As a longtime Final Cut Pro user I would say I did not know about 2/3 of the tips that you showed. So thanks 1 million for making this video. I’ll be watching all the rest of yours
The Photoshop trick - thank you so much!! That's incredible. What I usually did is perform multiple exports (of different layers) of a PSD file and include them separately in the FCP project. That is so cumbersome in comparison to what you showed. You saved me a lot of time in the future! EDIT: for what it's worth, just wanted to let you know that TH-cam recommended your video for a few days in a row (despite me initially not clicking on it). TH-cam probably agrees with the rest of us that this is a great video 🙂
Thank you, you did a great job. Not only was the content super helpful, but unlike 99.999999999999999% of creators, you DIDN’T waste our time with inane banter. Subscribed.
I had been editing on a mid 2012 13 inch MacBook Pro. I got away from editing for a couple of years. I just got a 2021 14 inch MacBook Pro and am excited about editing again. Thanks for the tips and tricks! Thank you!
No wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the .PSD thing I wish I knew about that sooner!!! I literally accepted that exporting separate layers and then re-importing them into final cut was just a piece of the process. That’s game changing! Amazing video ❤
Really useful stuff. Wish I’d known about that tilde option on the trim tool before. I couldn’t figure out why other clips were losing sync. I learn something new every day thanks to people like you.
Jenn presents the material quickly, but not too quickly that she assumes you know what she is doing. Which is perfect for me, because I don't know what she is doing, but I can learn at her speed.
WOW.. I have been using FCPX for so long time and didn't know few of the tricks. Thank you for sharing. My Favourite is : Slow motion playback and Last Trick which is adjust mix.
The end really got me..... I love the way you said .... bet you did not know that 1.... and yes ... even though I am still learning, I know lots did not know that 1
Been using FCPX for a good number of years and you've demystified a lot of things that very few people are talking about! More so, my workflow will be a bunch faster with the ability to break apart compound clips! THANK YOU!
I knew about almost every other tip but that last one is definitely gonna be my go to, from now on! Thank you for making these videos! I love them!!! ❤️😊
Im only halfway through the vid and had to give it a LIKE because the editing PSD files tip just blew my mind 🤯! I instantly imagined so many things i could do with that , & not have to rely on something like Canva as much to animate my elements.
I was blown away by the PSD one, I realized that there’s no one who could’ve told me that before because those who use photoshop don’t usually use FCP.
Jenn, I am primarily an audio engineer that uses Final Cut Pro and I have to say, great tips here, super useful! Especially the one about dragging Photoshop files into Final Cut Pro...mind blown on that one, many thanks!
I have been working in FC almost daily for two decades, X almost as soon as it came out. I clicked on this video because I was bored and I figured I _might_ learn something useful while I scritched my dog. I ended up knowing about 4 of these tricks, all the rest were things that would have made my life substantially easier for years now. Like how was I never curious enough to click on the big 'NORMAL' to find those other text styles?! It's not like it's hidden. I wish I had a time machine ,I have so many questions for my past self.
Good tips. I forgot about the option-click to remove color from the range selector. Here's something to add to your clip connection tip. If you want to move the clip connection to the very first frame of a clip, it's very difficult to try to command-option click that clip. A simple key sequence is to select the connected clip, Shift-I to go to the first frame, Command-X to cut the clip, then Option-V to paste the clip back at the location of the cursor. You now have the connection at the very first frame.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooooooo many really useful stuff, although i've been working in fcpx since 7 years)))))) thank you! Now I wanna see all of your tutorials, cause you're teaching sooo goog!
Hey Jenn, thanks for the tips! I actually work with FCP X since it’s on the market and 19 of your tips I already know but the last one I did not - thanks for that. About „Snapshot Projects“ I think it’s meant the other way around: You can safe the current status of your work as kind of a backup with remaining compound clips unchanged. Therefore your snapshot is saved with the date and timestamp. When you proceed with your work in the original project and maybe change the compound clip it remains untouched in the snapshot.
Thanks for this video. Some great tips there, I knew a few of them but have definitely learnt a few new ones as well (and no I didn’t know about that last one). One thing though, Tip #2 "How to Import Clip Ranges in Final Cut Pro" - this seems to only work on files like XDCAM, AVCHD and so on but it doesn’t work on MP4 clips, at least I’ve not found a way to make it work, which is annoying as I shoot a lot of my videos in MP4 for ease of use in general (easier sharing with a client, easier to view in Mac or PC without special software etc). If you or anyone else knows a way to do this with MP4s I’d love to know.
How do you rename an effects category after it has been created? The custom effects can be renamed in Finder, but I'm not able to find the category itself in Finder or a way to rename it in Final Cut. Help please?
I didn't know about option-deselect mask range, the psd files which is cool, the hidden text styles, the clip skimming although I had already noticed that you can skim an audio track solo somehow, the difference between duplicate and snapshot a project (always been perplexed about this), and the option-effect mix hack which is sort of unpractical but cool to try out. Thanks!
Jenn Snapshot fue una verdadera joya, no sabia que se podía hacer, ahora me ahorraras muchisimo tiempo, eres muy linda, muchas gracias y me es fácil entender tu idioma, lo hablas muy claro.
Awesome, do you have any good starting out videos for using motion? I just got it the other day. To hopefully add some after-effects to my music videos.
I know this is a somewhat old video, but instead of using the scaling and position to zoom into something, the transition is actually a lot more smooth if you use the cropping with Shift + C and keyframing that instead.
I’m still doing the basics in Final Cut - but I always save your videos for when I get stronger and faster and can have more fun with these deeper options in FCP!
You should have Hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I added one to start you off. Absolutely great info as well as great audio and video. Wish I could do that. Thanks for making this video.
Hi, I enjoy your tutorials! Thanks for adding chapters. I do have a question on clip importing of ranges. I am not being given that choice on the import screen. I have tried selecting R for range, and also in and out in the area you describe, and it is cooperating. I did hit shift, enter which seemed to allow it to select a smaller portion of the clip, but not really convenient? Any ideas?
I just realized that the function you mention in minute 1'19" works only for imports from camera or SD. On the other hand, it does not work if you do import from external HD: do you confirm? Is there a function for imports from external HD as well? I truly love your videos😀
If you liked this video, there's a Part 2! th-cam.com/video/NxxO1dyu22o/w-d-xo.html
Excellent ! Thanks!
I know a few things we can do with final cut but ...its a private matter...PM me if your interested...
The absolute first time that I’ve watched a video titled “tricks you didn’t know” and I actually didn’t know.
Amazing.
We need more like this.
Thought the same thing!
Been using FCP for years and went into this video thinking I'd know them all and hardly knew any. This was very helpful! Thank you!

Usually I find one interesting fact in these typical "10 FCP tipps" videos. But this one is truly amazing. Thanks for several new time savers! :)
Wow, thanks!
I’ve been using Final Cut for years and there were several tips in here I did not know! You got a new subscriber 👍
This is some serious stuff. I am definitely bookmarking this video.
your profile picture is not centered
@@itaintitpewds lol. Thanks buddy. Fixing that right away
No wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the .PSD thing I wish I knew about that sooner!!! I literally accepted that exporting separate layers and then re-importing them into final cut was just a piece of the process. That’s game changing! Amazing video ❤
"Oh my god" were the first words out my mouth and I'm only on the first one! Been using FCPX for 8 years and had no clue. Thank you!
That PSD file is a life changer
Really useful stuff. Wish I’d known about that tilde option on the trim tool before. I couldn’t figure out why other clips were losing sync. I learn something new every day thanks to people like you.
I've been cutting in FCP for years and didn't know several of these tricks. Thank you! Great tutorial
I'm a HEAVY daily pro (second guessing this title LOL) user and you just taught me some major GAME CHANGER tips! Bless you!!
Jenn presents the material quickly, but not too quickly that she assumes you know what she is doing. Which is perfect for me, because I don't know what she is doing, but I can learn at her speed.

That option + hover over effect trick IS amazing, and no I didn't know that. Awesome, thank you!
I have been using Final Cut for a long time, but I still learned a lot from your video.
Wow! Wasn’t expecting to learn so much clicking on this video but so many hidden secrets!
The first letter tip in choosing fonts really helps, Thank you very much,Jen
You're so welcome!
19 was my favorite but the final one too. 19 was about something I had been frustrated by (cc’s). Thank you for being clear and concise.
I knew about almost every other tip but that last one is definitely gonna be my go to, from now on! Thank you for making these videos! I love them!!! ❤️😊

They REALLY like to hide stuff. I'm still learning too.
I watched a lot of FCPX tips and secrets videos, and this is by far the BEST!

I frequently use PhotoShop PSD's with layers, you can KeyFrame the Layers which lets you create some pretty cool effects. Thanks for sharing.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooooooo many really useful stuff, although i've been working in fcpx since 7 years)))))) thank you! Now I wanna see all of your tutorials, cause you're teaching sooo goog!
Jeezus Christ this video saved my editing life!!
is there a specific key to click for selecting ranges? thanks.
Great video. I am only new to FCP and I have learnt a lot from you. Thx heaps.
Number #9 is amazing!! Never thought FXP could break layers apart like that! Thanks for the tips
Jenn these tips are really good. Sometimes I'll stumble on things in Final Cut, but have no idea how i did it! Thank you!!!!
What a gem you are! One of my new fave channel discoveries for sure 👌🏽

Thanks I found the same issue Jean should mention this limit. I wasted a lot of time trying to limit range on a mp4 source
Just tried the import with the latest 10.6.6 version. Still does not work with H264 clips ;(
"Did not know", also loved the 'create snapshot'. Thank you for sharing!
I'm just marathoning these videos this week... GREAT tips!
Yay! Thank you!
Watching now... THANK YOU! I didn't know about the color mask....
Yesss! Got you on the first tip. Love that.
How do you rename an effects category after it has been created? The custom effects can be renamed in Finder, but I'm not able to find the category itself in Finder or a way to rename it in Final Cut. Help please?
Omg , 3 minutes in and I already learned a lot . I've always had this thing that I lear a lot more faster if a Lady is teaching , Thank you
Very helpful video! thanks for sharing. I like the de-select tip. Going to start using it moving forward
That was amazing. I did not know that clip. Thank you so much for your tutorials
Brilliant! I only knew 3 of these and definitely not the last one! THANKS!
#1 is gold - (and the others are great too). It's definitely an interesting 'sandbox' (final cut) to play in. Thanks for your videos!
it was really informative, thanks Jenn
My goodness, this video is gold. I will be saving this forsure!
The PSD drop was very informative! Thanks for that one.
aha..the last trick is so cool..thanks Jen..
I know, right!?
You just gained a sub. The color one at the beginning is one that I've been struggling with for a VERY long time. Thank you.
really very helpful, i like your words not too long but very easy to understand, wish i had seen these videos sooner
I did not know number 20 and that's a time saving tip.
Much appreciation and this video will go into my FCPX play list.
See you in the next one Jenn.

Always learning new stuff! That last tip about Adjusting Effects using option was completely new to me. Great tips Jenn!
You are right! I did not know that last one. Very helpful.
Been using Final Cut for over 10 years and you taught me some great things I can use in my workflow. Thank you!
Best things I didn't know in FCP, thank you!! Subscribed!

Awesome, do you have any good starting out videos for using motion? I just got it the other day. To hopefully add some after-effects to my music videos.
This is a very helpful video! Using a Photoshop file like this is amazing
Thank you Jenn. This is excellent.
Saved to my editing folder! Thank you so much~

Thanks for your amazing trove of user friendly tips!! Your videos high density!!
Happy to help!

Great stuff. Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to see the next video!! 👍
Very helpful tips! The last one foh shure I did not know about and it's super convenient!
