contributions to so many incredible musical projects. He has had a guiding hand in so much incredible work. He’s very much The Maestro behind the scenes. But knowing that he’s also really kind and humble, it doesn’t surprise me that he isn’t a household name. He’s a musician’s musician - who just so happens to have contributed to a crap ton of very popular music. He’s one of a kind.
Great performance and interview! I think the interviewer did a really good job. not your usual generic questions you hear from American interviewers. Really cool stuff all around, including the Dutch musicians!
Not mentioned in the interview, the album "Euphoria Mourning" in which, Eleven, including Natasha (Alain's wife who later died) played keyboards & created one of the most timeless albums ever with the late Chris Cornell. Please listen to Euphoria Mourning.
GENIO, HUMILDAD EN CADA RESONANCIA! CUÁNTO LE DEBEN GRANDES BANDAS! THEM CROOKED VULTURES, DEBE PONER EN SU CARÁTULA A JOHANNES. ES UN INSULTO A UN CAPO Q NO APAREZCA.
Alain's poignant, pensive expression of love and memory of Natasha as considering each day since as Inspiration rather than dwelling on the obvious sadness and loss, a true lesson of positivity to us all and how we should imagine how the one who has passed away would want us to continue.

Do you still play?

Bravo Alain and Iron Jinn!
They sound great together. Keep drinking the same water.
It was a privilege to see Alain live twice with TCV. Glad Josh took time every show to give Alain the spotlight.
He deserves such each and every time, absolutely. ❤
Two of the most underrated things in the guitar world… Alan Johannes and Yamaha
I've been waiting so long for this. Hes a special human not just a fantastic and unique musician!
RIP Natasha ❤
"Hi, I'm Alain Johannes. I played the guitar solo on Steel Rain. You're welcome"
El Maestro suena bien en cualquier parte del mundo. Saludos desde Grecia…. con Tobalaba.

Also his mark on QOTSA is indelible...
My favorite lineups had Alain & Natasha.

Alain demostrado su tremendo talento aquí y en la quebra' del ají
Damn! Good stuff!
A true legend

A great lyricist, an awesome songwriter, wonderful singer, but damn! That guitar playing. He's a master of all traits.
Killer as always 🔥
I'd love to see the full interview
Talentoso!!
Reach out is a fucking master piece!!!
God damn master musician and songwriter. I admire his talent so damn much.
That was so KICK A@@!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤11
Rock on Alain!
I can't believe they are playing "Reach Out".....amazing.
I remember Alain fronted What Is This who almost had a hit with their excellent Todd Rundgren Produced version of I'll Be Around on MCA.
❤❤❤❤❤
I can't stop listening his work for the Ghost Reckon I & II soundtracks, they are fantastic.
Sick Hangin Tree performance. Underrated musician...
Got to love Alain 🤘
I wouldn't be able to tell, but guessing they had little time for rehearsing, yet Alain and Iron Jinn sound amazing together.
fuck yeah
Nice 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Alain and 'Tasha were a big part of my favourite band, in the mid 2000's. Still a tragic loss.

Masterpiece.
One of my favorites ❤
♥️
Alain reminds me of Dimebag Darrell in that he has a certain 'feel' to the way he plays a guitar that is impossible to replicate accurately.

I wonder why the bass had a finger rest removed & why it isn’t a P Bass without a finger rest

You should have mentioned Mark Lanegan, Jan Douwe... missed opportunity
Alain's poignant, pensive expression of love and memory of Natasha as considering each day since as Inspiration rather than dwelling on the obvious sadness and loss, a true lesson of positivity to us all and how we should imagine how the one who has passed away would want us to continue.
You didnt write pillow of your bones, I know
Sounds like a Radiohead/Zeppelin cross pollination.
I love this performance, but the drummer butchered Hangin' Tree
theres no way he didnt look at the setlist and think... fuck.
Kalidescope Wow what a tune
