Getting good at guitar is something you can't fake , you gotta put in the hours.

@@TheRealMountainDewRock pretty much same as anything. If you want to be good at something you have to put in the hours, the sweat, the blood and the tears. Whether that is something academic or something else like guitar or drums or public speaking. No pain no gain.
Tom morello is one of the only guitarists where you can hear 2 seconds of a riff and know its him. Excellent player and unique sound

At my first Jam session I played " Killing in the Name of ". Tom Morello is one of the best technical guitarist out there . I love each and every composition of him. I hope he tours to INDIA with the band.

Way too often people say success is because of talent. I think that people say that to try to justify their own fears to others when the evidence is so very different. Every person I know who's ultra-successful is also extremely hard working. People who don't take holidays, work 7 days a week, think about their career all the time, who practice all the time. For every Cristiano Ronaldo, there is a Robinho, namely a talent but wants the trapping of success without the daily grind of self-improvement.
Ya.... hard work and practice bring talent. Its why people say it. Are you saying talent doesn't bring success?
@@bobabooey4537 Talent is a nice to have but in the long run the thing that wins is hard work. Talent and hard work create people like C. Ronaldo. Immensely talented of course but works harder than any other player on the training pitch.
Players like Jordan and Kobe were also famed for their hard work and they also unsurprisingly were the most respected for their performances. Talented players are a dime a dozen but players who combine the 2 traits of talent and hard work perform beyond the others.
I see talent as a natural aptitude and then practice brings excellence. Players without natural talent can become incredible simply through hard work. I've heard plenty of stories saying that. Along with plenty of stories from people with talent who couldn't perform because they didn't nurture their talent through practice.
I’m from academia. Those at the very top (and that’s not me) are both brilliant and extremely hard working. IMO you cannot make it to the top on talent alone.
Talent is a myth. Talent is finding something you love and putting in the hours to perfect/learn. When I was a kid i assumed people came from the womb amazing musicians or artists.. so I was already the architect of my own failure at being great at something with that mentality

I was never much of a fan of RATM's music or their Revolution shtick, but Morello is a really interesting and intelligent dude, and I love listening to his ideas and opinions about music.

I met Tom once randomly in Nashville one night. He was such a nice guy and could definitely tell that we were absolutely star struck, but he was super cool. One of the best nights of my life.

For some reason, "talent" is a word that seems to mask the fact that playing instruments is a SKILL like any other. Wanna land that move on your skateboard without busting your ass? Wanna hit the bullseye with that pistol every time? Wanna rip out some killa guitar licks?
