I'm generally not a fan of ZvZ, as it usually ends up being 100 Roach vs 100 Roach This series was AWESOME! Seriously, there was a little cheese, some fun mid-game battles with a variety of units, and some late game high-tech domination. Super fun!
I think the casters are the most impressive thing about this entire series. These two guys in the last game had a fantastic tag team dynamic to preserve vocal energy for the duration of the conflict. 10/10 casters.
Rogue has such technical zvz. That game 2 where he turtled on 2 bases for so long and still barely lost was beautiful. I think people got turned off on zvz when it was mass roach vs mass roach all game every game. Is it the best matchup? Nah. There's also a lot more nuance to it you don't get unless you've played 1000+ zvzs.
Enjoyed this so well. Probably bec I started pro SC at the time when JAG was starting to prove they could beat KT or SKT. Remember Rouge back then doing a balls of steel proxy hatch in enemy's main base, also his reverse all kills.. but never really did go deep in individual tournaments.
Congrats rogue! It is these matches that makes me watch sc2 again...aside for, that, thrill tastosis are the casters for the finals, they’ve done an amazing job!
Mirror matchups for me are a true indication to how well you know your race so it was a good test for both players. Rogue showed us in this series he has command of Zerg in the early, mid and late game. Truly worthy of the title of Champion
1st place 280k 2nd 140k the stakes were soo high mate $140,000 on the line! How do you hold your mouse with all the other pressure behind? Congratulations Rogue!
Don't forget that he has to share the money with hes team, and maybe even some others things. So i don't think he actually gets the full 100% of the price money for himself. A large team, means more money to share when there is a win. But yeah, price money isn't the only income, sponsors also probably will pay him a lot. So maybe he cashed in some 200-300k+.. And lets not forget that he won in China as well.. and in Korea as well.. So maybe he earned like 500k or even more, just in 2017.
that game one all came down to that evolution chamber stalling out the upgrade. 2-0 to 0-1 roaches are a nightmare even with hydras and defenders advantage.
Wow, that was a really solid series. They went at it with brutal zergy macro and a good variety of tech. Yeah, you've got roachey hoards, but they way they used them in concert with other units was really pretty impressive.
The moment is at the end when the game ends. Soo wrote to Rougue "GG. 축하해.", is pretty impressive. After all matches, what would both players feel and how could write it down? I would be knocked out and I wouldn't have been able to write that at the end. Soo is gentle till his bones. Soo, you are the man.
I'm glad we have a Zerg champion again (since Life is gone), I was rooting for SoO but I'm happy for Rogue, well deserved. Looking forward to seeing these two players keep on winning. Hopefully SoO can win one, he's too good to not get a championship.
I feel so bad for soO I hope he stays strong and keeps showing everyone he is the most solid and consistant player of SC2 ever. Champions come and go but soO is always there at the top
Good match, also at 1:34:26 when they turn side on the host woman barely has a visible nose from side on. that's one of the smallest noses from side on that I have ever seen, her face from side view is nearly flat.
Although looked like luck battle in the beginning, by the end I was convinced Rogue was a higher level player. Soo had a few dull moments in the longer game when he was doing pretty much nothing, miscontrolling banelings, and going for a well timed cheese that was more or less easily defended. Big congrats to Rogue
soO knew he was losing after 3rd game, look at him crying at 46:43, he knew he was playing out of his style and didn't adjust/recover his mentality and would probably lose the upcoming games. Too bad soO can't play competitive SC2 anymore, as the player who made into finals the most times he deserves a world champion and Blizzard owes him one.
Anyone else feel like the casters were trying too hard to hype things up? I usually love tastosis just because they add so much personality to a cast with their banter but I feel like there was none of that this game.
SoO vs Rogue: "People won't play without Gas forever, because then you won't get any nice units." Maru vs Life: "Tanks? No. Terran are just starting to realize how good Hellions are."
its ROGUE! rouge its not ROGUE! if you have to spell his name spell it right! or you do not know the difference between rogue and rouge! you are one of those people that says on youtube star wars rouge one (red one) when is in FACT ROGUE ONE! its ROGUE rogue, rascal, fraud, swindler, thief, snap
This is not about my English (with capital E, mind you). And yes, instances like this are by definition considered to be grammatical mistakes when erroneously changing some letters in a word creates a word with a completely different meaning. Kind of like in the case of "Affect vs. Effect". I can link you resources if you are in doubt.
At first, I hope for soO to win because he was at 2nd too many times. but after seeing their style of playing, Rogue's one was much more entertaining to watch. he tech up, he direct the game and trying something new while in most ZvZ, it's just a brainless mass unit and trying to get more army than your opponent. Rogue deserved this, I'm happy to see him won. congratz!
Congratulation Rogue. Finally there is someone who won't choke in big tournament final, finally someone who have the potential to replace Life. Since there is no new player, hopefully Rogue will be like this until the death of sc2 esports. Although seeing a zerg win in the tournament is enjoyable, seeing someone always become unsuccessful is more painful to watch. So have to stop watching the tournament after the semi-final.
Compared to zvz's I'm used to seeing, these were actually interesting and varied macro games; would have preferred non mirror though. Only game I didn't like was Soo's 2nd loss I think where he scouted in the wrong direction and got run over by a zergling rush? he couldn't see coming - that felt like dumb (un)luck on a 3 player map.
..Soo always reached grand finals..but always lost to "brilliant" players... 2018 Soo should consider not only be brilliance in his way but Soo should do exceptionally.. vs inno 3-0, rogue 3-0, hero 3-0
On the other hand - Rogue - Well deserved! Like going for a late game, 200/200 for many minutes on both sides... And only Rogue getting Infestors for example... Well deserved

As a huge sOs fan I was very upset when Rogue took his spot to qualify for Blizzcon. Now I feel much better about it. It is quite obvious now, after watching the Super Tournament and Blizzcon, that Rogue is in better form and deserved to compete on the highest stage. Congratz to Rogue for winning in such a deserving fashion!
We don't know who is the overall best player of the world but we know for sure who is the second best.
ZvZ changed for the better.
Thanks for this great series.

So amazing to watch 2 of the best athletes in the world playing this sport we all love so much.
athletes?
Too hard to play, but awesome to watch:)
agreed
Game 1: 9:53

So many negative comments. Am I the only one that enjoyed this?
yes

There was a big diversity of strategies in this match and people are still complaining.

The only thing worse than ZVZ is tasteless' casting.
Poor soO. The same thing that gives him his amazing consistency also prevents him from going above and beyond to clinch a title.
You think so? What is that thing?
His mental strength. He's probably stable most of the time, but he seems to choke on the final stage.
Yes, mental strength plus something else that makes him weak in the finals. Was confused because you said "the same thing".
lol I thought he meant his play style and build orders.
Spoiler:
Zerg wins.
Smitherino ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Bs!! They lost!
Congrats rogue! It is these matches that makes me watch sc2 again...aside for, that, thrill tastosis are the casters for the finals, they’ve done an amazing job!
soO sad :(
he won 140k. sad my balls
Nada de nada money ain't everything. I bet if soo had the choice he would've chosen 1st place over an additional 140k
LOL
the 2:nd place curse :(.
no problem
Mirror matchups for me are a true indication to how well you know your race so it was a good test for both players. Rogue showed us in this series he has command of Zerg in the early, mid and late game. Truly worthy of the title of Champion
hands down the greatest ZvZ I've ever watched, especially game 3

@@owlwithbow2375 teams dont take your money in starcraft 2. Its all yours. In fact they give you a salary just for being in their roaster.
Brood lords huh... you don’t see it that often! Brings back good memories :)
The level of play...astonishing
Not a fan of zvz but this game was pretty good. Rouge is the one!
I see mike goldberg switched from UFC casting to Starcraft. "*If he loses this hatchery joe, IT IS ALLLLLLL OVER*"
Tosotsis is best caster

2015 protoss(SoS)
2016 terran(Byun)
2017 zerg(Rogue)
2018 protoss(???)
i know 2014 life,2015 sos.but 2014 delete...
If you look at how blizzard releases co-op commanders, there won't be another terran for 5 years
taeja?
Life had too many scandals but I miss him beating everyone with zerglings ;(
neeb ;)

Can't believe he rebuffed that attack in game 5. That was such a close thing.
very entertaining series and great commentary.
I think they should make a Soo Award next year in GSL you know similar to Nestea Award.
Rogue just became another champion that defeat Soo
Well well well, the first mirror match global finals
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. soO sad.
Wanna just get on with it?

Agreed. Rogue definitely outplayed Soo. He deserved the win.
Great championship and great casting!
What is the epic music played after a game is finished?
TASTOSIS! the best part about blizzcon is the finals because I'm going right back to watching Code S
ZvZ is pain to watch. I was hopping for a different final.
SoO in blue, Rogue in rouge. Game starts at 9:53.
In game 2 ...was rouge's spawning pool positioned improperly?
soO knew he was losing after 3rd game, look at him crying at 46:43, he knew he was playing out of his style and didn't adjust/recover his mentality and would probably lose the upcoming games. Too bad soO can't play competitive SC2 anymore, as the player who made into finals the most times he deserves a world champion and Blizzard owes him one.
what? he wasn't crying.. his eyes were tired
Also he lost two game to stupid cheese and got very unlucky
I usually dont watch Z V Z. But this was really nice. I might need to change my attitude :D. WP Rogue
well deserved. Congratz Rogue

lol dat reverb doe
Oh, I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive.
Can't help but feel bad for Soo...
Alex Lee Why? He played super sloppy in some of those games. Rogue outclassed him.
SoO, no! The curse is unbroken!
Joshua Farrar he has made 2th place for 7 time include GSL
Do you mean, NoO?
Can we get a better sound recording?
cuando no sabes ingles pero te comes todo el vídeo por tu amor al juego

They were obviously upset with a ZvZ matchup. :P
Why don't they finish the game? It just cuts mid battle.
SoO vs Rogue: "People won't play without Gas forever, because then you won't get any nice units."
Maru vs Life: "Tanks? No. Terran are just starting to realize how good Hellions are."
Why does it sound like the casters were miles away?
What a phenomenon game for Rogue!
that last game was some of the best zerg play I've seen (by the player who won it)
everybody is crying for soo other than cheering for rouge

Nice effort by Tastosis to make this bo7 zvz kinda not so boring. I mean.. how can you still be excited after by 4 ling rushes in a row?
I miss the tastosis from Korea, they take it so much more seriously at blizzcon

1:22:37 LOL Artosis
The woman said to Rogue that he is the “WCS Global Champion” that sound lame considering the name of the game is not involved in that phrase
soO lost again?! whattttttttttttttttt?! give him the title already! I never enjoy ZvZ but this series is awesome! To many cheese!!!
Decent games for ZvZ matchups, i usually find them boring
zergling rush is the strongest strategy in starcraft

seeing rogue and Soo play , Im still convince that life still The best Zerg in SC2 .
Nah Lambo is best
Life was so good, the only way to beat him was to make sure he was betting on himself to lose.
I do miss seeing Life beating everyone with just zerglings
TLO is best
Yea Life is actually banned from competitive SC2 because of gambling.
I think Zerg should be able to use their opponent's nydus worm.
Spoiler
That g1 roach 2 missile vs 1 armor timing of soO have earned my perma respect for him - regardless if he wins it all or not

k HOLY LUNA i just gotta nerd out for a sec on this game im seeing here
the casters just got done saying at the end of the previous game that each game gives a little more information about yourself to your opponent
now there's crafty so0 vs the macro monster rouge , so0 opens standard first game and rouge plays to him image of being unstoppable late game by going for early rush , so0 holds and later wins the game , second game is a short rush distance map and rouge goes for a harder rush and this time breaks so0's same standard opening , 1/1 , that's twice the player who is expected to want to take it to the late game trying to end it early game
third game now rouge open's standard , and so0 calls his 2 game aggression bluff by knowing his opponent and based off those previous 2 games the rouge would not try to rush in this third game , and in knowing that so0 goes for a double expand before pool , which is basically as greedy as you can possibly play , so now so0 will have the advantage for a longer macro game , let's see if he can turn that into a win against rouge though..
just oh man this was such a strategically brilliant outmaneuvering of his opponent and they haven't even seen each other in this game yet , oh what a beautiful play..
