Afreeca, please don't mute the Korean portion of the interviews. We can't hear the emotions of the players and we can maybe pick up a little Korean through these interviews :)
Agree* they should fire tasteless and hire someone with Artosis. Tasteless's really annoying with his total lack of understanding of the game flow and try to add useless fillers. If you don't have enough passion to at lease play starcraft on a master level, you shouldn't cast GSL super tournaments.
teudaan tasteless is the shoutcaster and artosis is the colour caster. Nothing wrong with that, tasteless doesn't need to provide that much information when artosis already does it
WHEN is Dark gonna win a major tournament?! He's had some impressive runs but man, its heartbreaking to see my arguably favorite player fall short AGAIN. But big fan of Stats as well. Can't be that mad
Don't like how these casters tend to favor one player or the other. Every time they cast, it's obvious they are rooting for one player and not the other. They need to learn to be unbiased in their casting.
Well, there're a lot comments that don't understand why Dark threw the game 6. What Korean casters say about the reason is Dark knew he cannot make it, and since it is 3:3, Dark may not want Stats to have more confidence and fun. For me, this reason really come across. You' may want to listen Korean casting if you like to know more details about game or reasons.
Protoss has always been and is still the *most* difficult race to play, only the most skilled players play Protoss and even they have difficulty winning. Big props to Stats for being such a phenomenal player and playing such high level matches. The terran and zerg players have way more options than the Protoss with the current game-design balance. Would like to see Blizzard work on that and create more options for the Protoss players.
I have to say, it really, really did seem like Dark threw game 6. Who knows, he may not have known what we knew, it’s the end of a long tournament, lots of pressure, he’s tired, but holy crap. Even the commentators were gushing about how far ahead he was. He just say there and let Stats max while he built nothing but ling, bane and roaches. How does that happen at this level? He literally just stopped advancing his tech.
I think Stats got into Dark's head, his acorn harass was doing so much damage and this is why he over favored low teer units. Everyone afraid of someone, even Dark.
tbh the commentators were just wrong FOUR BASE VERSUS TWO BASE doesn't matter when you're even on workers, behind on tech, and archon harrass is keeping you from ever gaining solid footing. Dark was, at best, even, and if he pushes and loses his army then he just loses outright, especially with the archons around to do damage back to him if he pushes out. I think it was a mis-read by Tastosis, and without them saying "Dark is so ahead" I don't think that spectators would have come away with that impression.
I have to say, really didn't seem like Dark threw the match at all. He was just out matched this game and that happens sometimes. They both played well.
There's a reason why Dark is becoming the 2nd sOO. Nervousness seems to get him during a finals match especially a full 7 game set. It's like he goes pedal to the metal in the first sets but runs out of gas during game 5 and up.
Nah its just 4 base Zerg being dark should defeat any 2 base toss but hey if there is any race that is way out of tune its protoss and its at that state atm. When they were balanced though most protoss players were being shit except for stats, classic and hero so blizz buffed em. Probably due to protoss being by far the easiest race to manage.
Dark knows that zerg can make hydralisks, right? I really thought my boy was gonna take this series, but he just wouldnt take his finger off the R key. 15 minutes in vs 4 carriers and a mothership and hes maxing out on roaches; embarassing.
They're better than they were pre-4.0, but in PvZ you don't really want stalkers. They're only good for their AA and if you get a SG opening you can just skip stalkers. They're still good in PvT and essential in PvP (which is just blink battles)
To everyone saying Protoss is OP, you do realize Stats is one of the few players who can pull off this macro-heavy playstyle for Protoss. While most Protoss players like Zest, sOs, Hero, etc. prefer mid-game with unconventional tactics, Stats plays like a Zerg where he has solid base defense and likes enter into late-game which is obviously a Zerg's comfort zone and Terran's current meta with Maru's playstyle.
I could say the same with massing vipers and yoink the shit out the enemy Protoss. Viper abduct range: 9 Psi Storm Range: 9 fungal growth range: 10 No protoss is not decisively OP. Stats is OP
I agree, and I think Stats is an impeccable player, but I think psi-storm is easier to procure than vipers. Moreover, infestors don't deal game ending damage (unless paired with a followup) while mass storm alone can decimate most army comps made by terran and zerg alike. Vipers' abduct does not do damage, and its only single target. You also need a followup to the abduct. There are too many instances where the vipers are killed/feedbacked while trying to land one of their skills. High templars not only do more damage, but they are also easier to guard behind a couple of tanky units, which protoss has plenty of (zealot, archon, immo, even stalkers).
I forgot to mention Feedback is also 9 range. While Templars lean on the damage side of things, Vipers/Festors have way more utility which complement Zerg's mobility. If Vipers/Festors had similar abilities to Templars then what's the point of having different races? So it's really comes down to micro/mis micro. Who gets to cast first and who gets out of position. It's undeniable that Toss will have a stronger 200 army vs 200 Zerg but at the cost of immobility --> Vipers/Festors on the other hand enhance the mobility tactics of Zerg. As Zerg you should always try to stretch you enemy thin and do a dismantling process which is very doable especially in late game because all the expansions are spread out. Plus Zerg has better Tech-switch capabilities than Toss or Terran. The only reason why Stats is so strong is that he's so good at defending bases late game i.e. Keeping track of all his bases, leaving free supply for defensive warp-ins in un-manned bases and predicting where the enemy hits. Players like Zest and Classic are strong mid-game because that's where Protoss shines with high gas income but fewer bases to defend. sOs and Hero shine because they're so good at forcing their opponents to fight at their rules/pace in the early game which ultimately snowballs to a weird non-standard late game. Then there's Stats. "Protoss? Cheese? Special Tactics? Nah! I'll just play like a Zerg".
Damage for energy is always better. In the late game, Zerg will not have enough resources to follow up the utility/support of the Viper and/or Infestor. Moreover, Toss requires less micro than Zerg, since Zerg has to control the main army by splitting and stutter stepping, Vipers, Banes, Infestors, Swarm Hosts, etc. Your idea of Zerg stretching out the Toss army works in the early stages of the late game, where carrier numbers are still few, and the army composition is largely Gateway and a few Robo units. We've seen time and time again in late game ZvPs where the Zerg is unable to deal with the deathball army of Toss, but is stretched too thin by lack of resources. The only Zerg able to do your theoretic strategy has been Rogue. Stats is a great player. He had the most WCS Korea points in 2017, and he isn't nicknamed the "Shield of Aiur" without a reason. However, Toss has mostly been a generally strong race, and with the recent patches, has been quite strong. I don't think any race in Sc2 history has been too strong to be game-breaking, but Toss at numerous points in time, like currently, have been very strong. High Templars can be acquired faster, in more number, and cheaper than other spellcaster units while doing the most damage which is why Toss players often mass High Templar ...
Agree. Easy for lower players but very hard to win when it comes to higher leagues because other races are utilized more effectively. Protoss might be the easiest to play for starters but Zerg and Terran just begin to bloom once mechanical abilities are not a problem anymore. The sole reason why there are a lot of non-Korean zerg players was there was a consensus that to the only way to beat a Korean was to be a Zerg player.
Lol. Race that has close to unbeatable lategame army, most deadly proxies/cheeses and best defense and complete disregard to being caught out of position (recall.... lulz... from mothership core to base abitity... sure #makessense)
Dark just does not have the killer instinct of a champion. He should have won game 6 but he was too scare. He is a great player but he lacks that killer mentality.
Paul Michael you must be joking. Dark has some of the fiercest killer instinct out of all the players. I’m a Terran and always want Zerg to loose for some reason, but I can’t deny that Dark is probably the scariest zerg and who I fear the most when my fav Terran players face him. Game 6 was a surprise to everyone, it’s such an anomaly that people are even calling it an intentional loss in the comment section 🤷♂️
Kyle RO surem how many gsl has he won? How many world championships? He has never won a big tournament. Game 6 just shows he does not have that mentality.
WTF, feels like Dark threw game 6 for sure. Dark was up 2 bases, with Baneling and Roach speed finishing. somehow he did nothing except running his ling/baneling/roach army around the map and gave Stats enough time to push out with Carriers. This is so NOT like Dark's play style, he's always been very decisive and has that killer instinct.
Probably gave in to psychological pressure. Dark has become the 2nd soo of SC2. The nerves must've gotten the better of him. He probably wanted to play it super safe and did not want to "mess up" ---> which ultimately was a mess up. Although the chances of that happening is less than 50% but it can happen to everyone.
I think it's all due to Stats playstyle and results as well. Give the guy credit. When Dark did similar attacks earlier in the series and their other previous career series, Stats usually crush those kinds of attacks and wins off that. Although yeah i think If Dark attacked there and maxed out he would've been very much favored. Even if he doesn't kill him outright maybe we resets Stats or deal more economic damage or even kill the gold. Which, could probably favor him more at a later point.
i don't think there are any other players who wears their emotions on their sleeves as much as dark does. Whilst definitely questionable decision-making on his part, i think its a little far fetched to say that he threw the game.
feels like a fixed match... dark is a lot better player obviously but he looses just like that... especially game 6 could have made a little more believable...
Zerg is so Overpowered needs nerfed protoss is underwhelmingly weak vs T and Z both... Because terran and zerg both got alot of buffs and protoss got nothing. for every buff there's a nerf to protoss.. that keeps the game unbalanced....
these templars are a scandal...it destroys the game play with their cheap storm and feedback and cheats positioning of the opponent...protoss are OP and toss players are fake asses
stats did everything perfectly. if datk moved out he would've lost if his attack didn't work. Dark's tech was always so behind
6 ปีที่แล้ว
I don't think he purposely threw it. But disagree that he was always behind as well. He let his army sit too long, becoming lower tech compared to Stats after a while - he should have prepared for it, rather than sit still.
regardless of research advantage etc, dark didnt attack after stats army was defeated nor even harassment was done. after it, also one thing I observed hes making a bad army composition against stats in some games.
ns spoiler below. you're just saying that because you're such a noob that builds nothing but hydras and A move them

tasteless has been around starcraft for fucking ever, his passion for the game should really never be in question....
teudaan so glad that you're not in charge of making these decisions. Tasteless is a SC OG and very few people agree with you.

babycankles297 he is scared to win. He doesnt have the killer instinct the champions have.
He should havr won game 6.
Nothing makes me more happy than PvZ GSL Grand Finals being cast by the worlds best IRL Archon, Tastosis!!!
Crazy. I thought Dark had this in the bag for sure after his lead.
How much money they earn to have this cup?
Dark having no antiair in game 5 vs those carriers on stats side of the map was not a good idea.

so great to see dark lose. what did he do? some cheese and roaches only. woah, great tactics

Protoss vs Roach - PvR
the amount of damage dark got from those 2 archons, heck just make a spire and couple of corruptors already, itll save you way more
As a zerg player even just seeing these storms is so painful, it really hurts
Storm OP!

Ratko Ivanović crucial mistakes !!
dark was always on the lowest tech a zerg can possibly have.
I don't think that you always need higher tech units to win, but he lost a few big engagements because he stuck to a wrong composition for too long.
