It's shaping up already so well! Showing some minis with the board in the end really put some life into it. I wish we had seen this video before my friends went to town with our board, would have been definitely useful info for our build. Looking forward seeing more
Hello, I just wanted to give you a little tip since I have made trenches before with corrugated paper. To add a bit more durability and realism, you should cut a line through the wavy sheet while leaving the backer sheet intact. Then I would glue the support beam over that line while pressing down. This will crimp the paper and make it look the it was placed behind the wood post. It also gives you more surface area to bond to. The slightly crimped look gives the impression of the dirt pressing on the sheet metal and the wood post holding it in place
@@TheRealAlpharious Thanks! I didn’t cut the corrugated paper but I did press the skewers on pretty hard. so I think it kind of replicated what you’re describing with the indentation in the “metal”
@ no problem I found that the cut helps to keep it wanting to pop back up as much great design with your modularity! You definitely hit a nice sweet spot between modular and immersion
Wow! You sure don't disappoint, Steve! And just part one? Oh, boy. I have no doubt the paint process will be a wonder to behold. You and your layers, Sir. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you very much! I'm excited about bringing a bunch of my tutorial techniques from my main channel of prop and costum fabrication into this world 👍
Thank you very much! I'm just glad I can share some of my artistic abilities with the community and hope inspire some people that might have never tried to craft.
Great work thus far. It seems you and @BlackMagicCraftOffical are both excited for this KS campaign. I'm not a mini painter or tabletop gamer, but these kinds of techniques can be used for many other projects.
Thanks! And yeah I’ve been making models and painting minis for a loooong time. And that is the great thing about these techniques you can use them for so many applications
I'm not making a full board, but instead, plan on using similar methods to create displays for completed miniatures. A lot of good ideas here - thank you! New subscriber-
@@itsFirestalk thanks! going to be playing with local friends I hadn’t really thought about battle reports yet but maybe 👍 If nothing else it will also be heavily used once I get into the mini painting as a fantastic backdrop
super nice... there are definitely some tricks and tips I want to steal/borrow/be inspired by.... it looks really good but there are a few things I would do a little differently... your duckboards are a little too nice... they look way too uniform and unused... my suggestion is when you make the next batch make some that are missing some planks and some where some are broken... also some with wider planks, crooked duckboards, longer and shorter ones, half finished made and half repaired etc. basically what you've already done with the wood on the trench walls.... and another small criticism... it seems like you went a bit overboard on the bomb craters (i know how it is and sometimes make that mistake myself... going overboard on terrain that is )... although it looks really really good I see a possible problem with the playability (it would have been perfect for a diorama piece)... it looks pretty bumpy... think it will be hard for your models not to fall over all the time while you're playing... not sure how to fix that... maybe some clear uv resin to simulate water/blood puddles and flooded areas... maybe that will smooth out the surface a bit more and still keep the details you've already made.... but as I said really well done

*_Very good work._*
*_Maybe 1080p, 1440p and maybe even 2160p in 2025?_*
Man, I've been inspired by videos before, but I have never been *this* inspired! I can't wait to go buy some 2" foam
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video and much more content is on the way!

@@DiceverseMinis Thank you very much! Maybe you’ll still be able to add some elements used here and make it your own 👍
The ground in the trench alone triggers my memories of WWI it's terrifyingly accurate
Thank you!

YES! Nice to see you jump to this hobby space. Wishing you nothing but success in this new venture. Great video!
Thank you very much! Just glad I have support from so many great people 🙌
I wish I saw this before I started my trenches....but Its not too late to adopt a bunch of your techniques, thank you very much!!!
You’re welcome! Glad I could help inspire 🙌
Really love how modular this is, so much replayability!
Thanks! and yeah I'm excited to use it for Trench and Warhammer!
This is absolutely stunning!
Thank you! Just wait until you see the pieces with some paint on them 🙌
Great video, can't wait for part 2 👊💥
Thank You!
I've wanted a trench board for years, this is the only sensible way to do it.
@@josephrigley8974 thanks! Hopefully you’ll be able to make one for yourself

Bravo man! I've been super excited about your new channel. Looking forward to many more builds!

This is so cool. Great work, dude!
Thank you very much!
I already follow your props channel, so its really cool to see you tackle war gaming as well!
Awesome! And yeah funny that I’ve been doing this a lot longer than my props! Getting back to my roots 🙌
Wow Steve! Congrats on the second channel!

Best video recommend from TH-cam in a long time. This is my first time watching your channel and I am impressed. Well done.

The terrain looks great. I think all of the craters and distressing would be fun. I like that you used a caulk to toughen it all up.
Thanks! yeah I'm glad I went that way in case anything ever chips, now to apply my many layers of paint 😅
Nice!! Looking forward for more!!
Thank you! 👍
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I can’t get wait to start my board using these steps
You are so welcome! Have fun!

The thing about Trench Crusade that makes me terrain is all of the terrain that i would have to terrain. Not to mention the terrain.
So much terrain...guilty pleasure I enjoy making terrain even more than painting minis 😅
You've been doing an amazing work ☺☺

Agreed! I am excited to finish off some sections of the board to act as awesome backdrops for the painted minis
Nailed it! This is an awesome guide
Thank you! Excited for others to see this board come together 🙌
This would be a good board for your Wasteland Alice characters
Yes it would 👍
Started seeing your tiktoks recently, apparently the algorithm has brought me here
Finally the algorithm worked in my favor 😂🙌
thank You , im subsscribing, this is not my subject of interest but shurly i will use some techniques for my model cars dioramas

Yeah that’s why I mentioned in the video that I’m going to be adding water effects to the craters after the ground cover is applied
@@SKSHobbyWorkshop ah must have missed it then... just carry on then then... haha...
Wasn’t you tempted to just dip the duck boards in the tin of stain. Great set up.
@@davidbrightman4384 I thought about it but thought I’d make more of a mess 😂
Lovely video! Very random but how can I find a wire brush like that? I've never seen anything like it
Thanks! I got that one at harbor freight years ago but Home Depot does have quite a collection available
Do you have links for the terrain scatter, buildings, and artillery that you printed?
I just searched WW1 models on my mini factory and cults 3D
Awesome work! Does the sculptamold have an exothermic cure? Or did you choose that for the xps because it doesn't heat up?
It feels like a mixture of toilet paper and plaster and does kick from heat, but once it dries it is rock hard
Commenting for the algorithm👌👌
And I appreciate it 🙌
