I always watch people from the US adapt life in different countries, but it’s really cool to the the opposite perspective! Love this! I hope Indiana treats you well!
@@GraceMandarinChinese Yes they really are ! 😄 I watched the video first with the english subtitles to be sure to understand eveything and then I rewatched it with the chinese one so that I can try and pratice my skills. Thank you so much for all of your videos, they helped me a lot 🤗

I love how, in this video, you make English subtitles optional! As a Chinese student, it makes watching the video a better learning experience, for I don't have to (instinctively) look at the subtitles.
Oh Joy Yee! great choice Miss Grace! Favorite place to relax during me and my wife’s medical residency training in Chi-town! Also nothing beats walking along Lake front trail on Lake Michigan
Ahh! welcome to Chi-town. Glad to see you enjoyed your stay. A bit sad to see the Chinatown a bit more touristy, the strip mall across the street is where some of the businesses have relocated to. If you ever visit again, Argyle street has a lot of Asian groceries and restaurants.
Hope you're adapting to the life in the US! Glad you are vlogging and sharing your journey with us. It's great to document your journey for your own precious memories. Please try local coffee shops other than Starbucks. I'm not a big coffee guy myself, but I think you can find a lot of better coffee options besides Starbucks! That being said, if you're in Chicago, try a coffee shop called Philz Coffee. It's a smaller chain but my coffee friends love it. Give the "Mint Mojito" a try, it's their signature drink. Another tip I have is to try to open a credit card so you can gain some rewards and start building your credit. It might be a lot to think about, but if you plan to live here long term, having a good credit score will help you a lot in the future. I know you have limited choices as a foreigner, but try to research a little bit on this topic more for your own good. Cheers, looking forward to more vlogs!
Hope you are enjoying things in Indiana. Winter is just about here and it will be very, very cold. Next time you are in Chicago there is a pretty good Taiwanese restaurant, Hello Jasmine, it is a couple blocks away from central Chinatown.
If you watch TV shows, presenters often uses various versions of 接下来,接着,紧接着, and they all are like, "next, coming up next, up next" It comes from the meaning of 接 that means "to connect", so I think of it like it's connecting from what we are doing or just did, to the next thing!
12:52 You saved the scariest scene for last😂 (This toll is $6 USD/car, never going that way again) Enjoy your time in the US though! You'll get used to the ridiculous food portions😉
Very nice vlog and interesting to see more about the US. For me as a learner it would be better though to have English and Chinese subtitles at the same time, which unfortunately TH-cam does not offer. Have you thought about maybe putting the subtitles directly into the video for your VLOGs?
Thanks for the downloadable subtitles!🙂 Chicago looks really nice! I haven’t traveled much since the pandemic so watching this feels very therapeutic LOL. Have you experienced any interesting culture shocks since arriving?
If you stick around the Midwest, you should pay Madison, Wisconsin a visit. I hope you enjoy your time here in the US. It's nice to see the script flipped (I was an expat in China for 3 years).
Since the Chinese hand gesture for "six" has to do with the word "六", it doesn't translate into English. In Hawaii, it means "hang loose", or "take it easy". I've encountered many Chinese using that hand gesture in America, to the utter confusion of their American audience.
Great vlog! I have watched several of these; highly entertaining! NO! Chicago's weather (climate) is NOT good. Is this your first time visiting America? If you have the opportunity, I recommend the San Francisco Bay Area; best weather / climate in America! I also enjoy your language videos. I'm very fluent in Mandarin, but I still enjoy watching yours and others' Mandarin language videos.
Why Chicago of all places?! lol. maybe you had a friend living there already? Definitely not where I'd choose to go. Also, any trouble entering the USA right now? seems they're pretty strict, unless you walk in the southern border or board a plane from the middle east.

I know the feeling. Sometimes I put a piece of paper over the bottom part of the monitor so I can't see the subtitles.

I wonder about the expression "接下來“ that you use sometimes, does it mean same as "next"?
Yes it means next

Congratulations. You survived Chicago without getting shot.
