I didn't think I would see anything I didn't know, but, boy, I did not know about dumping all text into a closed caption, adding carriage returns, then, in one move, split every carriage return into separate closed captions. That tip alone is worth its weight in gold! Thank you.
I usually go into these videos thinking I know it all already, and most of the time it’s true!..this wasn’t the case here. Awesome tips and thanks for sharing! Had no idea about the smart conform option 🤯
All 25 tips were great! But definitely appreciate replacing multiple transitions, range check and optical flow! Thank you! 💯 Also, just became a new sub!
For the markers, you can press m twice in a row and it opens up that dialogue box. Instead of double-clicking it. Also, that to-do list and completed list show up as their own lists in the Index. Which is also searchable. Super powerful.
Phenomenal tutorial, one of the best on FCP X I’ve ever seen…thank you. I noticed some of your footage (from other TH-cam videos I’ve seen of yours), is of the Boca Resort, right in my back yard in Boca Raton. Are you guys based down here in South Florida, and if so, do you ever have events, or workshops? Would love to reach out.
Thanks for the tips...very useful. Tip #25...didn't know about the Opacity slider. I manually keyframe both ends of the clip to fade in and out. The slider will definitely help speed up the workflow. 👍🏾
Very helpful...a few I knew and a few I hadn't even known what they even meant. Even if it was 1 tip out of the 25, it was worth watching! Thanks so much for the content. Subscribed!
Thank you. As usual, great tips, and there is always something that I did not know. In particular, I loved the split captions! I had never noticed it. In your #18 tip: it seems to imply that a gap clip is black, or is white, but it is not. It is actually transparent. That background color is just how empty areas of the timeline are displayed in the viewer in FCP, it is NOT exported. So if one wants to put, say, black text over a white background, a generator is indeed necessary.
I've been using Final Cut since 2004 and love the tips I never knew about like Find and Replace Text and Globally Replacing Transitions. Thanks so much for showing these and all your other great tips and tricks!
You’re making great content. Thanks so much for all your hard work. As I’m switching to FCP from Sony Vegas, I keep coming back here for more guidance.
I LOVE your tutorials. Right to the point and explained really well. I learned so many time saving techniques from your videos. Thanks for doing all these. Keep them coming!
You are a Godsend! I’m making a transition from Premiere Pro to FCP and your videos and tutorials are making me feel so much better about this decision.
Thanks Jenn. Very useful tips. Probably just me but I have never had too much luck with Optical flow and Frame blending. I don’t find these features to work very well.
Thanks a lot- great instructions. Missing: select part of a video clip before you import the whole file. When import you can select part of a video instead of the full length. How to?
I love skimming. Is there a way to skim as you play/review while in edit mode? In other words, if you play the video in edit mode, the line skims what is playing.
Great content! 👍 I'm new so trying to soak up as much as I can! Question about the Anchor and snapping in general. I expect there to be an option for snapping it to the center of an object, instead of having to do it by eye or bringing out the calc to find the center. Is there a way? Thought this was common, when rotating an object for example. Also, sometimes when I'm using Shapes, and I duplicate that shape on top of the other, it's not always aligned, super weird. I've had strange behaviours using shapes, not working as expected, not aligning when say doing a cut-out. Keep up the good work!!
I didn’t like this video because it showed me how clueless I have been in FCPX 😜🤦🏼♀️. Just kidding… thank-you sooooo much 🙏. I can’t decide what is my favorite, but the “to-do marker” is going to be extremely useful!
These tips are amazing Jenn!! Quick question: When I expand the audio in my very first video clip, it won’t allow me to drag the audio it past the 0:00 marker (actually I can extend it past 0.00 but it is greyed out until the first video starts). This was not always the case - any idea how I can fix it so that audio can play at the start (without needing a video placeholder above it in the timeline). Also when I’m previewing my timeline, and it gets to the end it does not stop. Instead the playhead goes back to the start and plays my entire project again from the start. Gah! Any help would be amazing. You’re the best!
Start music before beginning of video: Hit home key to move play head to start of timeline, option W to insert gap, move audio to start under the gap, trim or widen gap as needed to fit your leader audio track. To prevent your project from going back to the beginning during preview, turn off Play Loop with Cmd-L. (Check View > Playback > Loop Playback to see Loop status)
Hey, I just started to look at your tutorials. I like your topics. But you do things too fast, so several times I cant see what you are really doing. 2 examples. I often get horisontal clips that would look better in vertical. (smart conform).I try to figure what you do to "modify" vertical. I cant find the "modify" part. 2. When you want to import just some of your footage, from media import. I try to mark parts of the clip, but I am not able to simply do it. I am new to this, so maybe you reach out to people more experienced than me. I like you stuff anyway.
Smart conform??? I had no idea, I was doing this manually! Thanks so much!
That one is one of my faves! It works really well too.
Dear Jenn, have you tried to hit M twice? :-) Cheers, Florian
I didn't think I would see anything I didn't know, but, boy, I did not know about dumping all text into a closed caption, adding carriage returns, then, in one move, split every carriage return into separate closed captions. That tip alone is worth its weight in gold! Thank you.
7:08 - Use “l” key for in, and “O” key for out.
Split Captions...thank you Jenn! Also love, love the way you get right to it without fluff in the beginning.
Yesssss that's a good one.
I had to sub because you are showing a lot of professional points and not point all other show ..... wow I will be an exspert soon.... lol
I usually go into these videos thinking I know it all already, and most of the time it’s true!..this wasn’t the case here. Awesome tips and thanks for sharing! Had no idea about the smart conform option 🤯
My favorite is the Captioning tip! You should do a whole video on how to maximize your captions in FCP! Thanks so much Jenn!❤
I like the play around feature! great job by the way Mrs. Hollywood 😎
That last one "Teardrop fade" is awesome. Will definitely be using that! Great video!
All 25 tips were great! But definitely appreciate replacing multiple transitions, range check and optical flow! Thank you! 💯
Also, just became a new sub!

Yes someone mentioned the double clicking M for markers in another comment. Great tip! I learn new stuff all the time!
WHOA smart conform blew me away. Thanks as always.
Wow the smart conform was definitely a game changer
Great info! I've been recording audio in voice memos until I saw in here there is a voice recorder in FCP.... *face palm*
There are so many hidden nuggets in FCP, don't be too hard on yourself. I still learn new stuff all the time.
You’re awesome! This helps with multitudes of tasks I didn’t even know. I owe you a beer. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the tips...very useful. Tip #25...didn't know about the Opacity slider. I manually keyframe both ends of the clip to fade in and out. The slider will definitely help speed up the workflow. 👍🏾

If you can help me figure why my Go Pro Hero 10 video keeps freezing my projects. I'm at the point where I'm going to drop FCP or Go Pro
Great content! 👍 I'm new so trying to soak up as much as I can!

when i make a speed change at a certain point in a clip ( shift + b), sometimes I would like to change the position of that cut, how do i do that?

🙂👍👍👍
I have used Final Cut professionally for 10 years and only now I learn there’s a record voiceover function?
There's so much tucked away in there!
I wish all markers could be selected and pasted
“I mean, I would never do that.” LMAO
@jenn if you want automatic captions try this tip from the FCP BRO th-cam.com/video/g3wUaXb3DlQ/w-d-xo.html
I saw this. Excellent.
I watched tNice tutorials baked af it actually helps if you get into it
