And that's not even to mention that the modern military is far superior to that of 1945.
Yujiro was intimidated by his father because he is his father. Yujiro was once a weak little child as well, just like Baki was to Yujiro. Seeing his father invokes memories of weakness in himself. Yujiro was once weaker than his father, but every single indication the series has ever given puts him as now significantly stronger.
