Now that I've been playing a lot and almost finished. I can assure you that almost 80-90% of the areas run much much smoother. It's fairly easy to get somewhat around 45 to 60fps with the setting shown in the video. Theres a few exception ofc, but those are only like 2 areas where the framerate were dropped to 25-26fps~ish. Other than that, it's very.. i mean very.. playable. Have fun ^-^
@nobodymy man ram is not just the only crucial part here. My laptop has 12 gigs of ram but a shitty I3 7th zen cpu so no matter how hard I try i am unable to fix my fps. In games like elden ring no matter how much ram you have if other specs are shit..the game will not run smoothly
Can you tell me the 2 areas that gave you trouble. Cause I myself am running the game on a low to mid range laptop, also with 8gigs of RAM and a Rysen CPU. I runs fine on my main Rig, but I'm leaving soon on a short trip and would like to have the game running as smoothly as possible on my laptop. From what I've played, it runs pretty much fine, but when I made it to the boss Margit the framerate took a hit, but wierdly enough if I turn the camera to face the door I came through the fps returns to normal. Was this one of the areas you were talking about?
@@gamingtothefullest6418 it was sellia's foggy effect, but it has been fixed. And end game lyndell, as well as morgot/godfrey's arena. Those 2 took the biggest chunks of framerate. Partially from the environmental effects. Then morgott (also margit's clothes drape), and serosh's hair. Those things, pretty much. And also, dragonbarrow. But you don't really do much there so ig it doesn't really matter

I used to play Skyrim on a garbage laptop for school I actually got through the entire civil war questline and it ran like garbage with low settings, a few years later I deemed Oblivion unplayable on that laptop I have no idea how I put up with such a garbage laptop.
I am so glad FromSoft didn't decide to up the graphics and make it next gen. It makes it so much more accessable for people with lower end devices or setups from a few years back. I would have been so sad if i wouldn't have been able to play this on my old laptop. Best 50 bucks I've spent in a long time.

this video reminded me of the days where I had a crappy pc build (750ti + AMD Fx8320E) in 2016, but I still remember my first day with my pc so vividly. I remember it was during summer break, I slept while letting warframe download and when I woke up I played it so much. The PC reeked of cigs because the guy who built it smoked. But it was so special, even magical. I immediately ditched my ps3 and went to PC. I now have a decent build for 2022 (2070 Super + R7 2700x) but it doesn't have that "magic spark" to it anymore. I still enjoy games and I'm grateful for where I am now. This video humbled me quite a bit, thank you for this. Your story just made me reminisce about my experience and how I started with PC gaming. I even remember playing Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition a few months after getting my PC, but I immediately turned it off because it played like shit and I didn't know a single thing about modding xD Good times Good times...
I've similar specs, but on laptop. And I can say it's playable at 30fps, it even goes to 40s at times BUT there's also some huge framedrops at times. I've seen single digits lol. I already 100% the game on PS4 as it plays a lot better than my laptop, but I've started it on PC just to play mutliplayer with friends (which also kills performance). I'm also surprised it can actually run, surely not the best experience but oh well
Ye tru, probably around 90%+ areas runs at 40+ (on mine at least). There's only one small area in caelid that yeets my framerate down to 20~ (Lowest I've seen and only on that one tiny area). The rest is fine, easy 40~. But mobile gpus are slower than desktop's ig that's why you saw a single digit drop😔
I used to play just cause 3 in 2016 at 7-10 fps on my core 2duo, gt 610 , for over a year, i loved the scenery so much even in 800*600 it was pretty good back then, even that gave me good vibes, but now i cant even play anything which ran lower than 20 fps
I have a 1050 2gb also, I was planning on getting a 3070 before they came out, I even saved up a little more then it’s msrp. But, of course, the prices are up like 3 billion%. Yay 🤗. 1050 definitely isn’t the worst thing though. I can even run some games on decently high settings. Destiny 2 at 2k medium settings, pretty stable 50-60 fps (idk how I can do that lol they just have optimized that game so well)

@@Keiitoz I hope, because since birth I've never had anything higher than 4gb ram and as the years passes things becomes worse, we used to have a good salary and a comfortable life but now, we earn 40-50$ per month on a store ;( and lost ark really made me feel so left out because it's free to download and I can't play it and by the time I do I'm sure it's dead and at some point my pc will be unusable due to directx11 not supporting any apps anymore in the future.

Compare to Blighttown back in Prepare to Die, this game performance on pc is really Good. And the Mouse and Keyboard control in Elden Ring is actually decent too. Nice video!
Thank you so much for this video! I have a GTX 1060 6gb and an i7 4770K so I tried running the game at 1080p but got frequent heavy lag to the point where the game even crashes sometimes. I tried the lowest possible graphics settings with 1080p and it was just as bad. I tried at 720p and it was a little better but still plenty of lag. I thought I was screwed until I tried 900p and holy shit the game runs so much smoother with virtually no lag.
A GTX 1060 6gb is more than enough to run the game on high settings. The cpu is your real bottleneck there that's causing ur frame rate. What is the amount of ram ur using?
iam playing it on a i5-6500 paired with 16gb of DDR4 2333mhz and a GTX970 4G on High settings in 1080p capped to 30fps and its a stable beautifull experience
You know what's even more amazing? The game came out when portable windows gaming console exist! Now I'm playing elden ring on a Onexplayer with a Ryzen 5800U. 16GB of ram, 3GB VRAM. And a 1TB storage with no problem.
Weird question, but could you try installing potato mod? I would really want to it running like that (no shadows, no grass etc) installing the mod takes like 2 seconds, its literally copy pasting one file haha

fromsoft is a gigachad they value old game design and optimizing the game to run on shittier pc's. Even if i can't run it i will at least keep the purchase both for later and because fromsoft is a company worth supporting.

Then it's a software issue. Could be unsupported windows, no dx12 installed for whatever reason, unsupported driver/graphics card bios(?)-idk-, game missing some file (try verifying the game file on steam). Stuff like that
i feel a little anxious because i just bought a ryzen 5600g for a new pc. i had a lenovo office pc thinckcentre m83 with a i5 4th gen and i wonder if i could have improved it rather than sped more money in buy a new PC...
Extra Tip: If you still can't run just by changing the settings you can install mods to tweak and remove some things from the game like the grass and things like that, you can search it up on youtube :)

Honestly I'm shocked how well elden ring manages to run on low end machines. I have an Intel i7 13th gen 16 gigs of ram Intel Iris Xe ( shitty integrated GPU) And I manage to hold 40 fps in most places and literally 60+ in areas with less objects. If anyone's wondering if the game will run, I'd say give it a go
@@vivekkumarsingh926 You can have 64 gigs of ram but if u dont have a dedicated gpu and a good processor, the machine is still low end. I have a 12 gb ram android device. Ram cant really be used as an end all be all for classification of what is low end and high end.
Been through that phase around 2013, I played Sleeping Dogs on my 2GB ram, HD Radeon graphics laptop with around 15-20 fps, played the old assassin creeds there until like 2019 when I finally built myself a PC, it was a mid spec build but easily got me 60 fps in almost every game then, until at 2022 for university I got an laptop with a RTX 3060, which now works smooth and fine as hell!
Since "new gen" is a thing. I've had plenty of these questions and let me get this straight. First is series, a 50s series card were always meant for the lower end spectrum of things, and it's still is. 60s for mediocre, and 70s/80s/90s for the higher top of the line side. Second, and most importantly, gen. An old gen would eventually be struggling to keep up and end up being difficult to rely on. A titan x was once a king of gpus, there was literally nothing it can't do. And now it's hardly even comparable to a 3060, let alone a higher rtx series. Now try to comprehend where's a mere 1050 falls into in that spectrum. Third is perspective. Would a person without a gpu consider a 1050 a low end card? No. Would a person with say a 750/750ti consider a 1050 a low end card? No. And would a person with a 1050 who has seen it's capabilities consider a 1050 a low end card? On this day and age, with every release requiring more and more performance a 1050 could hardly even offer? Yes. The point is what you're using it for. If you're playing games that are released on the year 1050 was released or older, and games that doesn't require a lot of gpu power, then yes. You can't call a 1050 a low end card. But in this case, it's a new gen triple a game(s), where the card could hardly pull out stable 30fps in the absolute lowest of settings. In that sense, it's a low end card. Say a person with a threadripper 3090 combo, can they call a 7700k and titan x combo a low end system? Ofc they can. Because from their perspective, it really is a low end system. But the same rules really don't apply if you flip the case. So someone whose only own a card that's way below 1050 can't really say it's low end, but it's completely applicable for someone on the other end.
Bro the invisible enemies bug is a low blow for us potato users. Game runs exactly the same as Dark Souls 3 and I was happy except... I can only render enemies shadows...
I haven't encounter such issue tbh, but i have a friend who said the same thing where the game decides to cull enemies over vegetation. He has a rather similar spec with my pc but he's on a laptop. It prolly has something to do with the lack of vram, im not so sure
8:42 I mean i played king's field last year and enjoyed it so yeah from fans graphics aren't everything but artsyle is in some ways i'd argue better than just looking pretty or at least having amazing gameplay.
Oh yeah about that. DS remastered is a different story, your output resolution is tied to your internal rendering resolution (the way it's meant to be). But PTDE (prepare to die edition) is a special case. Because "dsfix" which is a mod, essentially. It allows you to separate "internal rendered resolution" and "output resolution". So basically like this; in every single game in existence you have the setting to change the game resolution, that way the game will be rendered and displayed on the setting set. But with PTDE and dsfix however, you can set the internal rendered res to whatever you like and it'll still be displayed at full screen 16:9. So in most game, the lowest you can go is 800x600p which will be displayed at 4:3 aspect ratio aka. you'll get black bars on each side if you have standard 16:9 monitor/tv. Or stretched, which will make things wider. But with dsfix on PTDE, you can bypass that minimum resolution setting (800x600p) and set it much lower, eg. 640x480p, or 360x240p. You can even go as low as 64x32p or even 24x24p (tho you wouldn't be able so see anything because you can literally count the pixels on your screen. So lower internal resolution = much lighter and easier for the potato system to render = higher fps count with the cost of visual fidelity. So basically what it does is giving you so much more control over the settings, bypassing whatever's available from the in game settings. I'm not very good at explaining things but i hope that make sense. If your system is really that weak, your only hope to play ds1 is only PTDE version + dsfix.

About Dark Souls PTDE, i used to get 17 fps even with dsfix but turning on unlocked fps BUT setting the fps limit to 30 brought my game to a stable 30fps most of the time, i use a laptop with an intel hd 4000 igpu btw. I dont know why it does this, it doesnt work if i set the fps limit to 60, or if i turn the fps unlocker off, its very weird.
Hm idk, it's actually the other way around for me. The raytracing patch massively improve the performance for me. Both framerate and frametime. I can even play at 1080p high very comfortably now

Maybe you can run ds3 with a mod that lets you disable all the texture in game, but elden ring? Im sorry i don't think you'll be able to even boot the game with said spec
It's msi afterburner. Or if you're using nvidia card you can also turn on GeForce experience hud. Turn on monitoring and choose detailed or something i forgot what it's called. You can press alt+r to turn it on/off
ooff honestly i don't remember. and i no longer have that save. but i usually just picked type B (woman) with slim build. the rest are just picking hair and its color, i don't use sliders. hope that helps
how was the performance when you reached the effects intensive boss like praetor rykard or the dragon that uses lightning? also, is it a bad thing that the game crashes to desktop with no error message sometimes? like will it eventually break my gpu/cpu or power supply or something?
Reykard's arena is fine, it ran normally. If you meant ancient dragons, it's aaight. There's a couple of drops like when fortissax nuking the arena with the spear, but it's fairly minor. The only areas that kills my frame to 20-25fps are just the big open area after twin gargoyles in nokron. Area from greyroll all the way to gurraq. And post maliketh lyndell. But only till godfrey. Just those 3 areas. All the other areas and fights are totally fine.
@@Keiitoz did the game crash with no error message whatsoever for you? i was suspecting for my crashes its the power supply as the temps aren't even that high when i played for 2-3 hours. the temps play around 40-58c for GPU and 60-66c for CPU. i had higher temps when playing rdr 2 and the game didn't crash once, i was playing in medium-high settings too on that game.
@@Skyflakes05 could be you running out of ram. It did happened to me a couple of times. I kept some other app running in the background. I was downloading in edge, i kept steam tab opened, my Spotify was playing. And ye, i was running out of ram and the game just close without any error msg.

Idk, ds3 is locked at 60fps max. Idk how you even get 80. And ringed city isn't the most demanding area in ds3, that'd go to lothric castle, DSA bossfight to be spesifiic. Can you run elden ring? You might, but will it be playable? That i dont know

Everyone here with potato’s, instead of 800x600 try 640x480. As long as the game opens full screen its the same, you get more FPS use dsfix and turn everything down, i play on a laptop thats very basic and crap. I get 40-65 Frames.

"Antialiasing doesn't affect performance that much" My 1050ti went from 17 fps (AA on) to 40-60 with it off.

Thank you so much for this video! I have a GTX 1060 6gb and an i7 4770K so I tried running the game at 1080p but got frequent heavy lag to the point where the game even crashes sometimes. I tried the lowest possible graphics settings with 1080p and it was just as bad. I tried at 720p and it was a little better but still plenty of lag. I thought I was screwed until I tried 900p and holy shit the game runs so much smoother with virtually no lag.

A GTX 1060 6gb is more than enough to run the game on high settings. The cpu is your real bottleneck there that's causing ur frame rate. What is the amount of ram ur using?

Then it's a software issue. Could be unsupported windows, no dx12 installed for whatever reason, unsupported driver/graphics card bios(?)-idk-, game missing some file (try verifying the game file on steam). Stuff like that
i feel a little anxious because i just bought a ryzen 5600g for a new pc. i had a lenovo office pc thinckcentre m83 with a i5 4th gen and i wonder if i could have improved it rather than sped more money in buy a new PC...
Extra Tip: If you still can't run just by changing the settings you can install mods to tweak and remove some things from the game like the grass and things like that, you can search it up on youtube :)

Been through that phase around 2013, I played Sleeping Dogs on my 2GB ram, HD Radeon graphics laptop with around 15-20 fps, played the old assassin creeds there until like 2019 when I finally built myself a PC, it was a mid spec build but easily got me 60 fps in almost every game then, until at 2022 for university I got an laptop with a RTX 3060, which now works smooth and fine as hell!
I want to know since when is a 1050 low end
Since "new gen" is a thing. I've had plenty of these questions and let me get this straight.
First is series, a 50s series card were always meant for the lower end spectrum of things, and it's still is. 60s for mediocre, and 70s/80s/90s for the higher top of the line side.
Second, and most importantly, gen. An old gen would eventually be struggling to keep up and end up being difficult to rely on. A titan x was once a king of gpus, there was literally nothing it can't do. And now it's hardly even comparable to a 3060, let alone a higher rtx series. Now try to comprehend where's a mere 1050 falls into in that spectrum.
Third is perspective. Would a person without a gpu consider a 1050 a low end card? No. Would a person with say a 750/750ti consider a 1050 a low end card? No. And would a person with a 1050 who has seen it's capabilities consider a 1050 a low end card? On this day and age, with every release requiring more and more performance a 1050 could hardly even offer? Yes.
The point is what you're using it for. If you're playing games that are released on the year 1050 was released or older, and games that doesn't require a lot of gpu power, then yes. You can't call a 1050 a low end card. But in this case, it's a new gen triple a game(s), where the card could hardly pull out stable 30fps in the absolute lowest of settings. In that sense, it's a low end card.
Say a person with a threadripper 3090 combo, can they call a 7700k and titan x combo a low end system? Ofc they can. Because from their perspective, it really is a low end system. But the same rules really don't apply if you flip the case. So someone whose only own a card that's way below 1050 can't really say it's low end, but it's completely applicable for someone on the other end.

I haven't encounter such issue tbh, but i have a friend who said the same thing where the game decides to cull enemies over vegetation. He has a rather similar spec with my pc but he's on a laptop. It prolly has something to do with the lack of vram, im not so sure

This got my hopes up, but then I tried DS remastered and I can't even average 30 fps on 800x600 on th lowest settings
Oh yeah about that. DS remastered is a different story, your output resolution is tied to your internal rendering resolution (the way it's meant to be).
But PTDE (prepare to die edition) is a special case. Because "dsfix" which is a mod, essentially. It allows you to separate "internal rendered resolution" and "output resolution".
So basically like this; in every single game in existence you have the setting to change the game resolution, that way the game will be rendered and displayed on the setting set.
But with PTDE and dsfix however, you can set the internal rendered res to whatever you like and it'll still be displayed at full screen 16:9.
So in most game, the lowest you can go is 800x600p which will be displayed at 4:3 aspect ratio aka. you'll get black bars on each side if you have standard 16:9 monitor/tv. Or stretched, which will make things wider.
But with dsfix on PTDE, you can bypass that minimum resolution setting (800x600p) and set it much lower, eg. 640x480p, or 360x240p. You can even go as low as 64x32p or even 24x24p (tho you wouldn't be able so see anything because you can literally count the pixels on your screen. So lower internal resolution = much lighter and easier for the potato system to render = higher fps count with the cost of visual fidelity.
So basically what it does is giving you so much more control over the settings, bypassing whatever's available from the in game settings. I'm not very good at explaining things but i hope that make sense. If your system is really that weak, your only hope to play ds1 is only PTDE version + dsfix.

About Dark Souls PTDE,
i used to get 17 fps even with dsfix
but turning on unlocked fps BUT setting the fps limit to 30 brought my game to a stable 30fps most of the time, i use a laptop with an intel hd 4000 igpu btw.
I dont know why it does this, it doesnt work if i set the fps limit to 60, or if i turn the fps unlocker off, its very weird.

It's msi afterburner. Or if you're using nvidia card you can also turn on GeForce experience hud. Turn on monitoring and choose detailed or something i forgot what it's called. You can press alt+r to turn it on/off

ooff honestly i don't remember. and i no longer have that save. but i usually just picked type B (woman) with slim build. the rest are just picking hair and its color, i don't use sliders. hope that helps
how was the performance when you reached the effects intensive boss like praetor rykard or the dragon that uses lightning? also, is it a bad thing that the game crashes to desktop with no error message sometimes? like will it eventually break my gpu/cpu or power supply or something?
Reykard's arena is fine, it ran normally. If you meant ancient dragons, it's aaight. There's a couple of drops like when fortissax nuking the arena with the spear, but it's fairly minor.
The only areas that kills my frame to 20-25fps are just the big open area after twin gargoyles in nokron. Area from greyroll all the way to gurraq. And post maliketh lyndell. But only till godfrey. Just those 3 areas. All the other areas and fights are totally fine.
@@Keiitoz did the game crash with no error message whatsoever for you? i was suspecting for my crashes its the power supply as the temps aren't even that high when i played for 2-3 hours. the temps play around 40-58c for GPU and 60-66c for CPU. i had higher temps when playing rdr 2 and the game didn't crash once, i was playing in medium-high settings too on that game.
@@Skyflakes05 could be you running out of ram. It did happened to me a couple of times. I kept some other app running in the background. I was downloading in edge, i kept steam tab opened, my Spotify was playing. And ye, i was running out of ram and the game just close without any error msg.

Idk, ds3 is locked at 60fps max. Idk how you even get 80. And ringed city isn't the most demanding area in ds3, that'd go to lothric castle, DSA bossfight to be spesifiic. Can you run elden ring? You might, but will it be playable? That i dont know

Everyone here with potato’s, instead of 800x600 try 640x480. As long as the game opens full screen its the same, you get more FPS use dsfix and turn everything down, i play on a laptop thats very basic and crap. I get 40-65 Frames.
